Ok, today as I'm coming back to homeroom from science, my teacher tells me my phone went off 4 times. Confused, I told my classmates it was on silence. My teacher said it had to be picked up by one of my parents. After school I tell my mom she needs to pick up my phone. My mom enters the school and asks one of the staff members if she can talk to my teacher. My teacher comes down and tells my mom the story. She also says it was playing a weird ringtone. She then leaves and my mom opens my phone and turns it on. I have no missed calls. No texts. And I have 4 reasons it wasn't my phone. 1. It was playing a weird ring tone. My phone has a ringtone that is like one of those old fashioned ones. 2. MY PHONE WAS ON SILENCE!!! 3. My mom tried to call me, no sound came out of my phone. 4. Even if someone did call me it would say on the screen, "view missed calls". WHY ARE TEACHERS SO STUPID, COULDN'T THEY CHECK MY PHONE TO SEE WHO CALLED ME AND WHY ARE THEY THE ONES TEACHING US???

If you have any questions, comments or similar stories, please post them below.

I guess, but I'm confused. If it wasn't your phone, then how'd you end up with someone else's? Also where is YOUR phone? That would be the best piece of evidence in my opinion and it would prevent me from wasting my mom's time.

I'm guessing your teacher blamed you for someone else's ringtone? Otherwise, I'm not sure how your teacher could have thought that your phone went off. And four times? How are they going to prove that?

The only similar stories I have is where my phone was on vibrate (since I always keep it on vibrate rather than silent) and it's gone off, but it's not like that ever disturbs anyone. I just do my best to ignore it and move on.

Wow, that kinda sucks. But how did they end up blaming you for what appears to be someone else's phone? Did the teacher punish you in any way? This is kinda confusing. =/

I've never really had this type of situation except one time, I swear I turned off my phone (I watched it turn itself off) but during class my phone magically turned itself on and played my alarm clock. Thankfully, my teacher was merciful and let met turn it off, and it didn't turn on again after that. That was a really weird moment for me, like my phone was alive.

catfight09 : Wow you must be really confused. The phone I was mentioning in my story was mine.
hnnn : I had to type this quickly so there is a lot of errors. My Homeroom teacher said that not my science teacher. Plus, my phone was in my backpack the whole school day.

Not defending the fact that your phone got taken away when it was likely someone else's phone that must have been very close to yours, but it wasn't out of stupidity for not checking. I am one year from becoming a teacher myself, and I can answer why yours didn't check to confirm that you had missed calls or something like that. That would get the teacher into serious trouble as that is considered an invasion of privacy over an issue which put nobody in danger. Teachers are not to look through a student's phone (even something as simple as checking if there were missed calls) unless there is reason to believe that information in there in any way affects another's safety. Given this was an issue of a phone going off, they can't check it. That was just to clear up that matter. It was still handled poorly. Had that been one of my future classrooms, I would have waited until the student returned before turning it in to the office or withholding it. I would let the student know what happened, and if the student could confirm it was not their phone, then leave it at that. Just taking it without giving you a chance to prove it wasn't yours is not how I would handle the situation.

Ohhh. Lol I get it now. I guess'd be at fault for the teachers then. However, nowadays teachers honestly don't care. If anything, some of them start the issues and arguments themselves just to prove the authority over the students. Try not to let that get to you, even if it is..... disturbing.

It would not be an invasion of privacy if your teacher had to shut off the phone to keep it from disrupting the class or something (even if there was not class). If opening it is the only way to shut it off, that is fine as it is necessary to stop the problem. As long as there was no evidence of your teacher looking through anything. Given that he or she didn't even notice the no missed calls, I would assume that he or she was at least true to the confidentiality. At least that was one thing done right

Yeah, that must suck. I feel your pain, even though the situation I was is entirely different in almost every way and has pretty much no relation to this story at all. I just don't bring my phone in. We have to hand them in at the beginning of school, so I just save myself the trouble and leave it at home.

Darkpower508 : Yea, but the thing is that I HAVE to bring my phone. It's for personal reasons. So now I have to hide my phone deep in my backpack and it has to be off.

235689 : Man, that sucks. I know some people that need to have their phone on them, yet the school still requires them to hand it in.
