I'm tied between super meat boy and frozen synapse. One is a platformer (that is tough as nails) and another is a stategic shoot-em-up, and i've always had difficulty with strategic shooters though.

I Wanna Be The Guy, as well as some of the fan games that are found within the forums there. But, as far as games console-wise. Maybe the Ninja Turtles for the NES. That game was really hard.

I would say Star Wars Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast. I couldn't get past the 1st level of the game without looking at an in depth walk through that explained everything in graphic detail.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on the hardest difficulty. When your trying to get to the control room to disarm the nuclear bomb...you just Rage Quit after the 30th time.

I would say Zelda II would be the hardest game I have ever completed. With passages hidden in unlabeled walls, the unfair enemy patterns and the slowest leveling system I'd ever seen, it was more difficulty than gameplay.

I find stuff like Mega Man and Castlevania easy.

The speeder bikes for Battle toads, while having some awesome music, made me give up NES for a while. That game is insanely hard and impossible to time the jumps, especially the long jump about a minute in. Anyone who said they beat it is a liar, end of story. That game was meant to be frustrating and anger-inducing.
Modern games are much easier than old games. Ghost n Goblins never went past the first level. You only get two hits and no saves and things fly at you from all different directions. Games nowadays, even on hard levels.... meh. They're beatable. |

Demon souls made me tear my hair out one hair at a time. Just when you think you have it everything comes falling down and the remote more often than not hits the closest wall . But still an amazing game
