In some games its possible to save in different states by pressing esc.how do I do that when that option doesn't seem to be available?

Where did you see that? I know about the Save File Manager that works sort of like that. I can explain that if you want.

Well, you can hit escape, and you will see the "Pick State" option. When you click it, you can select states 0-9. You can put different saves on each one.
