Davideo7 :

Hi.  Just a note to let you know that my laptop acts strange in the Zelda Ocarina of Time game.  When I'm playing and want to stop and enter a comment in the chat side, the keystrokes have an effect on the game, ie -- the space bar takes me to the equip/save screen, etc.  Is this a bug or a problem with my PC?  Just thought you'd like to know...
I still like playing the game, though.  It takes me back a few years!

Phil Sims : Which emulator does this happen in? MUPEN or 1964? If it's 1964, have you tried to re-configure the controls? If it's MUPEN, are you using xpadder?

Jordanv78 :

It's the 1964 emulator.  I have tried to change the controls, but have not been successful.  I can change them in the box that opens when I double-click on the game screen, but the changes do not seem to take effect.  Still, the game is playable if I don't "chat" too much.  I suspect the problem is in the Windows Internet Explorer.

Phil Sims : I advise you to use Firefox or Chrome. These browsers work best with the RGR plugin. Also you can "Play game without chat box" This should eliminate the current problem you are having until I get to the bottom of the chat type issue.

Thanks for the advice.  I think I'll keep the Windows stuff.  I'm "old school" when it comes to software.  I can live with the hassles.

Phil Sims : Uh ok. Just keep in mind that Chrome and Firefox are the recommended browsers to use with the RGR plugin. Let us know if you have further issues.

As a matter of fact, the game just bombed out on me.  The chat side went into a screen saying that it was messed up (I was in the middle of game play) and then the game froze up altogether.  Don't know what happened!

Phil Sims : I'm sorry to hear that. If you don't want to use Chrome or Firefox I suggest you clicking the link that says "Play game without chat box" Then you can just chat in the main browser window if needed.

Does the game load back up again?

Jordanv78 :

I had to reboot my computer and then, when I started the game again, after about ten minutes of play, I got a white rectangle on the right side of the playing screen and it would NOT go away.  The game still played, but I could not access the chat side, or exit the game.   Again, I had to reboot.  I've been playing this for three days now and this is the first time I've had to do this.  It acted like it was trying to open a window on top of the game.  When I placed the cursor on the box, or the game window, I got a busy indicator, like something was going on.  I don't know what the trouble is.  I will try to play again.

Okay.  I was playing Zelda Ocarina of Time and the screen started doing strange things, moving up and down, then the Vizzed Board stuff all went blank.  The Zelda emulation ran fine after that, but when I exited, I could not get an Internet connection on my laptop.  I had to restart my computer to get back on the Internet.  Is this a bug?  What happened.  The message in the Chat side said that the Internet could not find the Vizzed server.  After rebooting my laptop, I'm back on.  I was using the Firefox browser, so that's not the trouble.  Let me know if this is something that is common.

Thanks!

dutchie : Currently you can't configure the controls with the MUPEN emulator. In order to change the controls in N64 games you have to use the 1964 emulator.

Until there is an RGR update that fixes this issue, this is the way it is. Sorry for any confusion this causes.

Jordanv78 : So if I read it right your saying that for this particular game I cant assign the buttons right?
I just enjoy playing star fox 64 in general and would like to play through the re textured version. But with out proper controls I cant play that game thanks for the information anyway.

dutchie : I'd like to reply instead of Jordan in this case because the re-texure version here only works with the Mupen64Plus, along with all other Hi-Res texture packs for N64 in the RGR.

That's very nice of you but you didn't really answer my question. I mean your only stating that the high resolution packs run under mugen64.
I guess the answer I'm looking for is no you cant assign the controls for that game.

Thanks for your time anyway

dutchie : Sorry, in other words the Mupen emulator in the RGR doesn't support customizing controls, instead it loads with a default config - not much I can do to fix it. Bottom line, if it doesn't work for you then the RGR Plugin developer will have to make it so that the controls can be configured with Mupen. Sorry for the inconvenience.

TRUINE : Ok I enjoy the regular version since I can set up the controller so its playable I don't know if anyone from the staff really tried to play the re textured version but I find it hard to get through the first level while it looks so much better .I normally rank up over 1000 kills in that game so its not like I cant fly Anyway I think its great I can play the old systems here for free

There are 2 main games that have issues. I remember loving these games to the point where they could be called my favorites. I tried both emulators and even the variations in the upper-right corners. I hope they can be fixed!!!!:

Vigilante 8- 2nd Offense (strange letters and numbers that flash over screen, cut-off colors, just an unplayable mess)
San Francisco Rush 2049 (runs fine, except that there's no sound for me on either emulator)
