First off, I do apologize if this forum has appeared previously. Brand new to the site and couldn't find a means to search the forum to see if this exists previously without personally flipping through 60+ pages of forums.

Basically I signed up for the site a few days ago so I could play some of the games and hopefully save my progress. However since I've signed up, nearly every minute my email inbox is being spammed with an email stating that it is Vizzed's "first ever newsletter". It is getting out of control to the point that I sent it to the spam folder, took my email off my Vizzed account and unsubscribed to the newsletter (which automatically subscribes you upon account creation). Unfortunately even these steps hasn't seemed to stop this email from constantly spamming my inbox.

Mainly I was wondering if anyone has found a way to get this thing to stop sending or if it is just an issue that has constantly been around? I wouldn't mind receiving the occasional actual email from this site but anything of actual merit will unfortunately automatically go to my spam folder from now on. Trying to surf for that one real email out of five hundred of these "first newsletters" would just be insane.

Any who, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about this. I haven't had any trouble myself.

Let's bring in the expert.

Could this be a glitch?

Yeah, I just checked my own emails that I've used but no problem.

I believe it may be some sort of glitch with the server sending. Once David sees this thread, it'll be straightened out.

Yeah that must be a glitch that I didn't even know about. I have the newsletter sending out, 1 per a person and it should only be at ID 12,000 right now and since your ID is 150,634 it doesn't make any sense why you'd be getting any already.

Wait a second, you said 1st newsletter? That newsletter hasn't been sent out in years so that leads me to assume that either a bot or someone found the url to the old script and is processing that page, I'll have to remove it.

Is it still sending?

I am not certain. I have been out of the house and away from a computer most of the weekend. I noticed some more spam emails when I got home but I do not know how recent they were. Though judging by the number there was, I'm fairly certain it is still sending. The one thing I noticed is that the sender of the email is from you, but its pasted at least 20-30 times instead of just once like most emails are.

Pretty much like:
"Subject: New Features: Play Retro Games online - Sega Genesis, Nintendo, Game Boy & Color, Master System, Game Gear, Atari and more!
"
"From: Davideo7@vizzed.com
Davideo7@vizzed.com
Davideo7@vizzed.com
Davideo7@vizzed.com
Davideo7@vizzed.com
Davideo7@vizzed.com
...
..
."

Yeah and it keeps repeating that well over 40 times actually. I expect the "To:" list to be big given the sender list but seeing the "from" repeated that many times seems odd. Also and for reference, this is basically a copy of what the email entails. It has been the same message on every one. I'm just luckily my email has been stacking it up to about 40 continuations before it creates a new email about it.

Message:
"Vizzed Board Summer Newsletter

There are two giant flaws that I noticed.

"The Retro Game Room was added to the site a few months ago"

The RGR has been around for years by now.

The thread in the email is from mid-2009 and has been closed for a while.

https://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/thread.php?id=6101

So yeah. The emails are definitely not legit.

Doesn't change the fact its coming from his email and that it has been spamming me.
It's already been pointed out that it is well over a few years old. I figured that out the first time I saw the email.
The content of the email is not the issue, I merely posted it as reference to the fact of what exactly it was I was being constantly spammed with.

Alrighty then. I'm going to close this so it doesn't get spammed. If anyone has any questions or if the problem comes back PM me and I can reopen it.

I got an interesting PM that justifies reopening this.
Looks like, Wed, Nov 23, 2011 at 10:56 PM was when it was sent from your server, but Wed, Nov 30, 2011 at 7:22 AM was when I received it.

In fact, every one I receive was sent at the same time, I'm just repeatedly receiving them time and time again.

Let's see if we can get help without dragging David back.

Would any of you three know why an email would be received a full week after it was sent from the server? I understand a few hours of lag, but a week is a bit much.

Well I've seen emails take 30 mins to an hour to get to their destination before but that was on shared hosting. That was when I was actually paying attention to the timestamps of emails. Must have serious lag for it to be a week delay. Oh well, at least he or she got it that is all that matters. I would be more worried if registration emails took that long to send.

Since newsletters are not that important or personal I think there should be live versions of it on the site in the form of an announcement or something.

Excuse my language, but I have no freakin clue.

My best guess is something got hungup when the emails were being sent out that interrupted the process. I haven't even gotten mine yet to be honest.

Thanks for reopening it. You pretty much stated exactly the email I was originally getting.
I'm still getting them though they are not as frequent as before. Also the time stamp is saying exactly 6 days ago.
6 days ago I believe is when I joined the site. I'm guessing what is going on is that the first email had so many "froms" attached to it that it has just been sending them since that day but the email is overloaded and couldn't process them until now. But yeah, each day I keep getting new ones and they are all having the 6 day time stamp on them.

It's only hitting me with about 5 or so of these emails every 1-2 hours. As opposed to originally when it was literally 20-40 in an hour.
Lot more manageable but still is continuing.
I'd send you the email so you could see it for yourself but I don't want you to have the spree of email accidentally.

Actually forwarding the email is probably okay... There's no real way it would give BNuge a ton of spree emails.

But from what I've heard, it was probably a glitch that send hundreds of emails at once to the same person, maybe taking many days to process and send them.

Actually the same things been happening to me since I've joined up as well. I even went as far as to remove myself from getting the newsletter but I was still getting 17 a day. Recently it's gone down to about 10 a day but it's still pretty annoying.
