This worked for me when fixing the freeze bug on Super Mario RPG: 1. Make a save state (F2) 2. Hit Escape 3. Click "Load" 4. In the Bottom right corner, check the square that reads "PAL" 5. Click the "Load" button 6. Re-load Your save state (F4)"

Retroboy : I would assume that it is before. But you can try both. Just make sure you have a backup save state. For the one you are going to try saving when it freezes, save that to slot 2. If you save it on the only slot you have and it doesn't work, you are stuck on a frozen screen permanently and you would have to start all over again.

Can this work for the Medafan emulator? I'm rather interested because I'm using it to record a play through of Mario RPG and hitting a freeze glitch would be bad news as you can imagine.

Iazani : PAL stands for Phase Alternating Lines which is the color encoding system used in broadcast television systems in the European region. The PAL Super Nintendo and other PAL game systems run games at a faster rate than NTSC (the encoding system of US and Japan).

Switching to PAL emulation explains why it fixes the crash because the NTSC can't emulate it for whatever reason.

FYI...This method also works for freezing when you're trying to equip items, as well. You will need to use this if you ever want to get past Johnny at the Sunken Ship. Make sure you use it before you go into battle with Johnny.

THANK YOU This helped me a LOT I just found the Masher and it wouldn't equip! This helped me a LOT! Now all I have to do is beat Booster Tower, Marrymore, that big meteor thing, and then I can see if Johnny won't freeze... Here's hoping! Thanks again!
