Is the United States justified in using private military firms abroad to pursue its military objectives?

What is your take?

There is countless research on this, it's a pretty discussed topic.

Our regular military is a volunteer military that is controlled by popular opinion and diplomatic rules and international policies as much as it is directed by military commanders.  That hinders it and doesn't allow it to achieve necessary goals and aims to forward our international position in the world.

Private military contractors, and I've worked with some when I was in the Marines, get a lot of stuff done.  They have a different set of rules and can do so much more.  They're very professional, highly-trained, well-armed, and a bunch of pure warriors.  Match an company of U.S. infantry without air support against a platoon of contractors (150 to 40-some) and my money goes to the contractors.  They're brilliant in the field and I always appreciated working with them.

The U.S. is absolutely justified to use contractors.  Things get done without ramifications or harming regular soldiers.

It is somewhat strange having private militarys.
If you've ever played the ps3 exclusive haze, the entire plot is based on that.
