I'm gonna go with the rival from second generation. He's simply a more developed character. The rest of your rivals are all either purely douches or purely goody-two-shoes. The rival from second gen actually had some depth to him. He starts out pure evil, and as he continues to lose to you, he learns what he's lacking. In short, he's the only rival with any substance. You hate him at first, then you start to see him change, then at then end you sympathize with him, even start to respect him. He gets my vote.

Red from second generation definitely he just reads rival and I like the second to last and the final battle because you get to see a change in him and then you see his growth in maturity in Kanto, It just makes me warm in fuzzy after putting up with his attitude until then.

It was a tough decision between blue or Wally. Both of them had a pretty good team that somewhat gave me a challenge while playing threw the game. In the end I had to choose Wally because he had one of my favorite Pokémon of all time in his team.. Heracross. If blue had a heracross I would have choose him, but he didn't so I have to go with Wally.

But was very easy, at least when you have Typhlosion. The ones from the next games are very disappointing, because they are both like friends. One, you never see with a fully evolved starter, and the other is like a best friend.

He's also the one rival I had the most trouble with, halting at least 20 of my attempts to become the champion until a lucky critical from my Raichu's last possible attack before struggling finally wiped out his Blastoise. Most. Satisfying. Win. Ever.

Second would have to be the rival from Johto because of his development. The rivals from then on kind of went downhill. Weren't as interesting, became more and more pathetic to kill. Though that could also be experience talking. XD

I think that Silver (Giovanni's son) was the best. I don't think that Gary should really count as he became the champion, and Wally is a weakling. Barry is just plain annoying and I haven't played Black or White so...I think that Silver is.
I think that Silver (Giovanni's son) was the best. I don't think that Gary should really count as he became the champion, and Wally is a weakling. Barry is just plain annoying and I haven't played Black or White so...I think that Silver is.

Well, I think Blue was the best character story wise, but I think Barry from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum was the most fun to fight, he had varying types and high-level Pokemon, and his battles could be pretty unexpected. It made you think and use strategy.

While he is not as direct, I would consider N as a rival, as well as one of the bad guys. He does the same things that the rivals did in the other Pokemon games and stood for the same purpose. His reasonings are far superior as well.
