It turns out that the new server just isn't working out so we have to migrate to another server yet again.  I've decided to switch from a Windows server to a Linux server and I'll also be getting some assistance from godaddy with setting up the new server so there's no reason why the migration should go wrong this time.

The game room games will not be playable during this time but they should be playable again within 24 hours.  The other parts of the site will probably be available for most of the 24 hour migration but there may be some down time.

my main thought is, sucks for you.
how many times have you had to do this now?
So whats the aim from the linux server as opposed to another windows one then?
are you having to pay every time you change the serer?

thenumberone : Yeah I'm having to pay every time.  The problem that happened with the current and previous server is a windows issue so it shouldn't happen on a linux server.

well thats good that the error shouldnt occur, all my computing instructors are always telling me linux is more reliable.
if you dont mind the asking, whats the damage for a server change?
out of complete curiosity, is a linux server more expensive than a windows?or same price?or does it just depend on the host?

thenumberone : Damage as in price?  Well between renewing the old server and buying the recent server, it's about $650 down the drain.  Also the new server is more expensive than those 2, about $120 more a month.

Linux is usually a little cheaper than windows but the linux server I got comes with management support from godaddy so if anything ever goes wrong, they're suppose to fix the problem.

oh i see, thats...quite a damn lot to be honest.
And thaanks for taking the tim to tell me that, right now in the royal bank of me there is seriously next to nothing there, im desperately trying to get a job, il donate £50 or so when(if) i actualy get one, that should make about $80 us dollars(im assuming that it can work that way.) back of your losses, hopefully some other users will to.

legacyme3 : Things are just things that I read so they might be biased but 3 things that makes Linux better are:
1. Linux server runs PHP better and faster
2. Linux server is more secure and harder to hack
3. Linux server is more stable which means less server problems (like the ones I've been experiencing)

I've been using Windows servers for at least 3 years now.  I would've switched to Linux sooner but I have absolutely no experience with it so I would have no idea how to set it up but now that Godaddy offers managed servers, they can take care of all the server stuff for me.

If it means the site runs a little better, then it's always good, but the whole server management thing is even better.

legacyme3 : The reason the site feels perfect right now is because there's not many people on since some are already seeing the new server (site isn't up on it yet though).  During busy hours yesterday, pages on the site were taking forever to load.

As I said on Facebook, you have a lot of patience. You are getting so much crap from some people on Facebook about this whole server migration thing, and you don't deserve it. It sucks that over $600 went down the drain. I also didn't notice that there haven't been any donations for a while. I can't do much, but when my paycheck comes in on Friday, I will donate what I can and just hope that others can help out with the loss. I take it that having management support will help take some of the load off your shoulders? I can't imagine how many hours you had to have spent in front of your computer during this.
EDIT: I also noticed a big difference in speed. The migration isn't 100% finished yet and it is already 10X better for me.
