I think porn is just nasty. Seriously, find something better to do. Someting constructive.

To be honest, I used to really be into porn and I'd view it a few times a day. But now I'm off of that habit, and I view it much, much less than I used to.

My suggestion? Ease off of it gradually. Going cold turkey doesn't work for most addictions and it won't work here too. Try to get yourself down to about one viewing a day, and then make it less and less explicit porn. It works like a charm, for me at least.

I thought that forums here were open to discuss pretty much any topic that we want. Just because people posted here doesn't mean they don't think the issues your brought up are not important. Also, if that is what you want to talk about, then why don't you make a thread about it and talk about it. As I've said before, I've seen a bit of it, and I don't care for it. Not because it's immoral or sleazy or bad for me, but because I'm not attracted to a girl that everyone else can and probably will look at.

I'd rather have an exclusive girlfriend than masturbate over the same pixels everyone else does.

As far as Jazz's argument goes, I agree it's not a major issue, but I won't go as far to say it isn't an issue at all. Some people get addicted to it, like people get addicted to sex or caffeine or anything else. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be talked about, but it also doesn't mean it should be made a bigger deal than it really is.

In general, yes, porn is immoral, but that doesn't mean one should simply condemn others for looking at it. Many things make one watch porn. Loneliness, lust, whatever it is. The best cure is to find the root, why are you looking at porn? Once you find the root, eliminate it.

If you are doing it because you are lonely, go get a girlfriend or meet people.
If you are doing it because you are lusting, go to a bar and hookup with someone.
It's not open and shut simple as that, but there are many small steps on the road to recovery. You can't leap over all of them at the same time.

Look at me, posting for once in my life, isn't it a miracle? I have to say I sort of agree with Jazz, but there are many good points throughout the entire thread. But think about it, The smut industry probably runs a good portion of the economy, so the cons of completely demolishing it are also quite bad.

I don't think porn is a waste of time. It's just another way of spending time when you're bored, or doing something to please & entertain yourself. I'd compare porn to chocolate cake. It's fine to eat chocolate cake and enjoy it, but don't spend all day eating chocolate cake, and don't ONLY eat chocolate cake. xD
Pretty much anyone saying that porn is "A complete unconstructive waste of time and therefore people should stop!" while posting on a videogame chatroom (both technically "pointless" things with no tangible end goal) is being a hypocrite anyways, LOL.

JazzCoon : I assure you there is nothing personal. Obviously you guys have your view on how much it is a problem compared to others. But I disagree with people who don't think it is not a problem at all. I think for anyone to think that(not saying you guys), especially since lots of people including myself have dealt with the problem, shows they don't understand it. But that's just my viewpoint.

I remember there was a psychology study to see the differences in relationships between genders of people that watch porn and that don't and on trying to find men that didn't watch porn they couldn't find one person, ill have to look back into my psychology books and find the study to link it and edit this later but its true the porn industry is humongous.

As for addiction I didn't realise it was so serious i don't think i know one person that doesn't watch porn whos a guy and i have many friends that are girls who watch it. Also I know for a fact that some couples actually watch porn together not because they need to, to get aroused as in over an addiction but out of pleasure, they can function adequately without it anyway but occasionally prefer to watch it together.
I think it takes a lot for a person to get a heavy addiction to porn and some statistics may not be reliable but it is true that some bad events have transpired with blame being laid on porn. Lets not forget Ted Bundy blamed his psychosis on violent porn. This however is very rare and although I'm not trying to advertise porn (i don't need to) I will say I don't think it's as bad as a few people make it out to be like, a lot of the time it's just something to do out of boredom. 

Yeah people these days watch porn about 60-90% of the time. I really think that is a waste of time, but to some people it's entertaining.
