So Vizzed, do you think the death of Muammar Gaddafi will bring about a new era for Libya, or possibly result in a more openly hostile opposition to NATO or the UN?

Personally, I see the new Libya as initially democratic, even overly so, but sooner or later falling into that delicate balance of Arabic culture, western democracy, and Islam. It was unfortunate that Libyan rebels were unable to keep Gaddafi alive long enough for a trial, but peace at the death of a tyrant is one worth supporting I guess.

a trial? Which would accomplish nothing but cost more money and time and give the Libyan people nothing. At least this way they know he is dead and can at least try to move on from his regime. If he were still alive then I would suspect him of "pulling strings" behind the scenes.

I'm also glad he's dead so that my country no longer has to have troops in the area and we can stop fighting someone else's civil war.

A trial would have shown the world that the new Libya would be a different one. They brought Gaddafi down the same way he 'brought justice' for decades.

I don't think its any of my business... I'm not Libyan and I shouldn't be caring about them in first place. I'm just glad he is dead, even though I know nothing about him I'm just basing this opinion of the fact that I guess he was a dictator and one evil bastard and the people seem to be fed up with him. I don't like any single person in power over civilizations. I might be jumping gun here but I seriously don't know anything about him and really I don't care either. Off with his head, he had his fame and power and reality came knocking at his door. It's probably a case of bad karma.

I agree with no trials especially with someone who has more power then the law itself. Anyone with that sort of power deserves death if they cause enough harm in society.

it was poetic justic he called the rebels rats and was found in a stinking drainage ditch.
The libyan rebels got a bit excited and ended up killing him but i dont really care, he had 3 of there leaders burned beyond recognition, so i am pretty glad that nutcase is dead, now to hope islamists dont sweep into power, the libyan government has a few of them within there ranks...

I see this as the first step of galvanizing Libya, From here on out I think we will see a lot of good things start to come but some bad things may come first. They will not know how to run a country to start with just because they have yet to do it.

I think how they paraded him around is a little sick but he earned it.

I thought I had posted here already... I think that this is a good thing for Libya, and fitting that he died how so many of his victims did. I highly doubt that the new Libya will harbor bad feelings towards NATO or the UN because they asked for them to come in and help take Gaddafi down. Now they can rebuild and try to strike the balance between East and West that they've been working at ever since the Ottoman's conquered the place from the Romans.
