So if anyone has ever read the books Eragon, and then had to endure the torture of the movie, you will understand my pain and I sympathize with you, but to those of you who have seen it and not read the book, let me fill you in on the complete failure.

   Firstly, Durza looks completely wrong. He is supposed to be tall, extremely muscular, and pale. Not that tiny pea brain that is in the movie. Secondly what did they do to the Razac?!? They are not made of freaking bugs!! GAH!! The razac are supposed to be cloaked creatures with humped backs, a shiny black exoskeleton, large lidless eyes, with beaks and barbed tongues. Not dirt people made of bugs. Aaarrrgghh!!

   Next, Saphira did NOT just fly a little and turn into a fully formed dragon. That was one of the stupidest scenes I have seen in my life, and I have seen Deathbed, the Bed that Eats. They successfully cut out a quarter of the book because they didn't give Eragon and Saphira bonding time when she was a baby. Just BAM!! Fully formed dragon.

   Sloan never dies, he is still alive in the series. The Razac don't die till the beginning of the third book. Tronjheim is supposed to be inside of a huge mountain, not on the side of some dopey hill. They pretty much left Oric out, even though he is gonna be the DWARF KING LATER!! Murtage looks like a twit, Eragon is a twit, Aria is supposed to be cold hearted in the first one, not all flirty, you know since she was just tortured and watched her boyfriend of 100 years get about 15 arrows to the chest!!

I could go on all day about this, but for the sake of the length of this, I will end it by saying that that movie was one of the most horrendous things is have ever had to sit through and that my faith in humanity was severely shaken.

Yeah, I agree, I don't think the movie does the book much justice. I think that the book is one of the greatest modern books of this time and the movie was just subpar.

I never liked the book or the movie. It just isn't interesting to me.

Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of the book either, but I agree that the movie sucked. =| Just a horrible adaptation.

I actually liked the movie, It was good In fact i own it and have watched it over 20 times.

It was a long time ago since i read the books (by the way...when is the net one coming out) but i remembered watching the movie after i read them and was stunned by how much they cut out! Like 5/6 of the book got thrown in the trash! 
And i effin hated Durza...was he supposed to be a shadow(was it shadow?It was a LONG time ago since i read the books). Oh and character development? What is that?

The movie felt rushed and i was shocked over how the small amount of time it took them to get to Tronjheim.
Yeah...it was a disgrace!

Durza was not shadow, but he was supposed to be extremely pale and scary. And the next book comes out November 8 of this year.

Yeah, the movie really was disappointing.

The books are awesome though and I can't wait till the last one to come out in November.

Yeah, the movie was an extremely depressing trim of the actual book. The book itself wasn't a fantastic read, and the movie does it little justice. The shortcuts they took in order to accelerate the story's plot were terrible (Saphira's scene) and their interpretation of some scenes were just so far off.

most book to movie adaptations are disappointing. I still enjoy a vast majority of them but the books are and will always be better

You forgot the part that pissed me off the most. Angela. They completely ruined her character. She was supposed to be a clever and amusing witch. Instead she was a mysterious fortune teller. She also never showed up for the battle with her sword-staff. I was looking forward to that more than anything, but it never came.

The battle at the end was horrible too. Jump off the dragon's tail was pathetic compared to epic sword fight leading up to Arya and Saphira breaking the stone (I forgot exactly what it was).

Well, having never read the books, I thought the movie was good, except the ending where the black dragon appeared leaving the thought of a squeal which never was and probably never will.

Agreed. It was what made me cautious about The Hunger Games movie. Thank God that one one turned out better.

Ahaha! I agree. You know something else? The elves - they don't have pointed ears. I know you were trying to keep from going on, but there is no way they can continue this - they ended it completely wrong. There's also the fact that Oric was not even in it at all (Although, I do recall his name being in the end credits). There's just so much that is wrong with it, you could go on for probably longer than the movie lasted about what they did wrong.

Eh, there are difference between movies and books anyways. Like the Hunger Games. In the book, Peeta lost his leg, but in the movie, he didn't. See what I mean? There can be differences between movies and books

I enjoyed the books very much and when I heard they were making a Movie I was excited until I saw it in theaters they butchered it! It was loosely based off the book and the acting was mediocre at best... I really hope that they never attempt a sequel and if they do make it more like the book. 

Eragon - not just the first book, but the entire Inheritance Series - is definitely my kind of thing. It's one of my favorite book series of all time.

As for the movie, I saw it once years ago and I instantly recognized that it was crap, so I don't associate the movie with the books or even pay much attention to it at all.

There are four books in the series, and the way the movie leaves off, it could never progress true to the actual story in the books. I don't think they could go anywhere with it, and hopefully they don't... unless it becomes even more different than the real story. :/
