Hey Everyone, it's Cookieman here. I know I haven't been the most active member but it's always nice to pop in and share a few things!

So currently a lot of my time has been going into my schooling.  I have two years of college under my belt now. I am currently at my fourth college, Collins College. I'm on week 5 of my first quarter of my first term here and so far, I love it!  It's a great environment that promotes creativity.  Only downside is that it is $12,600 a school year, but after doing some research, it's not that bad of a price.

My classes for this quarter are:

Environmental Science (Prerequisite)
Drawing Basics I (Core class)
Survey of the Game Industry (Core class)

The school's goal is to put every student on the right path toward their desired profession by teaching the student all the aspects of that profession.  They have a variety of art degrees at this school and I find myself in the Game Production course.  By graduation I will have a Bachelors of Science.

So far I have all A's and I plan on keeping it that way. I'm going for the Dean's List, it will help me earn some scholarship money to help pay for my schooling at Collins.

Even though these classes are basic, I take them serious because they are key components of building a firm foundation as a game producer. Better yet, it will help me to become a more proficient, well rounded professional in this field.  To even think about the future gets me worked up and excited to move along through this program.

I'm hoping that I can possibly use/show some of the skills I learn in school to help with the site, if David does not mind, and to show other individuals and help them achieve the same skills I'm am achieving and soon to achieve.

That is just a basic of what I have been doing just very recently.  If any of you wish to know more about my other schools, or my reasons of hoping around or whatever it is that you want more detail involving my schooling. Please, feel free to ask. I will do my best to pop in, here and there, to help settle those burning questions.

Thanks for reading a deal that is all about me. It feels good to sit down and express myself again.

I must be tripping... I don't see anything.

Is this a metaphor for saying you did nothing in college?

Hahaha, sorry I have a habit of using the enter key to use the next window for writing. Sadly, this mistake leaves blank posts in making threads as well as leaving private messages. Don't worry, I'll get back into the swing of things. Sorry, once again.

Cookieman :

Lol, no worries, just thought like joking it up.

(haven't seen you before. Once you get to know me, you'll grow to love or hate my humor)

Anyway, onto your post..

Damn. You are doing a lot it seems. And I agree, even if they are basic, give it your all. If you don't, you won't get the full experience out of it.

As for the fee, it's high, but it's not outrageous. Where I went to college (till I dropped out), the cost was 40k a year (20k each semester, but I had a s*** ton of aide)

No worries man, I can take humor and more importantly dish it out every once in a while! Haha.

Yeah, it's quite a bit of stuff to do but nonetheless its something that I want to do. Heck yeah I'm getting the full experience; experience is a key component in the gaming industry. The more you have, the better. Plus, since I'm paying this much money, I'm going to use it to its fullest potential!

What was the name of this college? It must have been prestige or out of state tuition to cost that much. If it's not an out of state situation, then they must be a private school just like mine. Considering, private school don't tend to follow the code of cheaper tuition for state residency type students. If neither of those two are the reason for that price. Quite frankly, that's ridiculous.  But no doubt Financial Aid helps out. I myself use this method; lets say, I'm going to have a lot of loans to pay off afterward.  It is safe to add though, my father's Veteran Aid (VA) helps out a ton.

Oh wow, I see what you mean.  There is a ton of money available to help students that need it though. It only leaves about 6.5k for students that qualify for the full loan/grant.  I see also what could possibly cut cost. Unless this is not the case, wouldn't a student be able to rent out a place near the school and carpool or something to get to school? If so, that would be far more cheaper than 11,000 dollars for the year. All that is needed are a few diligent roommates that will split the cost and create the carpool system. If the case is that a student has to use the school's housing then never mind. I would have to say that that is messed up. From the name, it must be a private school. These schools tend to make these prices, even if they are not needed.

What lead you to drop out eventually?

Wasn't happy, not worth the work, not worth filling out the financial aid.

I'm currently about 8k in debt, from a semester of school (60% of my costs were cut in FA)

It was a good college, beautiful campus, but it wasn't for me. The only thing I really enjoyed was the cross country team, and that can only be for part of the year. Once it ended, I found out life on campus wasn't all that great. I'm enjoying post college life.

As for the cost, the reasoning was that I was getting a full unlimited food plan (I ate at least 1000 dollars worth of food easy. Maybe more.), access to everything needed. etc. The main cost was the rooming. I could have rented off campus, but decided against it since I didn't know if I'd like college or not.

I see. You can only get that explanation from someone who truly experienced it.  I know what you mean. Everyone starts out great and as the semester/s go along. You start to see the "make or break" factors of staying start to really surface and sometimes it is the break factors that win. It is no doubt a good experience.  I found my first two years a great growing period for me personally. My attitude and confidence in attacking this schooling head on is a product of these prior experiences. Yes I wasted my time chasing goals that ended up not being what I really wanted but I wouldn't be where I am now without them. I'm glad you're in a situation where you are one step closer to what you want to do or become, if you have not already.

My college fees should have been about 1,200(since the government here pays most of your tuition fees)but i applied for them to pay that too.
12,000.phew,quite a bill.

That's great man. What kind of school are you going to?

Yeah it is, but I am finding it to be worth it though.
