The description says it all. Tell us something really painful that happened to you. Give details please. Preferably not just 2 sentences telling what happened.

For me, I was 4 or 5ish. As far as age, all I know is that I was not tall enough to see the mirror in the bathroom, so I had to climb up on top of the sink to brush my teeth. I would always just hop off the counter when I was done. At the house I lived in at the time, the cabinet of that sink had European type cabinet handles. They were shaped like this:

Only difference is they faced vertical, so those ends that stick out up and down instead of side to side. It was also shaped decoratively and the ends were pointed (that is the important part of the story). One day, when I hopped off the counter, I was a little close to it. My side got impaled, and my feet never reached the floor. I was just there hanging of the ground by a handle impaling my side. To add a little more of an image, the cabinet opened up by momentum of me kicking and screaming, so I was also swinging back and forward. I have a very defined scar on my side from that.

I fell off the jungle gym once in kindergarten. I was at the very top and was trying to climb to one of the other bars and completely lost my balance. I fell straight down, landing on my back. Barkdust is not fun for a five-year-old to land on after falling like five feet. =| I started crying and one of the teachers had to literally CARRY me to the nurse.

A couple winters ago, I was fooling around in the attic of my barn (I used to live on farmland)

I backed away into the hole where the ladder was. I didn't land gracefully, I hit my head on the ladder, rolled down it and landed on cold hard cement. I also started to bleed. It was like a 6 foot fall, and it sucked

In the summer of 2008 (making me 18 years old at the time) I was at a carpool spot near one of our major highways. I was there because my part time job requires carpooling for the employees --and my mom is one of the drivers. As we waited for one of our coworkers to show up, two of the guys decided to get out into the pouring rain and have a foot race. Their race went fine and I decided to challenge one of them. I did so to try to prove to the guy of how bad smoking was to his health (how moronic of me).

I own mom said I should not do it, but I told her I would be fine. Now here's the thing, the carpool spot by the highway is not paved. It is highly compacted gravel of various sized stones. Guess what? I did not get out of the starting gate. As soon as I tried to run, my feel slipped out from under me and I landed on a rather large rock right beneath my left knee cap. I thank God it was not on the knee cap itself. I had to get nine stitches for it and three of those were specially designed to dissolve under my skin.

Want to hear insult to injury? Because of all the rain we had that day my mom's van got the chance to go home instead of working that day. I could have been home relaxing with video games but nnnnnooooooooooo, I just had to show the problems of smoking in the most numbskulled way possible.

I was at a friends house. I was seven. We were probably playing tag or some other nonsense. My friend's driveway is steep, and rather craggy, so we are advised not to play there. Being the badasses we are, we race up the incredibly steep hill. I'm winning by a mile, when suddenly my foot misses. It happens in slow motion. I begin rolling down the hill, my knees scraping against the craggy cement. I tried to stand up but could't and most of the skin on my legs had been torn off, making the bottom half of my body look like a bloody mess. It hurt so bad. I went to the doctor, and they wrapped everything in gauze and covered it with antibiotics. I've healed completely since then, but I still have plenty of scars.

I should've worn pants that day.

This is a pretty big thread bump, but because one of my other threads got resurrected from the dead, I'll see if this one takes off. I have another story.

A few years ago, I had a cavity on one of my back teeth. First, I'll clear up that it wasn't due to not brushing. It started from the inside, which happens from time to time. Anyway, due to being in a huge financial rut, I couldn't get it filled for a long time (over 1/4 of my tooth chipped away by the time I could afford an appointment). So I got the filling and thought that was the end of it. About 2 years later, I find out that my root had been exposed for a while before the filling, and it got infected. Because it had no way of leaving due to the filling, I got an abscess there. The infection would just grow and cause a lot of pressure on my tooth. At various times of the day (particularly at night), some of that infection would get into my blood stream and circulate in my head. The pain was so severe it would wake me up, and keep me up for hours. At times, it got so bad that I found myself curled up on the couch rocking back and forward while biting down as hard as I can on a hot wash cloth. The pain of that circulating in my head was severe and took forever to subside. I dealt with that for about 5 months everyday until I had enough money to get a root canal. OUCH!!!

Please share your pain stories

tj4bigred : Pfff, shorts are still better.

I've never had stitches and never broken a bone, and I don't really have a good story about the most painful thing that happened to me, and to be honest I don't really remember how it happened. But when I was in 10th grade, I pulled a muscle in my lower back pretty severely. If you've ever pulled that muscle, you know how bad it is, but if you haven't, allow me to elaborate. Your lower back is, as far as I know, just about the worst thing you can pull. You never know how much of what you do relies on those muscles until they start resisting you. The only time I wasn't in pain was when I was standing or sitting perfectly upright. The rest of the time the level of pain varied from a constant dull ache, to a shooting, curl up and whimper pain. And this lasted for just under a month. It was the worst thing I have every experienced. I think the only thing that didn't totally suck was that I was still able to walk to school. Somehow the weight of my backpack offset the strain on my muscle, and it didn't hurt that much.

Now, if you want a bloody story, here's the second most painful thing. Last year, in late February, I stabbed myself in the leg. And I mean stabbed, not just a prick. I had been working on building a model for my project, and I was exhausted. Rather than clear the stuff off my bed, I decided to just sleep on the floor. Next to all my tools... About three hours later, I was woken up by a decidedly painful sensation in my leg. At some point, I had grabbed my knife, and then I managed to literally plunge it into my calf. It was in there a good inch and a half. I'm not trying to be tough when I say I didn't yell, I just grunted a bit and swore under my breath because it was 5 AM and I like to be considerate. But it really didn't hurt as much as you probably imagine. The really painful part came a couple days later, when the incredible stiffness and throbbing pain started. It was as bad as it was because it was so deep in the muscle. If I didn't move for about five minutes, when I tried to move it, it would be unbelievably painful. When I woke up in the morning, I literally had to manhandle my leg around with my hands because it just didn't want to move on its own. It was really quite bad. I don't even want to think about how bad it might have been if it had become infected.

I know it was long, but I hope you enjoyed my tales of woe.

Here was the worst pain I got:

In the first semester of my 7th grade year, I had gym, (Gym was all the way in yellow wing) I was playing volleyball, and suddently, 2 volleyballs come flying at me. Thankfully, I blocked one of them, but then the second one hit my face and I fell to the ground, it seemed that I started bleeding out my nostril, once I felt my nose and saw blood on my hand, I was crying, but screaming and panicking at the same time, it was terrible. I was trying to run to the nurse that is all the way in the administration wing, and I was being told to calm down, I couldn't even stop panicking, the impact of my nose being hit by the volleyball caused tons and tons of blood cells exploding, and that caused my nose bleed. I had to hold my head down, I had to pinch the bottom of my nostril with a tissue, and I was in pain. The next day, the blood in my nose that was still in my nose hardened up into black, and my nose was unable to go back to where it was until a few days later it made a full recovery, and that was my nose bleed story.

The nose bleed was such a scary experience.

That was the worst pain I got, I was 12, (I still am 12.) and it happened 2 or nearly 3 months ago since I wrote this story.

Worst pain in fights: having my jaw, shoulder, and some ribs broke.

Worst pain otherwise: attempting a simple kick-flip on my skateboard down a flight of 8 stairs - sure, I cleared it, but the I landed with the board vertically up my crotch.

One time, when I was playing Hockey, I was being goalie. I didn't have a helmet on though. I got a puck to the face. It hit me under my right eye and it started to bleed. My friends said that I looked like I got into a fight. I laughed because the mark looked like I got into one.

I've never broken any bones, so my most painful thing happened at the doctors office.

I developed a bad rash all over my chest from a bug bite. My grandma took me to the doctor and he sent me to a nurse. The nurse came in and told me to pull down my pants.

She stuck a needle into my left buttock and injected me with some kind of medicine. The medicine kind of stung, but it wasn't bad. Then she pulled out another needle and stuck it in the same buttock. That second medicine she injected me with felt like liquid fire being shot through my veins. After she pulled the needle out, I started limping because my leg was in so much pain. My grandma made me walk around so that the medicine would circulate better. That was some pain.

Most painful thing to happen to me was when I was playing football for my school and I tore my MCL during one of our practices. It was horrible I felt the tendon snap and my knee popped like 3 times, they had to cart me off the field and call my momma.. Took about 6 weeks for me to become fully healed and start playing again.

I haven't had that many extremely painful things happen to me in my life. I've also never had any major injuries or accidents.

However... I got this series of vaccinations once. It included one initial shot and then two booster shots.

The initial shot was one of the most uncomfortable, painful and disgusting things I've felt. The needle going into my upper arm hurt pretty badly.

It felt like a burning and tingling sensation was seeping through my muscle. It slowly traveled down my arm and up into my shoulder and neck, the whole time I was in agony. I almost fainted. I can't describe it without using the words "creepy" and "disgusting", since it felt so foreign inside my arm and hurt so much.

The pain stayed for two days and it also left a hideous bruise. It basically felt like someone punched me in the shoulder as hard as they could.

One time, when I was four, I was playing outside with my mom and brother in the snow on Christmas Day.  My brother picked up a snowball, not knowing there was a chunk of ice in it.  Luckily, the ice missed my eye but landed right under it, forcing me to go to the hospital.

I was 14 and it was track day. We were forced to do each event, It was the high jump that day you would try a jump over the pole and onto the mat. You knock over the pole you go and do something else. So i wanted to get it done and over as fast as possible so i asked a few of my friends if i could cut in front of them in the line.

It's my turn to jump. I'm not wearing proper foot wear so my teacher told me to do it in my socks. I run at the pole and as i'm running i jump and as my feet leave the floor i kinda stutter and my foot slid along the hardwood flooring i ended up nicking my head on the metal pole leaving a giant bump on the front of my head. It was purple and sore for the next 5 days. My teacher took the guilt lol.

Last year, I had the misfortune of passing a kidney stone the size of a small pebble. That may sound small, but it felt like I was trying to force a baseball through a mail slot. I can only remember being in that much pain once before in my life, and that was when I had an abscess tooth that got so bad that I actually passed out from the pain! Even the kidney stone wasn't able to make me pass out.

I actually did have an abscess in my tooth root as well. My second year of college, I got a cavity and had no money to get it filled. By the time I got the money to get an appointment, about 1/4 of my tooth had chipped away and my root was exposed. They cleaned it and filled it. About 2 years later, I started getting severe pain under that filling. Every time my heart beat, I could feel the pain pulsating. It would start under that tooth and quickly circulate all around my head. Found out that the root that was exposed died and got infected. But I once again had no money to get it taken care of. I spent about a year going through this. At random times of the day it would start up again. At night, it kept me up. I would go in the living room, soak a wash cloth in very hot water, and just bite down on it as hard as I could until it passed. That was the first time in a long time I had tears from physical pain.
