While a fair portion of the famine is attributable to the drought, I think the biggest problem that can to be dealt with is Al-Shabaab. The article provided says that Southern Somalia is the epicenter of the famine, and the link below should show that Al-Shabaab occupies most of the southern areas. I am not saying that the famine in Somalia is correlated with the terrorist group's occupation on a 1 to 1 basis, but their continued refusal to allow aid because many organizations are Christian-based or different political agendas must be dealt with.

I must say I am ever so thankful that I live in this much more fortunate country. The current state of Somalia does have a greater affect though on even distant nations.

Kinda a bump here but i would say the famines been declared over. Of course hundreds will die everyday but thats 'normal' for africa. Theyl be forgoten soon enough... Different if it was europe or america though.
