Since I'm practicing how to make websites using HTML I was wondering if any of you ever made your own websites.

No, I have never made my own website.

I've made a website until it got hacked but I didn't use html. I actually have no idea how to make websites with html. Maybe one day you can teach me

Yes, I've made a site with Pennylessz called "Gamature" it had 40 members, but is very inactive now, because I'm on Vizzed and other places more.

I've made several websites.
My 8th grade year I had a flash game site, and was the savior of tech class .

Yes I have, if you need any help with things feel free to talk with me. I do not know everything but my knowledge is quite extensive. I also know a few tutorials on the HTM language.

I have never made a website, but I know a lot of HTML and Javascript because I like to program stuff for fun. If you are having trouble or need help, just PM me.

I've had to use website makers for school projects, and tried a couple of freewebs sites, but that's all. I don't know much html and no javascript, so yeah.

Honestly, the days of HTML driven websites are pretty much over. Using something like Wordpress, or even Drupal if you are adventurous is pretty common.  HTML in and of itself isn't all that great.  CSS is necessary to style now and generally it's not good programming to just use HTML anymore.

Not to mention you need PHP or some other language to anything overly interesting with them. Like have user accounts etc.

Having knowledge of HTML is essential, but generally most of the heavy lifting is done via PHP (or another script) and CSS.  Then again there's a lot of .net stuff now and it's becoming what the big sites use.

MichaelVash7886 : But PHP outputs to HTML, so actually HTML is still quite necessary. PHP just makes HTML pages do interesting things. Another problem is that PHP is a proprietary system. Sure, it's open source, but it's still owned by the PHP foundation (Or whatever they call their organization). HTML is a STANDARD.

mike345 : It's great that you want to learn new things about. I suggest getting a good text editor with syntax highlighting, such as Notepad++. But even if you don't, just using Notepad is very good. There are also a few other HTML-specific platforms that have a tab for coding, then a preview tab so you don't even need to have a browser open to see your changes. 

But more specifically, to answer your question, yes, I've made quite a few websites. A few personal sites here and there, a portfolio site for myself, and I've done some professional web design for businesses. It can be quite fun and rewarding.

I know how to make a basic webpage, but I never learned how to make it visible to the public. It was just a high school HTML class after all.
