Good evening...

I'm currently building a list of songs to learn and master on electric guitar, and hopefully the list will equal 42 full songs. I would like to take requests from the Vizzed community on what songs I could possibly tackle, and if not the song, then artists. I may try to learn how to sing to cover some of the vocals on these songs, but no promises. I do intend, however, to learn both rhythm and lead parts to make it sound more...full.

The preferred style would be blues rock, blues, or pure and simple rock n roll, but I am willing to go intro genres like Jazz, Metal, classical (if a good song can be found) and whatnot. I want a moderately difficult to advanced levels...the hardest song I know portions from I believe is Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson (still working on the intro solo).

Fire at will, and shoot me as many suggestions as you can please. I will keep a list of songs via this post, in no particular order. If it is suggested, then I will include that it was a suggestion. Have a look at these songs to get a clearer idea what I'm looking for if you wish =)

It's kind of odd, as RHCP is a band I always heard about, but never properly sat down and listened through their songs. What songs, do you feel, best portrays them? 

I would record them, and hook my account here to my YouTube, but I don't own a proper camera, nor do I own a good quality microphone. I might be purchasing a good condenser or ribbon microphone this fall, but until then I got no means to record. AS for video with the microphone, I refuse to use the webcam on this laptop, so I will likely make some background images to go along with it...maybe take a few pictures with an old digital camera of some things I feel relates to the song.

Well it depends, do you want an acoustic song or electric guitar song?

I think "under the bridge" is a good song, and a chill song.

Preferably electric, but if the acoustic song is good, I may look at it. Some acoustic songs I find can be transferred to electric guitar quite nicely.

Quick update on the songs I got chosen so far, should help give an idea what I'm looking for in general, but I want to hear from you of course. I will go through some Jazz songs and try to find a few songs, got a few I'm not sure of right now but is considering.

Either do Dimmu Borgir - Kings of carnival creation and or Cradle of Filth - Well, anything Cradle of Filth.

Not really a fan of either, as that is a genre I never cared a particular much for...sorry =(

Any other ideas? I remember hearing a Scorpions song I would have liked to do, but trying to find it now...browisng their discography, so I might find something else. Same with Eric Clapton.

cooleo : Would you believe me if I said I actually spent some time learning that song X D The difficulty is not in the actual song to be honest but my main challenge is emulating certain sounds due to the necessity of three guitars and several effects pedals, which I don't need on the most part.

As for Kyrptonite... I just find the vocals extremely annoying, and the chorus and solo just sounds way too generic for my liking.

alexanyways : Thought about it, but to be honest it feels a bit of a cop out going for that song. I learned a chunk of the solo, largely by ear and...it just wasn't much fun to really learn.

Okay, how about "City On Flame With Rock And Roll" by Blue Oyster Cult?

alexanyways : Don't really like that song a whole lot...it feels way too much like they're trying to be "rock n roll" but...yeah. The soloing is decent but on the whole, I just don't like it enough to sit down and learn.

hnnn : Enter Sandman is already one I knows to a degree, and I want to limit the "flagship" songs from artists, like the ones they're known for. That's one of the reasons I didn't include as many extremely well known ones from artists, as I generally feels that isn't always their strongest. As for the RHCP...could you give me some more to work with? From what I've been hearing so far doesn't inspire me to go and learn.
