billythekidmonster : I still don't see how it is f*cking with tha  fans or pooping in your face, they reduced the cost of the system, and give free stuff to people who paid the original price. Seriously what is wrong with this? Don't tell me you allready own the games because regardless of who owns it they are giving them away FREE and there is nothing wrong with this. I basically see it as incentive to buy the system before the price drop aswell as fanfare for loyal customers.

Maybe Nintendo should have increased the price and taken any old games off the DSIware / eShop, that would have made you happy right?

Nintendo has been my favourite game company for 20+ years, I am a life long fan and I am not mad at all. I think you are just upset because you had to pay more money closer to the launch of the system.

I think their dropping the price because a lot of people don't think the 3DS is popular anymore.

Nintendo lost 300 million dollars because of poor 3DS sales, from what I have heard. That may be from projected sales numbers I am not sure. I also heard that the 180 price point will still give them a profit on each system sold. This coupled with the fact that PSVita is just around the corner and is priced at $250, It makes perfect sense for them to drop the prices, I would consider them crazy if they didn't.

Not in the slightest bit surprised in all honesty...first Nintendo grabs the hard core fans with the high price, which they knows will get significant sales, then they lower the price significantly to try and lure those unconvinced in. Good business modeling...but I'm still not buying it, as the library of games for the 3DS do not impress me in the slightest.

Honestly, Nintendo knew they have enough fans who would pay 250 for the system, and enough borderline fans who would happily pay 170 for it thinking it's a 'steal'.

I think I'll buy one now, because even though the system's titles look weak now, it'll blow up pretty soon. Then again the Wii U looks cool. Hmm...

Exclusive GBA games though. Nothing great but there are some gems in there. Of course then Nintendo will give them away for free anyway just to screw you.

Personally I thought it was a good thing. I am also glad they are doing anything at all for the customers who bought the 3DS before the price cut. I for one, was a little jealous of the 3DS owners because of all the amazing things they have. At least now I can join them without breaking more than just a piggy bank.

I'm happy they did this, but I don't like that I already have 3 3DS's, and I only get about $50 worth of games that I already beat all the way through, making my family lose over $175 on pointless crap like this happening 3 month later. This isn't financially good for Nintendo either, they're losing money either way, It costs $103 to make a 3DS, and they were making about $147 per system, and they sold 830 000 this whole time, meaning they only have made 122 010 000 in total from the system as a whole, being redirected to all of the stations they have isn't really paying out. With $169 being the new prices, they're only making a profit of $66 per system, which sucks for them because it directs the money flow very poorly in terms for profit for Nintendo, meaning that they will plunge even deeper into a sort of debt, in which they will lose most of their sales and the company as a whole will fall, hoping that the Wii U will come out then to save them, and that's gonna probably be expensive, and it's not really gonna sell well, and they might end up losing themselves.

Hoping for the best, they'll become like Apple, and have this become a huge selling point, beat Sony greatly, and possibly get back on the top of the video game industry. This would be huge.

Well the thing is with all consoles and it seems especially with hand helds the price IS going to drop almost within the year. This price drop just happened to be a very significant one. The smart move is to be patient and wait for a more diverse game library and this price drop. I do hear that people who bought the system early get around 20 free games which is a huge plus bud . But you should have held out for the inevitable price drop like a lot of us did and you would be happy about it. I couldn't push myself to but the 3ds because there were simply NO games worth buying upon launch and the price was ridiculous in my opinion. If I did by a hand held I would probably wait out for the VITA any way because I played the 3DS and the "3D" was sooooo meh.

billythekidmonster : I have one myself, I bought one for my sisters birthday (I gave in $170 and my mom paid the rest for her), and my brother also has one, which he never uses, I meant to say that there are 3 in my household.

I agree that until they realize that their fans are more important than their casual families, that they'll become a powerful company in the market again, but they are too focused on the fact that casual gamers equal money. They'll fail and fail until they realize that there are other people that could bring them up again.

I am really happy because I have not bought any of the game but Excite Bikes but that was free for about 2 weeks and i was lucky but now i'm really annoyed about this thing because i'm going on holiday like 10th august and i'm really angry could you please help me people please. Plus my 3DS was really good when I got mine but I had to wait about 2 months till E shop came so I was angry so I didn't play my 3DS till it came out.

I'm very happy that they dropped the price by 80 dollars. I might not have bothered to pick up a 3DS unless it was under 200 dollars so this is a big step forward for me. The system was simply a bit too expensive for it's launching price and it fell incredibly short on what games were available in the short term. I know that it is still a relatively new system but the sales must have clearly been deplorable for them to drop the price so acutely. Most people are waiting for the games that they saw at E3 to come out like Kid Icarus Uprising and Solid Snake and such to come out before they even consider buying the 3DS. I think that pricing it like the DSi will give people more incentive to buy the system and get some of the current games if they feel that now they are saving money. Now you can buy the system and two games for the old price of the system
