This game is slightly different from other monster raising games, like Pokemon. In this game, the major projectile is to become the greatest monster rancher. There is also a story into this and it has some good twist and turns in it. The graphics are great on this game; animation of the monsters in training and in battle.

The depth of the game is EXTREMELY long, but sometimes doing the same thing over again may feel repetitive (for those who wants to finish the game ASAP). However, the game is not hard...once you get the rhythm of how to play the game.

This game sets the bar up for addictiveness. The game is fun to play, and pretty exciting to raise different types of monsters.

In general, this game is a pretty good game to play for those looking for a different type of game, other than pokemon or digimon.

I love games like Digimon, Pokemon where you raise monsters and battle. I also loved the cartoon Monster Rancher back in the day on Fox Kids television programming network. Nice review though is there like shops/stores in the game, or like cities u travel to, do u walk, or instant travel. Again I like the review, though some games I like to see more detail

User mike- yes there are shops and plenty of npc/random encounters. but for the most part its all fast travel for place to place. although id advise tryin the ps1 version as there is much more monsters items and they added a feature where you can unlock different training grounds.
