Finished "ASOIAF: Clash of Kings" in about 2 weeks. I want to finish up to "Wind of Winter" before Season 7 of "Game of Thrones" comes out.

Do news stories count as books? If so then that's the most recent book I've read.

I have recently been reading the fantastic beasts and where to find them book because I wasn't really hyped for the movie. I was a bIt disappointed that it wasn't a story based book really but the info in it was pretty cool.

Recently, I read the book called Genetic Disorders: Opposing Viewpoints, and I guess I enjoyed it... I'm still thinking about the issues the book presented.

The other day, I finished NERDS 2: M is for Mama's Boy. I've thoroughly enjoyed this series so far. It's made me think about how much society depends on technology, as well as how we treat outcasts. The concept is clever and the plots are intriguing and funny!

I'm reading through the rest of The Sign of Four, a sherlock novel. I'm very interested in sherlock holmes stuff, and so far, even the first few chapters are absolutely amazing. But don't read it if you're addicted to cocaine.

I got my hands on Dangerous by Milo Yiannopolous. Back from my Gamnesia days I found myself into a chatroom with the author, and his viewpoints were sound, rational, and interesting. He's really well versed and experienced with his viewpoints, and while he has absolutely no filter, leading him to many bad decisions, I still find myself connected through him through how I knew him before his fame.

The guy is a really controversial figure and I love whenever he comes on stage to dish out some truth to people that call him a Nazi.

I am currently reading Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey. It's part of a huge series of books she wrote before she passed away a few years ago. Her son took up after that. Both are great writers though. If you like fantasy or sci-fi they are great books to look up.

*prepare for informal book review alert.*

One of the books I have read recently is the Maze Runner or at least the only book that I have enjoyed recently. Books in our present day are often getting stale, with some of the same cliches being continued with every author I read.

The Maze Runner is a pretty contextual book to our society today, with a basic plotline being that a boy named Thomas wakes up in an elevator, and encounters a maze which proves no way out. It is a heartfelt story and does provide some insight into how children are being played like pawns in different games, (e.e child soldiers, immigrants etc.), albeit in a rough representation. The twists in the book are quite narrow and shows signs of depth and continuity of the suspense laid throughout the book.

Though this, some parts are way too confusing for my taste: e.e The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials (near the end of the book)., and some parts just utterly don't make sense, e.e The Maze Runner (near the end of the book.) and while this does fit with the theme, it doesn't contemplate that a story is generally rational and that this book just doesn't deliver that sense, especially for being in a dystopian, yet realistic genre.

Descriptive writing drives the ingenuity of the story while also giving a lot of personality to all of the characters. One of the more interesting choices is to not stereotype the characters leading to exciting weaknesses in physical, and mental attributes. The main protagonist seems very weak and unthoughtful of others although the complexion of his aspects really isn't revealed until the middle of the book. All characters seem likable save one which will come very obvious throughout the beginning of the second book.

Overall, fantastic read if you are looking for something more thorough, would definitely recommend to more mature audiences.

I just finished "The Ritual" by Adam Nevill.  It's a horror story where a group of four Englishmen travel to Scandinavia and run into an ancient God and its followers who are bent on destroying the world.  There's atmosphere, suspense, horror, blood and violence, and it's not for the emotionally unstable or younger crowd.  It's a tough book to get through because it is vividly descriptive and not that many folks make it out in the end.

Read at your own discretion and don't expect to sleep much.  It was 400 pages and I knocked it out in less than a week since it pulled me in and kept me.

I just finished SLIME by John Halkin. This was a fun pulp-horror novel from the 1980's about killer jellyfish.

SLIME is certainly not great literature, by any means, but it's gruesome, mindless entertainment, and I enjoyed it.

I recently read this book on Dunkirk. It was released a couple months ago along with the movie and about 3 weeks ago I found it in Barnes and Noble. I was so excited to see it and I got it right away even though it has nothing to do with the movie.

It's funny because about a week after I bought it I learned that I can use it for my final paper for my history class.

I just finished the 800 page Dan Simmons horror novel "The Terror."

In the late 1800s, Europeans are trying to find the Northwest passage to India to save time and effort.  Two ships, Erebus and Terror, get close and then get frozen in ice over the winter.  Now they're trying to survive while being hunted by an animal (or demon) that lives out in the frozen snowy Arctic tundra.

It's a great book that brings the atmosphere of the far north close to home.  The descriptions and the mood of the whole novel are closed in since the men can't go anywhere and the monster knows where they are.  Then they make a break for it and try to run with sleds and they're hunted the whole time.

It's a great book and worth the read.  I was intimidated by the size at first but I settled into it like a comfy couch.

Not exactly a book, but the last thing I read was a decently long analysis of how Western society is viewing "charitable acts" the wrong way - that we should not be painted as the good guy if we do them, but rather we should be painted as the bad guy if we do not do them. I had to argue against it as an essay prompt, and I must say it was a very interesting read.

“Famine, Affluence, and Morality” if anyone is interested.

I got the novelization for Solo: A Star Wars Story for Christmas and I can't stop reading it. The writing style so totally captures Han's personality.
