It would be nice to see a R/S remake after Gen 5, but this seems highly unlikely. The reason gen I and gen II were ported to remakes was to make them available to catch on later generations. Since you can transfer R/S Pokemon to P/D/P, you can transfer those to B/W and get the Pokemon there. So it's still possible to complete your Pokedex with the right games.

I guess it makes sense to remake them next, and they're both awesome games, but I can't see them doing it before they start Generation VI. Maybe its just me but Generation III seems too recent and similar than the generations before it that were remade. I won't complain if I'm wrong though!

I think they (for some strange reason) have been ignoring people wanting a 3rd Gen remake but they cant just jump into Gen 6 so I think that a 3rd Gen remake is happily inevitable

I personally would be happy if they would just stop making new Pokemon. The first, second, and third gen were good, but after that it seemed like the makers of Pokemon just quit trying. The fourth and fifth gen Pokemon are unbelievably silly and weren't given much thought. So in my opinion, unless they're going to remake Ruby and Sapphire without the fourth and fifth gen Pokemon they shouldn't remake them.

I would be up for a 3rd gen remake, but perhaps not for a while. My guess is that they're going to wait a year or so, and fill it in with spin-offs and such, before releasing a R/S remake. It would be cool to see one of those for the 3DS though.

They may make another a remake but not until a new gen comes out.
The reason I say this is because, like Someone70 said, you can still transfer your Pokemon from your R/S cartridge to B/W so if they did make a remake, they would probably wait until a new gen when you can't transfer Pokemon from R/S cartridge to the new gen games(If they make a new gen.)

First off did anyone here trade in their DS or DS lite? Most people who upgraded to DSI or 3DS will not have the ability to transfer 3rd Gen Pokémon to 5th Gen. Also take a look at the dive ball and notice that you can't encounter any Pokémon while using dive. And Realize that N has green hair.  I like the colour green and probably really irrelevant is that Emerald made a lot of things green I dunno I guess that maybe this will be solved in B/W2.

Don't get your hopes up new Gen will be Pokémon black 2 and white 2 but maybe later on down the track they will make a remake of ruby sapphire but if they made them they would make emerald to I like the idea of sapphire ruby emerald remakes
