Personally, I like the X series the most. I haven't even finished every X game (doing X5 right now) but the music, plot, Mavericks, and power-ups all seem to outdo all the other series.

I would vote for Mega Man X: Command Mission, it brought together an impressive story, voiceovers, and a few new faces to the Mega Man X world in a very sweet RPG package. I still loved Cinnamon the most, not only for being the healer of the team, but because she gets the cat claws that deal crazy damage over five hits.

i also loved the X series considerably more than the original, but its not to say the original is bad. The mega man x series was exactly my kind of game, it has a more serious tone, i like X as a character, Zero too, of course, and the upgrades and things such as that really set it apart. You needed them, because this game wasn't about to show you any mercy. the robot masters i also felt which were given much more personality.

Peh. Screw X.
Zero series is the boss. You will understand why with just the introduction stage of Megaman Zero 2. And then you will cry and weep with how freakin' hard Megaman Zero 2 actually is. Clearly the hardest in the series. Every single level has an instant death trap in it. Whether it be pits, spikes, lava, trying to squish you, precision jumping with 1 mistake = death, blind leap of faith jumps... you name it. Every single level has at least ONE of these (Yes, even the introduction stage) and almost every single level has two. Some levels have three different instant death traps. (The second stage: Forest of Dysis... Uuugh...) Also to me the Megaman Zero series had far more depth. You will SURELY realize this when you finish Megaman Zero 3 and 4. Admittedly, Megaman Zero 1 was... eh... They tried to copy the style of the X series. Unfortunately to understand the plot playing Zero 1 is very important. |

I have actually only played the originals for the NES (lame of me. I know). I love those. I plan on trying others sometime soon.
I'm moving this to the Megaman sub-forum. |

Battle Network.
I'm sorry, I'm not a fan of platformers generally. I prefer the RPG style of Battle Network. |

I love the Zero series. I mean, the X series is fun but I much prefer Zero because it's easier to control and I like the stories better.

My favorite of the Mega Man game series would have to be the original games for the NES. It's hard to beat the originals.

My favorite is the Original Series on the NES. Mega Man 2 and 3 are some of the greatest games I have ever played.
I like the X Series, just not as much as I like the original. |

I have played the Original series and the first three games of the X one... But, I prefer the Original one.
I don't like the dark and serious looking of the X. |

One: You're talking to the biggest Mega Man fan of this site. I've beaten 18 Mega Man games.
Two: I would definitely choose the non-repetitive storyline of the Megaman Zero series. Its plot outdid the rest instantly, and was just fun to play. Don't get me wrong, Mega Man X, and Mega Man classic were amazing. I just like the Mega Man Zero series a little bit more. |

Although the classic Megaman games are incredible, I grew up with the Battle Network series. The graphics and music are amazing, even if the story is a little basic. I have never played the X series, but one day I will. Apparently those games are awesome.

Darkpower508 : Yeah, the X series is great. But I think the Zero series is even better. The storyline is rich and not too repetitive and the gameplay is much better than the X series'. Heh. The X series is great because it's fun to play. It's got a good story in some parts of the series. The classic series is fun because it's a classic. All I need to say. The Battle Network series... I don't count those as Mega Man games. Sorry. They're not the same.

j4m3zizk0olo07 : The battle network series is as related to the Megaman games as Zelda II is to Zelda series. They might seem different so much so they it seems like an entirely new game, yet there are connections to it.

Despite the fact that I love platformers, and that Mega Man Classic and Mega Man X are both really fantastic in terms of game play, I have to side with Leggy on this one and go with the Mega Man NT Warrior / Battle Network series. First of all, these games actually have a story to them, which Legends did, but more than that, they have good graphics, fun music, and a phenomenal battle system. I've never played any other game like this, and I'd really like to play an MMO like this. When Mega Man Universe was announced, I was truly hoping for something like this.
I actually kind of want to learn how to make games so I can make an online version of Battle Net with customizable Navis. But I really don't know anything about it... =( |

I love megaman, the NES series is unforgetable, megaman 1-6 all on NES, 7 and 8 for SNES, then here's a suprise,
Megaman 7 and 8 aka Rockman 7 and 8 on famicom! I have only played megaman 3, 4, and 5. The NES games should be played first, the older the retro games are on the NES, the better! |
