This morning I was browsing Newsvine like usual, and suddenly I started getting security threat popups warning that my firewall was off. I knew this wasn't true, and the popup was from a virus itself. I opened the task manager and found the popup and checked its processor.

Its processor was a file called rev.exe*32. I figured that this was unimportant, since it had only been created some time this morning, so I found the file and deleted it. The popups stopped and I can open my browsers now (before I couldn't go anywhere, everything just said there was a security issue), but I have a new problem.

Now whenever I try to open a browser I get a popup that says "Choose the program you want to use to open this file." I can just select Firefox, IE, Chrome, etc. at this point, but I'm wondering if it's possible to fix this or if this has something to do with the file I deleted.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or help. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I'll probably try that if no one has any other ideas.

One last thing, YOU can search computer for "Internet options" or you can open "Internet explorer" then click on "options" then chose "Internet options"

then you must click on "Advanced" tab and then you must click on rest button at the down a little. Then click "ok". Hope I helped........Hi everyone,

I am not very good at the net, but from my experience at the computer I can tell that..........

1-  there is something in the computer called "backup and restore" or "recovery" ANYWAY,  that program should restore your files for earlier time like three days ago.

to open the program you can search for it in computer for "restore"  or "recovery". Or you can find it in control panel

if you can't open it on your computer then you can hit F8 many times when you turn on your computer.

2- the second possible solution is to try to install security programs like "Norton 360" , "Mcafee" if you haven't already install one.

3- the third possible solution is to search for the file that you have already deleted and install it again because may be it wasn't a virus file as you said.

4-  the fourth and last solution is called "upgrade windows" in another word it is solution used to Avoid a real danger and a serious problem.  you can download windows 7 files HERE.  then burn them using "express burn" or something like that. Be aware that it will delete all of your files, so backup your files before use the last solution.
