Well, due to an old tiny injure on my knee, I avoid stressing my leg by jogging or running too much. So walking fast is very nice for me.
And I agree with Bintsy, that walking fast helps to relieve stress and bad thoughts as well

I'm not sure if I walk more for the exercise or just because I have always gone for walks since I was a kid every day. I helps me gather my thoughts to walk by myself and I have good conversations with people when I walk with them. I've always been a big foot traveler and have never had a problem walking for miles our hours depending on how people view their walking. On foot is the best way to see a city or the country as I see it. I guess I am a hobbit like that.

sorry i dont mean to offend but i dont think walking is exercise i think it does help stress n stuff but at the end of the day its just walking like some friends of mine said they wanted to loose weight by walking which dosent work, but for my exercise i like to ride my bike as fast as possible or go out and play football, ive taken up running now to compete with my dad in the next marathon because he keeps telling me he wants to run a marathon with me before he dies which is quite grim but hey he's mah pops. so yeah atm i do alot of running

Yes, with a tight schedule, I do not have the luxury of spending hours in a gym. Instead I walk to get lunch, sometimes bike home, and the vice versa coming to school. Walking is the most convenient exercise and I am sure I get a nice amount of it. Walking between classes with a backpack is an exercise itself.

I rarely walk solely for exercise. There is about always some intended target that I would like to reach and my walking is just the healthier way to get there.

I walk, but for transport, not exercise.  I run enough for cross country / track / indoor track that I don't need to.  I live about 1.7 miles from my school, and my poorly designed bus route drops me off last after 55 min.  So naturally, I go home on foot whenever weather permits it. I walk home more often than I run there because of all my heavy books, jeans, Wal-Mart shoes, etc.

I am a very athletic person playing competitive soccer, baseball and basketball and I never walk, I run instead. . I do a lot of exercise because one of my goals is to become an american ninja warrior so I do a lot of push ups and sit ups and sprints and pullups and etc. I have another eight years to train before I go to the tryouts because you have to be 21and sadly I am only 13... Alas, I will still keep on training.

I get really into stuff that's actively motion sensing, doing the full motions for whatever it is I'm supposed to do. I know some people do things the lazy way and make the minimum wrist flick for it to read, but I full-on swing it around... sometimes move parts of my body that aren't required just because I'm in the zone.

I don't.  I normally run.  I'm trying to encourage my friend to start walking at least to work out though.  Then she can start jogging, then eventually run with me!  I'm trying to get my friends to work out more often.  A lot of my friends aren't really fit.

I don't go out walking with the INTENTIONS of getting exercise.  I mean, I get plenty of walking in every day going back and forth between work, and walking around my classroom all day (I'm a very energetic teacher and I never stay in one place for long.)

Walking is exercise? I do, do exercise then! I thought I was pure lazy. I go walking whenever I have chance during the week, I'm not saying I'm a fitness fanatic but I do my bit! I walk for a few hours everyday, especially when I'm with friends. More company = more exercise.

Hell yeah I walk for exercise.

But more often I drive for exercise, I drive to the gym. zing.

On days I chose to only walk for exercise I make it intense,  here is my routine, weather permitting.

First i walk to a track and field stadium located near my house, a 3 mile go. and i alternate between a walking and jogging pace. Once  at the stadium I do 25 sets of running up the giant stadium stairs. broken up by laps around the track, followed by tire pushups.

Most times when I need a breath of fresh air, I just go outside and walk for a little because I know that It will cool ALL of my anger down! Do you ever do this man? So walking isn't really my type of exercise. But if you are planning on working out, it's best to walk first don't just straight up run because it will hurt. You need to get your blood pumping. This is how I do it anyways, could be different from other strategies. It's pretty much common sense.

I prefer steady walking / running at least about 1km per day. Other than relieving stress and such, it train us to have better stamina especially for our heart beat. Based from my experience, I got tired easily and breathing heavily for a long time rest even after running for 100 metres. I prefer steady walking / running at least about 1km per day. Other than relieving stress and such, it train us to have better stamina especially for our heart beat. Based from my experience, I got tired easily and breathing heavily for a long time rest even after running for 100 metres. However, after I kept doing that at certain day till now, my heart beat has improved better. I could rest for only a few seconds and then continue running with high spirit. Yeah I walk and run sometimes. Sometimes I go out my house and walk around the whole place block past block. I am getting pretty good exercise but only sometimes I have a chance to do that. I also run when I feel like it, seems like the same exercise but faster.
