Take what you will from that. Walking IS good exercise, it will give you health benefits, and it has roughly 3x less injury potential. It isn't as intense... no... and if you're trying to lose weight running burns 2x as much calories. But being heavy increases your potential to injure yourself by an order of magnitude. Just the very act of running (studies show) causes far more damage to the joints over time than walking. There is something to both of them.
On topic now, I do walk. Every single day. I also do much more intense exercises for my whole body including my legs though. I am trying to get back in shape myself.
Yeah around my neighborhood it's a safe place to walk around at. Only residents can enter the neighborhood. it's now winter so I won't be getting any excercise But I will like a workout machine for Christmas though.
I walk, but for transport, not exercise. I run enough for cross country / track / indoor track that I don't need to. I live about 1.7 miles from my school, and my poorly designed bus route drops me off last after 55 min. So naturally, I go home on foot whenever weather permits it. I walk home more often than I run there because of all my heavy books, jeans, Wal-Mart shoes, etc.
For exercise of recent, I rarely walk. I have picked up on taking 3 mile jogs and have seen really nice resultsâ€¦ I can do the whole thing without getting really tired and I feel more refreshed throughout the day.
Usually I don't/ didn't. Recently my nana moved in (as in visiting) and she's been walking everyday and my dad always tells me to get up off of the computer (or whatever else I'm doing) and go walk with her. I thoroughly enjoy the time I spend with her as we talk about stuff because we really don't keep in contact that much. -
I dont walk I run, walking burns calories but not enough to make an impact for me,If were talking about just getting to destinations then yeah I walk instead of driving as long as its not like 3 miles away lol.
I am a very athletic person playing competitive soccer, baseball and basketball and I never walk, I run instead. . I do a lot of exercise because one of my goals is to become an american ninja warrior so I do a lot of push ups and sit ups and sprints and pullups and etc. I have another eight years to train before I go to the tryouts because you have to be 21and sadly I am only 13... Alas, I will still keep on training.
