On the Global Warming front, I think its almost been debunked by now. However if I see some ill effects in my lifetime I am ready for them. Sub zero temperatures? I am ready. I am hairy and have some blubber stored up for the lean times. I will welcome the chance to prove I am a being capable of adapting to the changing environment. The way I figure it is most scientists are just talk anyways, I don't put too much stock in it. I take an agnostic view.

Why aren't senators and reps doing anything about this? If you had listened to the movie which you deemed a load of 'propoganda' then you would have known that this was addressed. There are people doing things about this, unfortunately, they are not doing nearly enough. (Because a large percentage of the population doesn't even believe that it exists or that it will affect their children's lives.)

Nothing to do with global warming? Yes, there was climate change before we were burning oil. However, it was not at nearly the severity and it took place over a much larger period of time.

Geeogree: Only five degrees Celsius? Not much? A three degree shift brought us out of an ice age! Some parts of the world being too hot to live in is the least of our concerns. The concern is flooding, weather changes, and the possibility of skin cancer becoming an epidemic. Also, if climate changes too fast for plant life to adapt to it then we are all dead.

I'm going to make a short post here to ressurect this thread because we are heading in to the coldest winter many countries have had in decades.

Canada is having it's first all white Christmas in 35 years. That is where every city in the country has at least 2 cm (or about 1 inch) of snow on the ground on Christmas day.

Honestly.... what evidence can anyone come up with that would convince the global warming group that they might be wrong? Is there anything? I highly doubt it. You can take any news story out there and someone somewhere has blamed global warming and CO2 on it. It's ridiculous.

the antarctic actually has more ice on it than it did 10 years ago. It's averaging lower than it did last year but overall there is more ice now than there was between 1979 and 2000

The global warming theory indicates that storms of greater magnitude and more drastic, severe seasons will occur. Where US States such as Louisiana, Texas, Florida, etc have their hurricane season, things have drastically changed. Look at hurricane Katrina or Ike (The storm was nearly the size of Texas itself! In areas prone to colder winters, Canada, parts of the northern United States, etc, where it snows moderately have seen greater storms in the past two years. In Spokane, Washington there was more snow this winter than ever since weather had began being recorded.

Global warming does not simply affect places getting warmer, it also means that where it's cold it gets colder, where it's rainy it gets more rainy, where there are hurricanes, they become worse. I live in a desert in southern California. Our winters are becoming milder, in fact, I've only used the heater in my car a handful of times this winter. And our summers are getting dreadfully hotter and more humid. Temperatures have reached over 118 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer more than once in the past ten years. Bleh.

After what was supposed to be the "coldest winter" for many years, PA has had 2 straight days of 60 degree or higher weather. That isn't supposed to happen in FEBRUARY.

Keep in mind also that climate doesn't include one or two years. Climate is based on the average weather of, let's say, 100 years.

I know, but geeogree and jigsaw were trying to use the temperatures and conditions at the beginning of this winter as an argument so I'm providing a good counterargument

let me clarify.... I'm not arguing that the world is warming. It has been doing that independent of human activity for 10,000 years. I just don't buy the argument that CO2 is what is causing all the warming.

Belial: global warming has become "Climate Change" and it now encompases EVERY weather event imaginable. More rain or less, both are caused by climate change. More or less of anything is Climate Change now.

Does no one else find that to be a tad bit too convenient? And what evidence would convince the Climate Change group from their opinions? Is there anything that hasn't already been blaimed on Climate Change that could sway any opinions? Not that I can see.

Although there is that pesky "consensus among the majority of scientists" which of course means that something must be true if lots of people believe in it right? Except that there are hundreds if not thousands of scientists from numerous fields that don't believe that CO2 is driving the warming of the last century.

Also, global warming causes climate change. Warmer water temps. (caused by warmer global temps.) make stronger storms and melt ice caps. Hotter temperatures also cause desertification, hotter summers and irregular winters with record-setting high temperatures. Today, PA had the hottest february 11th on record.

Also, the vast majority of scientists believe that global warming is occurring. And it's not just CO2 that's causing it, it's other chemicals that we put into the air that trap heat in Earth's atmosphere combined with a climate cycle that would be causing higher temperatures as is. Basically, humans are currently making things much worse than they should be.
