Well a rock n roll band. They mostly tell stories in their songs based on the bible. They also are the founders of "God gave rock n roll to us"...I think.

I'm not a big fan of music that talk about christianity in their songs but Norma Jean is one of my favorite bands and they're a bunch hardcore christians.

I don't know if any of you guys would like them though...they do a alot of inaudible yelling.

I have problems with some of this CCM (rock, and rap) that tries its hardest to make itself sound, and look like the music that the rest of the unsaved world is listening to. "Come fourth and be ye separate saith the Lord". Do not get me wrong, I am not trying to sound self-righteous. I occasionally listen to certain contemporary Christian music, it is not all wrong. But, I believe that true Bible believing Christians should be careful about what they listen to. Ask yourself, "Am I listening to this to satisfy my wants, or to glorify God?" "Do all to the glory of God" not because you like the style of the music, but because you like how it represents God.

I listen to music for enjoyment but sing to god to please him even though I suck at singing. I don't think he cares about that.

there's an interesting south park episode that concerns this topic, and it's kind of insightful about that. it gives the impression that some people really just do that kind of stuff for money

Yes it is alright to listen to music for enjoyment, but I do not believe that should be all a Bible believing Christian should listen to. Obviously he cares about what you listen to if what you listen to contradicts his character. That is good that you sing even though it may not be your "thing". Most people don't. Just be careful with what you listen to.

Yeah, I don't know if I would go straight to South Park, but yes it is the sad truth. They do "Christian" music just to jump-start their music careers, and some find more money this way so they just continue and occasionally say something that sounds Christian to keep people believing it is the truth. The 90s group Nsync demonstrated this exceptionally well. They jumped to secular as soon as they got enough money from the "Christian" market. They were never truly born again Christians.

I'd have to agree. I listen to Christian Music for what the messages are. But more importantly, I worship God as I listen. To tell the truth, I'm kinda surprised that I didn't see Casting Crowns on this list. They are my All-Time favorite Christian Band. I listen to them all the time! I have all but one of their albums, I have Casting Crowns, Lifesong, and The Altar and the Door, the only one I don't have is their Christmas album, because I didn't know they released one until it was too late. And my All-Time favorite song? It would have to be a tie between Voice of Truth and What This World Needs, both by Casting Crowns.

Edit: Forgot to put stuff about music... lol. I love music, play it all the time. Playing drums for three and a half years, guitar for two... bass for 2... something like that. Anyway, I like most Christian music... just NO COUNTRY PLEASE!!! (or metal)

I myself don't listen to much Christian music, but I don't listen to any of kind of music much either. I like Skillet, Switchfoot, 5 Iron Frenzy, and Relient K. I saw Skillet live, they came to my university last spring.

Probably MercyMe, Chris Rice (his older songs), Phil Driscoll, Third Day, Casting Crowns, Newsboys, DC Talk, I like a lot of Christian bands.

I will list my favorite christian bands in no specific order with the type of music they play listed next to them. Also a side note, if I put "alternative" then that is essentially your screamo, hardcore, grindcore.. whatever you want to call it.

Norma Jean - Alternative

For Today - Alternative (hits like agape)

The Almost - Indie rock (mostly do covers)

Between Hope and Faith - Alternative

The Chariot - Alternative (crazy live shows)

Hillsong United - this is the band a church in Australia and they are absolutely great singing favorites such as "mighty to save" "take it all" and "salvation is here"

A plea for purging - alternative

Sleeping giant - alternative (I cried when they did "oh praise him" live because it was so insanely powerful to have that many christians together in a room and truly worshipping the one and only god.)

and last but not least

The Welcome Wagon - not really sure how to describe them, just listen to their myspace to get a taste of it.

I like Hillsong United, very talented people...well pretty much pros.
Hmm...these days now everyone like Chris Tomlin and Brooke Fraisier.
I'd have to say I like Matt Redman, Jeremy Camp and Kari Jobe. Kari Jobe has an amazing voice. I also like Desperation Band and New Life Worship. Very good, sort of the same style as Hillsong United though.

Tim Hawkins (go to YouTube, search I Don't Drink Beer. Hilarious! You could also try Old Rock Star Songs. You'll get a kick from that one, especially if you know the songs. Then there's Cletus Take the Reel... I'll stop the list could go on forever.)

For those of you who haven't heard of him, Tim Hawkins is a Christian comedian who uses music for a lot of his stuff. He typically takes pre-existing tunes and puts his own words to them. An example would be MercyMe's "I Can Only Imagine" becoming "I Can Only Eat Margarine" (look that one up too!).

I'm not a huge fan of many Christian bands but there are two that I really like. They are Skillet and Relient K.

I don't listen to as much music as I'd like to. That said, Christian music remains at the top of my list of favorite genres. My top favorites are tobyMac, Jars of Clay, and DC Talk in order from greatest to least, DC Talk being as low as it is because they've gone on "hiatus" as if they're embarrassed to admit that they've broken up.

tobyMac is probably the best music artist I've ever heard. In his DC Talk dayz he was one of three people who took the rap scene and made it Christian. They were pioneers. Today he's extending that into rap's sub-genres as well, with titles like Hey Devil and Momentum appealing to those who like heavy stuff with lots of cool effects, and City On Our Knees appealing to the quieter, more emotion-driven person. Combine that with his ability to apply humor to an otherwise serious album, most notably through his son truDog, and you've got a heckuvan artist on your hands.

Jars of Clay I've heard less of, but I like them because their music appeals to Christians and non-Christians alike. They've even stated that their music is meant to be heard by the secular public. You can interpret most of the stuff I've heard of them either as romantic music or religious music, and it's all very emotion-driven, making it a very good listen IMO.

That's all I have to say, really. I don't listen to much more music, unfortunately. However, I have been looking for some good electronica or techno in the Christian music scene.

My favorite group has got to be Skillet, I am rather upset that I am going to miss seeing them this summer at Sonshine but I have a friend getting married the same weekend. I like a large amount of other groups including in no particular order Pillar, dcTalk, Jars of Clay, Geoff Moore & the Distance, Third Day, Michael W. Smith (his older stuff a lot more than the newer), Newsboys, Living Sacrifice, Zao, Bride, Mortification, Tourniquet, Audio Adrenaline, and most definitely Rich Mullins. It doesn't matter if the groups are still together anymore. If I find a group I like I search like mad to find more by the artists.

I really like the news boys. They're really cool. And the David Crowder band is another really good one. I don't listen to to much Christian music, but when I do, it is those bands. I like some others a lot to.

Well, I love listening to Relient K, Sanctus Real and Switchfoot. Then there's David Crowder Band, Skillet, dcTalk, Toby Mac, Michael W Smith and some others that I like.

Tim Hawkins... I've definitely heard of him. he's pretty funny lol.

Back in the day I used to listen Skillet and, if I remember the name correctly, Pillar. Not too many christian bands that I fell in love with though.

Before I became a Christian my favorite bands were Pantera and Metallica. The music I like has heavy guitar and fast drums so Christian bands like this have lyrics that are hard to discern or they just scream obnoxiously. But I like some of the music from the Christian band 12 Stones , it just can't be too mellow-sounding or it'll make me cringe.

Oh, Sleeper and The Devil Wears Prada are good Christian metal bands.

i am a fan of industrial styled music so most of my suggestions are of that style.

i used to like skillet more, mainly their albums "hey you, i love your soul", "invincible", or "alien youth" but then they started just sounding like every other popular nu-metal group around these days and i just couldn't get into it.
i personally like sound artists who are attempting to be more creative and explore new frontiers, while also giving the Glory to God!

yes, it is unfortunate but a lot of sound artists have used the christian music industry as a springboard to get into the industry and then totally turn their backs on God, but it's not really to surprising when it is a business.
money, fame, and being avant garde and "artsy" can prove quite the stumbling block if Christ is not the Focus of such endeavors as well.
a group i didn't list "circle of dust" was founded by a guy who has a lot to say about this very topic in fact.
it was one of the earliest industrial groups in the Christian scene, however he too has ceased to use his talents for Glorifying Christ.

Disciple and Eternal Decision are my favorite. Like I said earlier, my favorite bands used to be Pantera and Metallica, but I've found that the Christian bands Disciple and Eternal Decision sound pretty much identical to them.

I like all christian music. I personal don't have any favorites, but if I have to choose, I'd say the singers in my church and David Mann.

Yeah, I like the singers at my church that come along every while. John Fukala, it's even better from the point of view of the Alter, as I'm an Alter server.

her new cd, "time and space", is due out sometime this fall.

i really enjoyed her Praise and Worship lyrics way back when, and they are still pretty good with some enjoyable danceable music to accompany them.
she even did some remix work with paradoxx, on one of their songs and on one of hers.

Don't listen to Christian music much anymore since I've grown bored of the material that gets recycled, but only considered original by the critics because of different lyrics. I do like some...

My favorite artists are many; Skillet, Toby Mac, Sanctus Real, News Boys, DC Talk and Jake Hamilton. The list I believe goes on, I have felt God move in the songs of all these people, so they make as good of favorites as any other christian artists.
