I know some C++ and I hear C# is very similar, so I've decided that I am going to try to make a game for XBLA (only real platform I could publish too aside from mobile). Anyone else messed around or thought about trying to code one?

Info systems major,

Not much experience with C++ still learning, and no experience yet with C# but I hear that the syntax is very similar and Microsoft gives access to lots of tutorials. This is just to do something more practical with programming and see what it's like. Who knows maybe I'll love making games.

I've looked into it a little and even downloaded Microsoft Visual Studios to practice first. I might start on a small project over the summer, and I'll consider uploading it as an Indie game.

It looks pretty cool, but since I only have any real experience in Java right now it'll take some work. I think it would be best to download the packages on the Indie games website and mess around with them to see what the changes do.

I'd be interested to hear about your experience as well. Any idea what type of game you're going to try to make?

By the way, if you're going to be uploading a game you may want some Royalty free music, so you don't have to pay to use it. Here is a site that I thought was a pretty good resource for that.

And my brother's a software developer that works in C# and took Java in school like me and he said the same thing as well. If/when I get some experience working with it I'd be willing to work on part of a project with you if you ever needed help.
