My posting has been below par the past month, and I haven't had much to really say.

Could you check statistics for the past 2 days, compared to a 2 day spread in the VCs, and a 2 day spread in mid January?

I'm intrigued.

What I'm seeing is this...

In the 2 days since chat was removed, we are averaging 482.5 posts.
In a VCS month, I took five random days, and avreraged... around 730 posts (being a VCS mind you)
And in a normal month, I used January, 5 random days 457.2 posts.

So while posting is up by about 30 posts (being a non VCS month, it's not been enough yet to notice too big a difference.

I think in a few days, we can revisit it, and see if theres an increase, but because we have a small sample size, it's hard to tell.

Yeah, it'd make sense that posting has gone up. Now users aren't wasting their time in the chat rooms and instead posting. I think that's a pretty good thing.

A page view by one of them is the same as a page view by one of us.

Loyalty is nice and all, but still page views are important. I fear without chat, while posts will go up, page views might slip a bit more.

Not a huge deal no, but every page view counts. I like everyone being happy and having a reason to come here.

Those people in the RGR rarely post either, so it's not like that's doing a ton.

When it boils down to it, I think yes, posting is nice for some people, games ae good for others. Chat is another zone where people come here for. And I think that alone makes it worth looking at, because if you CAN touch every base, why not?

It's like saying, ok, the defense has no chance of catching up to me on this breakaway. Do I go for the easy layup, or slam it home?

The chat room is the only thing on this site that hurts vizzed more than it helps. Posting helps increase search engine rankings because it adds content to the site and also ad revenue goes up because people are viewing ads. People in the Retro Game Room view a lot of pages and therefore that also increases ad revenue and some people in the RGR submit content such as screenshots, comments and reviews to the game pages and some users post and do other things to earn viz in order to play more games. The chat room doesn't benefit vizzed at all, doesn't increase ad revenue, doesn't give incentive for people to earn viz and it doesn't add content to the site, all it does is add extra strain on server. I of course want a chat room and will try my hardest to get a new one up as soon as I can but I just wish people didn't become so dependent on it that the only thing they want to do on this site is chat in the chat room.

As has been reccomended in the past, maybe implement a post requirement to chat? I'd say 30 a month would be adequate for chatters, this way the people get their chat room and you get your pageviews/post count.

I'm just trying to come up with ways the chat room could be beneficial.

legacyme3 : Something like that could work. Another possibility would be to make the chat room only available at certain times of the day. Another would be to make it so you need to make 1 post per every hour you spend in there, not sure how that would work but it'd be like a parking meter lol.

I agree completely, any problem causers would effectively be rooted out from the get go. This also makes for a fair compromise between chatting and posting, allowing this site to reach its full potential.

Lol it seems all the comments here are just people saying how they want to donate but for some reason or another can't, which means they are just sucking up. Also I'm starting to think I may be a little older than 95% of vizz users since all of them are complaining about how their moms won't let them donate. Am I the only one here who actually holds a job?

I'm older than the majority of users here. Most members here are in the 13ish area, and are for the most part, just pre adult teenagers.

They don't have a job, and I can't really condemn them, mostly because it's hard for myself to get a job. I'm trying of course, but this economy really sucks.

Anyway, are YOU gonna donate then Mr. I Have a Job? Because if I had steady income I would.
