Well, scientifically talking, there is actually a higher chance that we are all part of an extremely advanced computer program where life plays out according to the programmers who made it, which they would probably make it like real life, but once the program is widespread, any person can control billions of people's lives when they think they are actually alive. So, I like to believe that we will all die when the electricity goes out, or when they decide they are done with us.               Obviously, I, along with many other people, do not believe this. But, statistically, it is more possible then anything else.

Here is a website that has the original paper on it. It also has links to synopses and random articles:

http://www.simulation-argument.com/

Anyway, back to the original question, I do not believe in the whole world ending in 2012.

I can assure you I do not believe in the idea that the Sun will kill us through a supernova.... It will expand into earth first AND THEN go into a supernova It can't just up and explode. If I recall, it's energy will get used up, it expands past earth, and then will start the supernova. I don't believe in the theory of 2012 or the Revelations, and this is the only logical explanation that I believe in. If anything else, I would imagine a huge modernized plague enveloping the earth, or a massive nuclear weapon being fired, that not only wipes out every species, but as well breaks the earth apart, making each piece float away and eventually form into asteroids.

I believe that no matter how many times people predict when the world will end they will be wrong. I believe that God has predicted a special day for the world 2 end and no man knows when they day will be no matter how much they predict.

The Bible states that the end will come like a thief in the night. That no man will know the time or day the end will come. However, we will know the season. The some scientist have translated this whole Mayan thing to mean a new beginning or the end of something old. They are not even saying that it means the end of the world. They are saying that it could be a start of something totally different then the world we know today. sometimes you have to think positive, but prepare for the worst. I myself am going to do what I normally do and live life the best I can until my days on this earth are over.

MegaRevolution1 : You are right about the sun to an extent. Our sun isn't nearly big enough to go into supernova. It will simply die, and become a white dwarf. It won't even reach earth before that happens. Stars between 1.3-2.0 times the size of our sun go into supernova, and even those only become neutron stars. Only stars of the supergiant category actually become black holes after supernova. So our world won't be taken out like that. If we don't kill ourselves first, scientifically speaking, the world will run it's own course. The world can continue to change due to volcanic and seismic activity to push out more land that replaces what gets eroded from the rain and tides hitting land. But that energy comes from heat energy from the Earth's core, which isn't an infinite amount. When that energy runs out, there will be no more volcanic eruptions and no my tectonic activity. So no land production will be made to replace what gets eroded away by water. After millions of years, all land sediment will be eroded away into the water, making the planet a marine world where land above water will never exist again.

Though that will happen (given nothing else happens that interferes with that) I think humans will run their course before that. I believe in the eventual Revelation, but I have a feeling I will die before that happens. But I am sure that the people who are alive during it will be thinking the same thing about that.

Then I'll guess all our sins will remain here,We'll slowly die by running out of food and water, more war and disease will be heading our way expect the worse out of all living things in the future.Peace on earth will never exist as long as there's life . Don't  view  me as the anti-Christ for this matter. We're unaware of our sins and continue to live on without knowing the damage we had cause.

I noticed that I did not mention my answer for whether or not I believe in the whole 2012 thing. I do not. It makes no sense to assume that just because the Mayan calendar did not go past 2012, that means they were predicting the end of the world. I would assume that if they were, they would have mentioned it in another way. Given that the Mayans were pretty much wiped out, that means that they stopped making a calendar. 2012 is very likely the date they were on when they were wiped out. Obviously, they can't keep continuing the calendar if they are gone.

thenumberone : Actually, you have survived more. You have survived Y2K, that crazy guys 'predictions' (actually, didn't he make 2?), and the 2012 thing is probably going to be a bust. Just goes to show that we can't leave it up people to predict the end of the world. Silly mortal humans.

December 21, 2012 is the end of a bak'tun, the longest cycle of time in the Mayan calendar. The Long Count was just counting to the end of the bak'tun, and when it ends, it'll be a time of celebration. When my kitten calendar ends, it doesn't mean the world is ending. It just means my next kitten calendar is on its way.

You know I hear that the world is supposed to end this year but I really think that it won't happen despite everyone saying that its supposed to end in December on the 21....I really think that its just a bunch of hogwash if you really want my opinion so as far as that still going about, I think everyone should keep their heads up on this thing and stop believing that the world will end cause it's a good chance that it won't happen and there are a lot of people really looking forward to living the rest of their lives happily without anything happening to them so let's keep our heads up about this people and hopefully we can look forward to see more and more days in our lives.

I don't believe that the world will end this year. I have a simple theory as to why the world will not end, as the Mayans predicted.
If the Mayans could predict the future, there'd still be Mayans around today. It's quite simple when you think about it lol

Any and all accounts of the apocalypse are almost undeniably false. I am going to present some information that comes from Wired magazine last month.
Typically, there are four culprits to apocalypse hypotheses. 1 is chemicals, another is disease, third people, and lastly resources.
1.)50 years ago, a book named Silent Spring explored the idea that chemicals were causing problems, especially cancer, in humans. So obsessed with the idea that airborne chemicals were killing humans that he once published in a magazine that he believed pesticides and other synthetic materials were actually the leading cause of lung cancer, and that cigarette smoke was not. And yet now many years later, with just as many if not more chemicals circulating our atmosphere, cancer death rates have actually dropped. Later, one scientist said that by 1985, the air pollutants would reduce the amount of sunlight on earth by one half. Instead, air quality in big cities and around the world has improved in the last few decades. Yet another fanatic said in 1981 that acid rain was killing forests, and that over half of Germany's trees were already dead or dying, and most US lakes were already poisoned from the acid. And yet a few years later we gave in to reason and realized that all of our trees are actually growing more efficiently than in past decades, and our lakes are sustaining more wildlife than in recorded history.
2.)In 1976, one man in Fort Dix died of the swine flue, creating a massive panic. The government distributed millions of vaccines to counter the disease. But ironically, more people died of the vaccination than the disease itself. In 1987, it was projected that 1 in 5 heterosexuals was to die from AIDS by 1990. False. In the 1980s, a mad cow disease spread to humans, and one researcher estimated that 136000 people would be killed . The actual result: less than 200.
3.)Overpopulation has scared many as well. It was said in 1970 that it was already too late to avoid starvation. We are still alive 40 years later. Family size is shrinking all over the world, and it is becoming very unlikely that the world will ever double in population again, and at the same time food production per capita has doubled. Food prices have reached record lows.
4.)In 1977 President Carter said that oil production would wane out in the next 6 years. Others said that we would run out of gold, silver, and other precious metals by 1990. In 1956 it was said that natural gas production would peak and fall off around 1970. In 2007, we discovered fracking and a new natural gas boom ensued.
Although I started to make it brief towards the end, my point is still the same. Of the hundreds, if not thousands, of doomsday predictions in the past century, not one of them has come to reality.

I believe that all three predictions of the end of the world may all be true. Just look at the economy, gas prices are ridiculous, its harder to find good paying jobs, kids are having kids with no knowledge of what there going to do in the future. It's almost like the world has gone all out of wack. I believe that all three of them are right just for the fact that we all are living in a dieing world. Eating up the worlds resources, whether its oil, trees, and other natural resources, life is not getting any better.

The movie 2012 scared the crap out of me because it looks possible that the Earths plates can shift at that magnitude and destroy everything. But I don't believe that will happen sometime during 2012. Maybe a few thousands or billion years later it will. That's just how I feel. Nothing wrong with that.

Nope dude I don't believe in those kind of stuff until it really happen in real life. They have no evidence to prove that the world will end on 2012. They only have a calendar left by very religious culture.

I don't believe that world will end in 2012. Why? Becuase think about it. How can the world end on December 21, when one part of the world will be a day ahead or a day behind when the end of the world takes place? If the world is to end on 1 specific date, then the other part of the world would have said that the world will end on the 20th or the 22nd. Yet the Chinese say (in theory) that the world will end on the 21st as well. So that would mean that if the Chinese are right, then the Mayans are wrong because the their part of the world will end a day before or after the 21st (I forget which one.) So you can disprove the specific day the world will end based on the Earth's rotation. Now you might think that Mayans have just made a mathmatical mistake; but let me ask you this? How could an ancient society that is know for being very advanced in astronomy could say that the whole world will end on the 21st of December could not account for the fact that the Earth's rotation would cause the on part of world to end on the 20th or 22nd of December?

A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool speaks because he has to say something.

Honestly, I know the world is not going to end. Do you know how many "predictions" have come and gone over the centuries? And even in the Bible, "the end of the system of things" does NOT mean the world is going to blow up or that all of mankind if going to die. Just a lot of people misunderstand the Bible. Or don't take the time to actually read it. I know we'll all still be alive and kicking for 2013 to come.

Courage is not having the strength to go on, it's going on when you don't have the strength. ????

First off don't just believe what you are told or what you have read because it most likely is not the truth. Second to all who say the mayans didnt sacrifice it was the Aztecs.....well your wrong Mayans def believed that sacrifice was a way to please the gods. If you actually study religion you will find out that a man named John wrote the book of revelations. Not john the baptist or john the saint....it was another john. This John lived in rome and in Rome you would be executed for being a christian. Because of this even the most devout christians prayed to pagan gods in the public and in the eyes of the romans to please the government and conceal that they were christians. John saw this as the biggest act of blasphemy the world has ever seen and it made him very angry at the christians that were living in rome. So.....John wrote 7 letters and sent them to seven roman cities and all seven letters make up the book of revelations. The most likely reason he made this book or seven letters was to scare the christians into believing that if they continued to worship pegan gods they would burn in hell. Basically to sum it up the book of revelation was actually created to scare the christians to the point that they would never again worship anything but the teachings of christ.

To all who say that the prophecies of the bible are coming true...well I believe they are coming true but I think the people are making them come true not god or christ. Jesus says that the rapture will not happen until the jews returned to their homeland and the jews read this prophesy and made it their life goal to return and fulfill the prophecy. God didn't make the jews return jews made sure that jews returned. Also it says that before the rapture Israel desserts will become full of agriculture and water will fill the deserts. Sure this has come true but it became true because the jews made it come true not because god made it come true. The jews had to dig irrigation ditches to bring water to the desert and they had to plant the seeds that the plants came from. Also it says the jesus will not return to this world until the Temple of Soloman is rebuilt by the jews and it just so happens that the jews main goal is to build this temple and they have the plans and teachings all worked out. The prophecies of the bible are coming true because the jewish people are making sure they come true not because jesus or god says it will come true. The jewish people will do anything to bring the prophecies of the bible to come to life and its happening because they made it happen not god or jesus.
