I also go to a public high school. I had offers from some private schools and my parents pressured me to go to one of them but I wanted to stay here with my friends.

I went to a public school. Personally, I believe that private schools are overrated. You have to pay for them and there are no regulations or guidelines that they need to follow. Heck, they can just grab some guy off the street and make him a teacher. Public is the way to go.

NotJon : Well, technically they have better education standards and don't suffer as many budget problems as public schools. Plus, the whole "only rich kids go to private school" is really just a big stereotype made by unknowing parents. What do you mean by having to pay? You still have to pay going to public school by paying taxes. Besides, in states with huge debt like Illinois, public schools' budgets are constantly getting reduced. For example, the school I currently go to doesn't even support an algebra class for my grade, while the one I'm going to go to soon has pre algebra, algebra 1, and algebra 2 along with a bunch of optional things like a TV studio where kids get to do announcements at the beginning of the day, wonderful architecture, etc. In my current school, we'd never get that! Sadly, many unknowing people are brainwashed about private schools, being told it's only for rich, snooty kids or it's extremely expensive, which supports my idea that private school is indeed underrated. I do understand your opinion on the matter, though.

Mattishere5555 : I'm from New Jersey. If there's one thing that we can take pride in, it's our educational system (before Christie ruins it). Bergen County has some of the best schools in the country and most of them are public. Also, I've seen many rankings lately and almost all of the top schools are public. But you are right, many public schools can suffer from budget cuts.

My high school was a public school, however, you needed to apply and get accepted. I did and it was a very good school. It's among the ten percent best schools in the state, maybe top five percent. I don't even think we had a pre-algebra class, we all just started with algebra. Recently, they got rid of all of the college prep classes. Now honors classes are the standard with advanced placement an option.

Also, I apologize for my previous post. I had Catholic schools on my mind. Those really have no regulations and cost a lot of money.

I did go to a private school for one year..in the 8th grade. I didn't like it....students weren't able to wear regular clothing. We had to we blue button up shirts and black khaki pants...it looked as though we worked at Mcdonalds. After the eight grade I went back to public school.

I went to a Military boarding school for my 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years. Some parts of it I enjoyed, like the smaller classes, getting to goof off at Fort Jackson, and some of the people I got to know and still talk to. There were many drawbacks of course and I missed out on things like Prom, parties, girls, and my friends at home(most of whom I don't keep up with or can't find even though I was closer with them than my military school friends before hand). I'd have to say that overall it was an experience like any other's and is only what you make of it in the end. Had I stayed at public school I don't think too much would be different. I would just have different FB friends.

I have gone to a Catholic school, for nine years, and I'm going to a private high school next fall. Getting used to uniforms sucks, but it really is like any other school. We're not rich and snotty like stereotypes portray.

I go to a private school since year 8 and I'm now in year 12. There are good and bad things about private school but there are also pros and cons to any schools. I'm actually very grateful my parents sent me to a private school. We have longer holidays (we do have longer hours of school though). The people in private school are more respectful of the teachers and never become violent. Someone said something about not liking uniform... I think that uniforms are a good thing as I don't have to wake up at 6, and choose a different type of outfit each day, always knowing I will be judged by everyone at school. The education is also of very high standard. We have an OP system that rely on the whole school doing really well in QCS and since people who go to private school usually care a lot about their education, they would pull up the marks of students who don't really care about school. On top of that, the state school in the place i live isn't that good because there are always kids who disrupt the class constantly and I see them wagging in shops and at the cinemas all the time.

(I'm saying the state school kids from where I live so anyone who goes to state school, I'm not insulting you guys. You all seem very nice and smart)

No, I've never been to a private school before and I don't know what it is like. To me I've always thought private school is a place where the student haves a class all to their selves with no distractions of other students. I could be wrong. That's because I know nothing about it. Lol
