I don't have any children, so the only time I get to spend with little chlildren are when I visit friends and family, I recently held my girlfriends new born, she was so small and yawning all the time, I felt honoured to hold the baby, but was also relievedto be able to hand the baby back, I felt guilty at doing this, realising that for the mum and dad they would have to look after the baby 24/7 and for many years (and more!) to come.

I felt flushed with emotions, for my children yet to be born, for their child and how they had waited 10 years for this child who eventually decided to come, they never gave up hope and neither did we as a community for them.

I am not sure how I would feel about having chilren now, I would love to have a family but am also aware of the huge responsibility that having one entails and I see too many undertaking the responsibility too lightly indeed, so should I do the same? I guess it is an easy choice for me, if I wanted a child I could have one wiht my partner, he is reat about things and in no rush and neither am I, but then again you (I) never know what is around the corner and we at vizzed could be celebrating another new born.

I remember when my little sister was born. I was like 10, and I got to hold her... it was really cool.

I think I've only held one baby, my friend's new baby sister. She was cute. I'd like at least one child someday and/or adopt at least one.

I felt nervous the few times I have had the honor. Worried that I might drop them or that they might cry... just general reactions for a person with no experience holding children.

Well, I hold babies many times in my life, because I have 5 nephews and 1 niece. But I didn't feel anything special.
I was just glad, that I wasn't the one, who had to stay awake all night to take care of them, lol

Basically the same feelings as Elara... When I hold a baby I feel nervous because it feels like a responsibility, even if it's just for a few moments...

Seeing my little sisters and little cousins come home from the hospital and babysitting were neat and all, but I still don't feel the need to have children. It doesn't interest me. The idea of being responsible for someone else's life and having to raise them is annoying. That's not how I want to spend my life.

I was freaking out because I did not even know what to do with a baby in my arms. I stood there as if I was a statue.

As it was previously stated, I feel worried, and nervous because this is someone else's baby and I do not want to drop it. I find then to be entertaining at times, I find that I smile more when looking at them.

yeah i agree with mike im scared of dropping it but it also feels wierd that your holding an actual living breathing thing with a state of the art brain that will grow up to become the same age and older than you, i always find it hard to accept that babies grow into actual fully grown adults when my sister grew up i never really payed attention to how much she grew more just messing about but when you see your cousins baby when shes 1 years old and then again when shes 3 then 6 you realise how fast and how much they grow its pretty cool if you think about it i know babies grow but when you see one you basically think theyll tay like that forever. I think its because they have nothing in common with a fully grown adult they look alien compared to them but in a good cute way

When holding other babies, I get a really nice feeling when they're just there, kinda looking around like babies do, and sometimes smiling. It's kinda awkward when they start squirming around and crying, but I guess that's just part of the learning process.
