There are so many things that people say cures a hangover so how do you know which ones will really work? Trial and error I guess!

The only thing I wouldn't try is waking up with a hangover and then drinking again to cure the hangover, that makes absolutely no sense to me.

Since I'm hungover today I want to hear your craziest party stories, hangover cures...etc. I feel like crap and it's really cold out so I won't be leaving the house today. So please entertain me with your funny party stories.

When I used to wake up with a hangover, I would either drink more alcohol, or eat something greasy. Those would usually dull down the "ugh" feeling. Eventually, I wanted to not get hungover at all, but still drink. One day, I discovered that drinking water before you go to sleep helps. The catch is, it has to be A LOT of water. Something like 6 ounces of water for every alcoholic beverage or two that you consume. In the end, you will feel bloated, and will have to pee every 92 seconds, but I guarantee you will wake up the next day with no hangover whatsoever.

I don't drink.

I use to drink to the point I vomit and can't remember a thing in the morning. When this happens, eating bread is a good thing to do. I don't know why but it helps a lot.

The best cure for a hangover is to A not drink at all..or B don't drink to that point you feel sick.

To keep on drinking haha but that is pointless because you have to sober up once anyway.
Some pills and lots of water and a cold shower will do.

Basically water is the best thing for a hangover. Reason being is you're dehydrated. That usually what causes the headaches. Bread or crackers might also cure a hangover if you eat some before you sleep. I have had my share of crazy drinking stories, along with those nasty hangovers. Nothing to be proud of.

Yes its best to have water as alcohol dehydrates, but you also need something to replace electolytes. So that can be a spoonful of sugar into the water, or a spoonful of honey. Thats basically what the greasy food does, but if you have a very fussy stomach after a night on the piss, then i'd suggest the sugar/honey as it is gentler on the tummy.
And with this technique i was only hungover once (the first time i got drunk and didn't use this).

"Dr. Michael Oshinksy found another solution while conducting research on headaches. The revelation came when he was working with rats...
Oshinksy found that the best remedy for a headache is a combination of caffeine and anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen or aspirin.
“If a person uses alcohol in a significant amount and they expect to get a headache, they should take that a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug soon after finishing drinking, and they should definitely have a coke or a coffee the next morning,” said Oshinsky."
Even though anti inflammatories are sold over the counter, they can still present side effects. It’s important to follow the directions on the package carefully.

If u havent already heard, Drinking lots of water, and mabye some Gatorade, Vitamin Water (one with B vitamins too) is important to drink before dosing off. You will rehydrate. Its also good to get some bread or other starchy food in your stomach for alcohol absorption. But a lot of that water will definitely help for morning. Also dont take pill, until after the morning after for the headache.

To avoid them you should "hangover" the sink and dump all the liquor down the drain

I honestly do not get why drunks complain about hangovers, they drink to get messed up in first place. Why complain about side effects when the whole purpose is to get trashed?

I'm one of the lucky people who DON'T actually get hangovers. I've only ever had one but I don't usually do anything special. Although if I happen to get drunk, my body naturally wakes me up at sunrise with an incredible thirst for the coldest water possible. So I'll get up, get a cup of ice ICE cold water, drink it, then go back to bed. Then I wake up a few hours later completely refreshed

The trick is in the preperation the night before. I stumble home drunk as all get out, I do three things:

1. Take Motrin. I have a huge bottle due to me being an alcoholic. I take 2-3 Motrin imediately.

2. Drink a lot of water before you pass out. Is there a threat of peeing the bed? Yes, but it doesn't happen to me. Drink a ton of water while you wait for...

3. The nachos to come out of the oven. I eat food before I pass out, too. Anything greasy, fatty, cheesy, or meaty, to absorb the alcohol, coat my stomach, and fill me up.

Once I've done this, I go pass out for a while. When I wake up I quickly eat some toast, drink a ton of water, take Motrin, and.... surprisingly... go to the gym.

Go take a walk, exercise, lift weights, get your body moving. The increased circulation will pump blood to your head and help hydrate you and you'll feel better. It seems painful and it is but it's the fastest way out of a hangover.

Good luck!

Best cure for a hangover - Not getting drunk.

Aside from that though, I've heard some people like using the hair of the dog tactic, and drink during the hangover. Though it generally raises your tolerance as well and makes it harder to get a buzz.

Another method that I find works relatively well is leaning sideways while you sleep. It's not a cure all, but I find that it helps a little.

ReZa : yes, true.

Right now, in one, I don't think there is a cure, though.

About the above one - it works but can't just do it every time

Water, water, water. Seriously. The BEST cure? Drink a glass of water every two or three drinks. But if nothing else, at least drink two glasses of water before going to bed. The more the better. I've been doing this since I started drinking, and I've NEVER had a hangover. The closest I've ever had was one night where I got in a macho man contest and got my ass kicked. I woke up sore as s*** the next day, but it had nothing to do with how drunk I was the night prior. Well... Maybe a little bit.

Oddly, despite getting extremely drunk before, I've never had a hangover.
I'm not envious of those that get them, though.

Then again, I always enjoy a variety of drinks when drinking. A shot here, some water, a cooler there, then some apple juice.... I mix it up. I guess it's worked?

warmaker : I like this man's cure, though.

A lot of these things that other users have said are more things that you do the night before WHILE you are drinking. But those are things to prevent hangovers. I assume when you say 'cure', you mean something to get rid of a hangover when you already have one. In that case, there really isn't much you can do. A lot of people will say eat greasy foods to absorb alcohol or drink water to dilute it. It doesn't work that way. Greasy food doesn't find it's way through your bloodstream to absorb alcohol. Even if you try to dilute it with water, it doesn't change the amount of alcohol in your bloodstream after you are at the hangover point. A big part of what causes the feeling of hangovers is how alcohol affects your Reticular Formation (part of your brain that is involved in your sleep cycles). Alcohol causes your RF to be unable to enter a stead REM cycle of sleep. That is why you can sleep for 12 hours after passing out and wake up feeling like you haven't slept at all. Your brain never entered real resting cycle of sleep. You pretty much just have to let your kidneys do their job and filter the remaining alcohol out of your blood and have you pee the rest of it out. Drinking a lot of water won't really speed up that process because it just gives your kidneys more fluid to filter through.

The best cure is not drinking.

But failing that you should probably not do anything the day after. Just relax.

I haven't had enough to get that much of a hangover, this if for the reason that I have never really been drunk.

I think that it's the best way to not a hangover, don't even get started. I would rather not have my money being sucked down into the drain and being dependent on this drug for life.

Very interesting to see some responses to this but what works for me......Gatorade/powerade as somebody mentioned above the electrolytes are the key to feeling better.......the body digests Gatorade faster than water.......be careful if your taking Advil or anything with acteometiphen (spelled wrong I know)  it can cause damage to your liver......basically kicking your liver while it's trying to recoup.  Also...if at all possible chug a lot of water before you go to sleep and eat lightly that should help quite a bit.......Summer is approaching and those hangovers are the worst wow........hope that helps....

Some things that work really well for me over the years:

Take some Ibuprofen before you even start drinking. This will help abate any headache you might have gotten later (although doesn't help if you get sick and lose it all before it can do any good)

Drink a ton of water....one of the main reasons someone is "Hung over" is because their body is dehydrated. Gatorade/Poweraid works too
