So there's a thread about Football, why not one about Basketball? I play Basketball, Junior Varsity for my school.

Well yes, and no. I played for the school last year, but I got out because of my coach, and I sucked. Every day in P.E. I do something Basketball related, at least.

Had to play it in school. I actually liked basketball, but I never know the rules so people didn't want to play with me much haha. When younger we used to play different kinds of basketball related games, but not anymore.

I've played a few times with some friends for fun, but I don't like it much. I prefer soccer and handball more.

Not anymore...I did in my school years. Gym class was so much fun! I'd prefer baseball or volleyball over basketball any day

Sometimes I play basketball. When I'm in practice, I'm actually fairly decent, but I haven't played in a while. I can pass better than anyone I've ever met, but for some reason I can't make a shot.

Yeah, I played two years of JV for the school, but since my school's varsity coach sucks and I probably wouldn't get much playing time, I decided to play church league with my friends this year.

Meh. I'm not really into basketball, nor do I hate it. There's no good place to play with my friends that's easy to get to, and in gym class I have to play against turds who do every jock sport and say track is for homos...

I play every sport I can get my hands on. I used to go to Kalihi and go play basketball with guys down there. It was pick-up against strangers and we played a lot of 3 on 3. Luckily, I'm well-conditioned, so I just ran around until I tired out the other guy guarding me. Then it was easy slashing moves and lay-ups.

Nope. I used to, but I was just way too slow. I felt like I was a sloth in the middle of a bunch of cheetahs- and a really dumb sloth, at that. I never had any idea what was going on until a minute afterwards. So i quit, and didn't try again. However, I'm really good at shooting, so I still play knock-out all the time with my friends.

I do not, not even for fun. Maybe for a videogame, but never have before. I'm not too competitive or athletic overall. I will play exclusively with friends though.

I used to, but I never bothered playing for the school, because I was not well liked. It's one thing to be skilled (I have the talent of a Varsity player), but it's another to get the ball. As it was, it was clear the only way I would get the ball is by rebounding it myself (I'm a 6 foot 1 point guard), the only reason why I did so well in pickup games is because I was able to rebound everyone's shots, clear it, and then drive it in myself.

I don't play high school basketball, but occasional during gym class all the kids gather around to play a pickup game, and I play then. I did get a basketball hoop at my house, and sometimes I go outside and shoot around for a little while.

I love to play basketball with my friends, but I was much to heavy to play varsity basketball. I can usually hit a good percentage of my 3-pointers, and I am 6'2", so I am a bit taller than most of my friends as well, making it really easy to drive to the basket and make an easy jump shot. During Gym, I was usually the guy standing under the basket waiting for the cherry-pick, as I could catch it over just about anybodies head. I, like leggy, was not extremely well liked in school though, so sometimes I would have to rebound the ball for myself and then just take it down the court and shoot a 3 pointer. Even though I would make about half of my 3-pointers, people for some reason where always in shock...probably because I weighed about 300 pounds...I just don't look like a 3 point shooter .

I've been playing Basketball since I was almost four. I trained until middle school, and played a team there, as defense. In highschool, I got accepted into a AAA team and my team won the junior championships, then I quit basketball because I had to focus on my studies.

I used to play basketball for Upward but I quit. I do occasionally play Basketball with my brother and friends.

I don't play Basketball on a daily basis, however if i could i would go up as often as i can, as i do enjoy shooting the basketball around.

I hadn't played basketball for a year! Last time I played basketball was in college! I one time tried out for basketball in grade 6, but I didn't make the team & I was upset, but that's okay now because being in a basketball team is not really that important to me!

Love the sport and I play for fun (like my username ). It was great to play it this past weekend with my friends at church. 

Yeah, I get out there and play some basketball whenever the chance present itself. I'm a big guy, but I like to get out there and have fun, but the only problem is that every time my brother and I and a few other friends get out there and play. We always have that one sore loser to ruin the fun and game.

Yeah, since I was four! Unforuantely, I don't play in a team right now, but I used to play basketball for my school's team. I was called the defender, because I always never failed to steal a ball away from an opponent. 

I actually never played for any team, but many people say that I should since I am one of the taller guys in my class.

I sort of played on a basketball team back in fourth grade. I say 'sort of' because it was just during recess everyday, though we did technically have formed teams. >.> And those teams never changed the entire year... I got pretty good at it, too. Haha.

Anyway, I still play it for fun sometimes. I suck at it now (except for shooting; I'm pretty good at that), but I still play it with my friends once in awhile, haha. 

I never played for a team but, basketball is probably my favorite sport to watch and play.  I never really had the opportunity to play any school sports or I would've took up the opportunity.

I'm not absolutely amazing but, whenever I do play pick up games and such, I'm normally close to being the best on the court if not the best.

Well I usually play basketball with my cousin and his friends but I can honestly say that I'm not as good as I was when I was a teenager, I am better at football than I am at basketball.

I play Varsity for my school. 6,3 and starting Small forward/ Power Forward. I know we got a small team is why. We got regionals this weekend so we gotta win it! It's my last year so last chance for me.

I honestly believe that there are not very many people who are as horrible at basketball than I am. That is just it. I suck at it. I can't make a shot that isn't luck for crap.

I actually love playing basketball for exercise. It's actually my main way of getting a cardio workout.

I use to. Back when I did earlier this year, I underestimated the game so much, that I quit. I instead became a Status guy or "Statusition" for the team. It was pretty cool going to free games lol

I might play with my friends, or recreational,  every now and then, but I do not play on any team. I am not good enough to play on any team, honestly. I am more of a rebounder and defensive player than any thing else.

Yeah, I play. Usually for minor teams though to help boost my skills. Because I"m towards the end of the 8th grade, there wasn't really all that time for me to practice and what not. I was kinda disappointed now that I know how far behind my skill level is in comparison to others. I'll hopefully make my JV team when I get into high school.

Yeah I actually think basketball is pretty cool. I play with my neighbors and brothers all the time just as a hobby and because he has a basketball hoop and I did a March Madness season this year at my school so yeah I like basketball.

I used to!  In the 2nd grade, I was a pretty bad player though.  Our team basically lost every game.  I also quit basketball because I was always afraid the ball would hit my head.  Nowadays I shoot hoops with my brother though to let out some stress.  It's a good stress reliever.

I play basketball , I even have here my 5 reasons why :
1. Very Cheap.
- Basketball is very much affordable. Although you need a ball and a basketball court with a rim. The ball does not cost that much, unless you would want to buy the very expensive ones as used by the pros. You can have different options when it comes to the prices. On the other hand, finding a basketball court is not a problem either. There are lots of schools and communities who open their gates for individuals who want to play the game. When it comes to sports gear, you do not need to buy expensive shoes or clothing. Just start to play the game with the things you already use. Some people actually play the game with bare foot or slippers. However, shoes are advisable for players to use to avoid any injuries. Feet play an essential role in playing the game.
2. Readily Accessible 
- Like I have said, you can play basketball anywhere. If you are unable to use the basketball courts in both public and private schools, there are a lot more social communities who provide them. Some local governments try to establish public sports arenas for everyone to enjoy. If you want to play, all you need to do is to go to the nearest basketball court available in your community or your local basketball club.
3. Can Be Played Along Side Many Individuals
- This is the most exciting part. Basketball enables you to play with 5 or more friends all at the same time. Many other sports can be played only by two or four individuals. In this case you go tired and bored in waiting for your turn. In basketball, you can have great chances of playing all the time.
4. Easy To Learn Fundamentals
- As long as you know how to dribble and shoot , you can play the basic parts of basketball .
5. Easy / Simple Rules 
- Recreational “at the park” Basketball has simple rules. In most cases it is limited to the basic dribbling rules and avoiding any form of hard body contact when a player is in the act of shooting. These rules are very simple and easy to understand and this is what makes the sport so cool to play with your friends on warm evenings. It’s so much fun.

I play basketball all the time and I'm getting myself ready for tryout my school is having in Orlando. Since I moved hear about  a month ago and been playing ball in recreation centers I been having good showing all the time so when the tryout comes around I will make it.

I do play basketball but I'm not that good...well compared to before my first foot surgery. My specialty is three pointers, but I'm not that tall so I'm more of a passer now...well before I got my second foot surgery.

Used to play my first two years of high school. Then, Calculus BC happened.  Now that I'm older, I'm trying to get back in the basketball groove sometime this summer, but then Pokémon Emerald happened.  

I do play it, free-shotting and stuff.
But I am by NO MEANS good at it.

I would say that I am pretty good at it. I play for my high school jv team as a freshman. I am 6'1" with shoes on, so that gives me the height advantage over most kids. I don't always score all of the points, I usually like to get more assists than points because I think you get looked at by scouts more. I really enjoy playing basketball. Every chance I get I am outside shooting hoops. Basketball is my life and it will stay that way till I die.

I used to play basket ball in my neighborhood and for my school two years ago, but I lost interest and got hooked on Hockey.

I used to play basketball, and I still quite like it. I still quit though, mainly because it's so easy to get sent off of the field. So much as tapping someone on accident can cause you a warning. I'm not saying basketball should turn into rugby, but a little flexibility in the rules couldn't hurt, IMO. Basketball is a fast-paced sport, you should be allowed to tap each other aside at least a little. It shouldn't become ice hockey though.

Played basketball for my high school and also played on a travel team that goes to play in Las Vegas during the summer but prefer American football more.

I love basketball and I used to play in high school here in the UK but haven't in about 2 years because my stupid college only let students who studied P.E join the team. I was captain of my High School team for my final 2 years , after being on the team for 5 of my 6 years at high school. We played in loads of local tournaments and always finished 1st or 2nd.

I don't play competitive basketball. I like shooting hoops for fun though.
