Actually, this is my favorite of the series. Sure, it's lame by the factor of no bosses except Vampira (and Dracula), not to mention Dracula is defeated in 15 seconds or less provided you have the flame-whip and/or gold dagger :p. But overall, this was actually the 2nd Castlevania game I played (when it was originally released) so it has a nostalgic factor.

I think it's pretty good, a lot better than the first one in my opinion. Still, I prefer Symphony of The Night for Castlevania games, but this one is pretty good too.

I actually prefer all the later Castlevania games, as soon as they started having level ups and RPG elements. It gives me more incentive to grind through the hard parts over and over and I love getting new equips.

Personally I liked the game. I did not like how some of it was really cryptic but other than that I think it was ok. I played it in a generation where all of the info is ready for you so I was totally fine. I thought it was fun, different, but fun.

I've tried playing a ROM of it a couple times, but it drove me crazy. I love the concept of it, but it frustrated me. I found a fan-made, almost a remake, of it for the PC, and I really enjoy that one (except that it still has the message pop up as it transitions between day and night).

Honestly I think it's pretty cool that they tried to do something different and make it more like an action/rpg game. I didn't mind the hard to find secrets or passages you needed to continue on in the game (You were used to that if you grew up with Nintendo, that was part of the challenge)

The thing that sucked about this game was that stupid box that continues to pop up for the day/night transitions. It gets a little old.

Although I don't like it as much as Castlevania 1, and 3 I still think it's a decent game.
