I'd like to have 1 new poll each month, or maybe even each week depending on how many good ones we can come up with. Preferably questions that apply to how a remake should/would look (to get viewers excited about the idea and start imagining it), but other random stuff too. Please feel free to contribute.

1) How do you pronounce "Lavos"?
LAH-vohs
LAH-vuss
lay-VOHS
(Other pronunciations? Feel free to edit my post to add more choices here.)

2) Which of these NPCs would you like to see a more expanded backstory on? (By this we mean their origins or how they got into the position they're in, etc.)
Queen Zeal
Princess Schala
Azala
Doan
Fritz
Cyrus
Ozzie/Slash/Flea
The 3 Gurus (Melchior, Gaspar, Belthasar)

3) Which of these NPCs would you like to see added to the playable cast, even if only as an easter-egg?
Princess Schala
Gaspar
Johnny
Atropos XR
None

4) What else?

I'll try to come up with some poll ideas, but if we're going to try to do a "continuous poll" thing you're talking about, we might want to change it every week. That way the fans will be more likely to check back more often and stay involved. I suppose if you guys think that wouldn't give fans enough time to answer, we could stagger it, i.e. add a new poll each week that'll last two weeks, so halfway through each poll we would add a new one. Or, I suppose we could also just change it every two weeks but only have one going at a time.

I don't think we can make THAT many choices in the polls, so leaving someone out really isn't a valid concern.

4. Graphics System -- this question worries me just a bit, as it could give rise to some of the "we don't wanna change anything" group. While the original will always be great, there's nothing wrong with making something new. These people don't seem to get that. Also these options leave it a little too open to become like a platform game (same with question 5), which also might scare some people. Anyway, I don't know what to do with this, but that is a concern that came to mind. (I vote for 3D by the way.)

5. Perspective -- Maybe we should cite a different example game for the bird's-eye view. Most RPGs are in the bird's-eye view, but Zelda: LttP isn't the first game you think of when you think of an RPG. Maybe cite the original here though. (And I vote for behind-the-back. CT Resurrection would have been behind-the-back, I believe. This also allows you to see the horizon, a thing of beauty in itself if done well.) Also we might add another option for "various set camera angles" or something like that, ala FFX. (Sometimes FFX is bird's-eye view, other times closer to the character.)

6. Secret bosses -- This is cool, especially Alfador! My vote goes to the clones though. (When I passed them in the Black Omen, I expected them to bust out of those tubes at any moment! LOL...)

7. Deleted Scenes -- Did the Colosseum really exist? I thought it was a totally original piece that the Compendium is working on. Course, I guess the world-map graphic for it had to come from somewhere, eh? Anyway, my vote goes to explorable 1999. Somebody once suggested to have a new PC who comes from there too. Could add an interesting depth.

8. NPCs -> Secret PCs -- Didn't I already ask this? Anyway, Alfador as a playable character would be HILARIOUS. But my vote goes to Schala and Gaspar... Schala just had the "feel" of someone who would join your party, she just never did. And of course we know there seemed to be plans originally to stick Gaspar in there.

9. Bosses -> Secret PCs -- This may be too close to the original question, but eh, who cares. I can kinda see Queen Zeal doing this, as Gaspar mentions after you defeat her that she has "reverted back to a human, normal woman" or something like that. Like she's regained her sanity, you know. I can see her joining the fight, LOL...

What is the limit on the number of choices a poll can have?

Jake, I don't care if you disagree with the people who liked the original graphics system/perspective or whatever. They have a right to vote for what they want, not the possible choices that you want. Besides, if they explain why they want that graphics/perspective system, we can explain why we think a 3-D remake would be better, and perhaps change their minds about it.

Yes, the Colosseum was actually a sprite in the Prerelease of the game. It was given the name "Robot Village" by the Compendium (since it didn't have an "official" name) and was later used for the Chrono Trigger Coloseum project.

Jake, about your first question... I think they tell you how to pronounce the word in one of the games, either the CT or Chrono Cross. Can't remember which.

Hmm, I haven't found it if so. And if so, it's probably in Cross, 'cuz I've read every letter of text in Trigger.

Here's an obvious poll idea we probably should've thought of before.

11) Which aspect of the original Chrono Trigger game would you most want to see improved in a Remake?
Graphics
Music / Sound Effects
Story
Physics
Characters
Locations
Battle System
Control System
Side-Quests
Secrets

Alright, I'll see if I can find it in Cross. Might take a little bit of time.

You know, that isn't a bad idea. S-E will definitely be giving us some attention if we publicly announce that we are doing this, hence they would probably take a look at the site and also the forums that the site interacts with. As such, it is very possible that they might see the polls. When we gather enough signatures and send our petition over to S-E; they may use our polls as a guideline... should they follow through with our request, of course.

Anyway... this is interesting. I'll be thinking up some for the future.

Cool, cool... Although I think honestly that PS2, GameCube and XboX are too close to the end of their lifespans to be considered. (I mean, we're talking about time for the petition to be run, time for Square to make its move, then time to develop and release the game.) But hey, what the heck.

Apoc, I actually didn't think about what you had mentioned. Cool idea though. Maybe we CAN influence it in that way!

I betcha PS3 would get the most votes, just because it has purty graphics. And XBox 360 would also be popular becasue it is just now being released. But just imagine what stuff you could do with the Revolution's controller inside the Remake. Wave it around to slash with Crono's and Frog's swords, perform all those complex arm movements Magus does in order to cast his spells, thrust it forward to make Ayla and Robo punch, aim and shoot with Marle's crossbow and Lucca's gun...

And I also like to think about the possibilities offered with the DS's touch screen/microphone combo.

OK, I'm totally uneducated on the Revolution's controller. Guess I'd better go look it up.

I concur. The Rev is going to be a totally different expierence.

The bonus playable characters/ story probably wouldn't go over very well with many fans.

I would personally like all three systems; or at least PS3 and the Revolution to have the remake. If I had to choose just one though; I would have to go with the Revolution on this one. Chrono Trigger was, in a way, a "Revolution" in the RPG genre. It wasn't the stereotypical storyline, and the characters were far more dynamic than in prior games as well. Then you have to consider the interactive enviroments in CT. The hidden switches that revealed secret paths, and the hidden items scattered practically everywhere. Keeping this is mind, it would make more sense for a system that is "Revolutionary" itself, and based on such interaction to have such a game.

Like was previously mentioned... imagine a battle system; that while was based off of the original CT battle system, increased the effectiveness of the attack the better you emulated it. For example; lets say Crono went to do his standard attack. To increase the efficiency of the attack, you would make a slicing motion with the Revolution controller. If you were using Magus, you would emulate the complex hand motions. In the actual enviroment of the game, you would be walking along a dungeon and find a blue sparkle in the distance. You would then run up to it, and actually point at it and pick it up. You just found a magic tab.

...Doesn't that sound more exciting than the standard method of play? The CT world was very interactive, and I believe the Revolution controller would suit those needs... and allow further emphasis on it in a remake.

Very interesting... After looking it up, in my opinion, Revolution and its controller would be best with big-screen TVs, hehe... And it seems like there's a 3D "box" in front of you where it can sense movements, etc... But if the controller moves outside that "box," you could be facing problems. All I'm saying there is that a sword slash is a big motion, and might be difficult for the controller to track. Oh well, who knows... But WOW, I sure can't wait to see how this goes!

And yes, I think Square is just as intrigued in Revolution as we are by this...and if they DO look at our polls, they might get some ideas from what we're saying here. Very awesome indeed.

They've already had demonstrations showing the controller works very well for sword simulations.
