I do not even listen to the majority of secular artists, but with what little I have come in contact with has absolutely messages. I mean, I feel that rap does not require much skill to pull off, but to get a good message in the song matters most. That is why I am glad we have Lecrae.

I have gotten to the point where I don't listen to rap a lot like I used to.

I like old school rap (well... i guess that's more like hip hop) but I don't like the rap that talks about gang bangin, being angry all the time, sex, money, violence,...sex, etc etc. Rap nowadays condones this thug life, gangsta crap. I really don't see bad attitudes, killing, the use of the word "nigga" (I can make a whole post about that, but I wont), fighting over petty mess, drug dealing, and whatever else I see on the street as "cool". It just seems stupid to me- don't even get me started on saggin...   

I'm not gonna lie, I like the beats in rap music; however, the messages in a lot of the songs is what cause me to leave it alone... (and yeah, I know that other genres of music can be like that too- I treat them the same way). Some rap songs can be poetic and have a good message, but those kinds of rap songs don't make it on the radio. 

okay, i like some rap now. ha, but nothing like lil wayne, or whatever. all those guys are terrible. the only good rap that i've hear is pretty much any of the old school stuff(including the hip hop) and foreign beggars, those guys can really hit it...

I listen to rap music, but only ones by Epic Rap Battle. I mean, I like other rap music, but these ones are the best. They make different raps every time. I'm subscribed to them on Youtube and they make the best rap battles ever.

I have to agree a lot of rap now a days is horrible but it is also main stream rap there is also underground rap like I.C.P which even though there songs are dark there are secret meaning behind them that help people get through there life and you can't forget that some bands that are famous are known for there raps Like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Stuck Mojo, Papa Roach, and Beastie Boys started out as a rock rap band and a lot of famous bands now a days have a little influence of rap when making there lyrics it may not show completely but there is small amount of rap influence. Though i personally don't listen to a lot of mainstream rap, but i do listen to it i listen to other things to such as Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Three Days Grace, Shinedown,  Nickelback, Green Day, Meatloaf, Guns N' Roses, Blue Oyster Cult, and many others but i can still sit down and listen because even if i don't like the music some one in my life might so i listen and grow a taste to where it wont be as bad so that is full fledged opinion.  

All of you who diss rap are right but to put everyone in the same little group is messed up. I don't listen to much rap cause it is garbage how hard is it to rap about smoking and drinking. But "Hopsin" Is a epic rapper he is here to make a change if you don't believe me then check out his song "The ill mind of hopsin 5". He raps about the stupid rappers who are exposing us to this stupid lifestyle of people who can not think for them self. That make us think that rap music is all about the partying and shooting like it is glamorous. JUST LISTEN AND I BET YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND.

I can't stand rap. I can tolerate Eminem but that's about it. Rap is definitely one of the worst genres of music ever created.

It is poetry recited on a beat (In actual fact rap stands for 'Rhythm and Poetry')

I can stand it, but it is not something I prefer listening to.

I think it is trashy and abunch of crap, its just a guy singing swear words and saying horrible words >.> why would anyone get payed to do that?

I dislike a lot of rap but the recent 2 years my friends have been showing me a lot of underground/not mainstream rap and there are some great rappers out there like R.A.The Rugged Man, Ces Cru, The Joker, and Hopsin.

I can understand why I see a lot of you hate rap but trust me not all of it is the mainstream/pop rap you hear on the radio..i hate that stuff too because it takes away the essence of the hip hop genre and in my opinion, ruins it. But if you dig deeper, past the b.s you will find good, meaningful hip hop from talented artists, believe me I am a hip hop producer and work with plenty talented rappers..and if you can discover the underground of the rap grame you will find these artists...

also, to get a feel of ACTUAL rap and hip hop just listen to some of the greats...the 90s were the golden age of hip hop. and really, who cares if they swear they're just words so if an artist swears don't hate the entire genre hes apart of...
