Wrestlers I like:

The Undertaker
Kane
Randy Orton
Drew McIntyre
Sheamus O'Shawnasy
Rey Mysterio
The Big Show
The Great Khali
Kelly Kelly (just cuz she's cute and she's not a bit**)
Beth Phoenix
HHH
John Morrison
And a few others I can't think of at the moment

Wrestlers I hate:
John Cena (Hey Cena! We CAN see you!)
Roberto Del Rio
The Miz
Cody Rhodes
CM Punk
Laycool
That's all I can think of right now, but there are more.

Yeah, WWE may be fake but that's why it's called World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT. It's meant to entertain us, and it does its job pretty well I'd say.

bvd1022 - Yeah I've kept up with WWE since the late 80's. I was born in 81, and have watched it since I was a child. I agree, they had cheaper PPV's back then. And spaced them out more. But you know how things get, people are our for money. It's a sad but true factor.

I've never watched TNA. I know Jeff Hardy went there. But other than that, I don't watch it.

SunflowerGaming : You’re right to a degree… It has changed drastically from when I was growing up… Back then, pay-per-views were well better put together in terms of structure of the cards and event promotion and such. That’s why back in the day the WWF and WCW could get away with during three to five pay-per-views a year because A they were spaced out adequately. B the cards were well built and well promoted so it made you anticipate what would happen and such and C (My personal favorite) they were economically reasonable to buy.

I remember the days where the big pay-per-views the WWF does were at most $30. I remember back in the day Survivor Series and Summerslam were $24.95. I miss those days badly. Another thing I miss about that time is back then pay-per-views were not always on a Sunday. Survivor Series for instance was always a Thanksgiving night/Thanksgiving Eve event. Summerslam use to be on Mondays, usually when USA had to pre-empt Prime-Time Wrestling for the Westminster Dog Show or, US Open Tennis.

For those of you who aren’t old enough to remember Prime-Time was the WWF’s Monday night staple until Raw started in 1993. It was a good show that ran for two hours every Monday and basically showed matches from either syndicated programming or, matches taped at what are now known as house shows that weren’t shown anywhere else. In my opinion Prime-Time especially back in the 80s was a better wrestling program than Raw was for years. This was primarily due to Raw only going for one hour for years before being bumped to two hours.

The sad thing is because of the forced name change due to the World Wildlife Fund unless you know where to get unedited footage, young people who weren’t around have to deal with what the WWF puts out that is often times butchered when it comes to editing. They do, do a good job when it comes to documentaries though.

The amount of pay-per-view events per year are way out of hand especially given that we’re in a recession. They are way overpriced. For example, I order a good majority of them even though I haven’t covered wrestling in seven years, I’m still a fan. I am a DirecTV subscriber the regular Standard- Definition feed for most pay-per-views the WWF does is $44.95. I am use to paying for Boxing and MMA at the same price so that’s not so bad if I can afford it. To order a High-Definition feed it’s $54.95.

Wrestllemania for HD it’s typically around $65, $70. That is insane… Thus because of the insane prices and because my home is not fully HD yet I choose to go with the cheaper option. Either way they should lower the prices for the pay-per-views especially the non-major ones that really aren’t worth much except a mere distraction for the consumer.

I did not take to TNA for a couple of years but I slowly became interested overtime and it can be a decent product at times. The problem with TNA is that they don’t do their shows on the road for the most part and choose to do their shows from Universal Studios in Florida. It’s not bad for those who get to go to Universal because they get free admission to TNA events, even pay-per-views. The problem for TNA though is that although I am sure they have some sort of agreement with Universal, they don’t bring in the kind of revenue gates that they would probably if they were on the road fulltime. I am sure they do decent when it comes to merchandise sales (T-shirts, DVDS etc.). If ECW were still around as what it was, it would probably be considered a better product. The WWF’s version of it though really was watered down from what ECW was.

The other major problem with TNA is that they don’t seem to stick to one direction in terms of the product and seem at times intent on trying to pick up from where WCW had left off. The angles that they’ve done recently have similarities to WCW in a couple of ways. The most obvious being the Hogan-Bishoff angle.

I apologize if it seemed like I was rambling on a bit. As I said I covered wrestling for years so this is a topic I have expertise in when it comes to knowing how the business is run.

Yeah, you're right. I was a little kid when I started watching when it was WWF. So I don't remember what the prices were like back then. But I agree. It's too expensive. We only order the major PPV's because of the fact we can't afford them. So unfortunately, that's how it is with entertainment. They are more worried about the dollar than the entertainment itself.

SunflowerGaming : I will admit that I got a mild laugh out of what the WWF did a few weeks ago on their Monday night show with trying to appeal to the 80s crowd with a throwback version. I enjoyed it but again it wasn’t really true throwback because they had to edit their old graphics and such.

Although they violated an agreement with the World Wildlife Fund which subsequently lead to them losing the rights to use WWF, I wish for the sack of history and preserving unedited content that they would be able to come to some sort of compromise where they could use the letters.

Oddly there is nothing prohibiting them from using the name World Wrestling Federation so it really is a catch 22 without a compromise but Vince McMahon has a reputation of thinking he is the be all end all and likely thought because of the global popularity of his company and pro wrestling in general that he could get away with violating the agreement. Unfortunately for him and for wrestling historians popularity doesn’t override the law and that is what led to the over emphasis of editing that you see on old footage that they show today.

The good thing though is that if you know where to look you can probably get DVDs of unedited content somewhere.

I was at one point, obsessed with wrestling and the wrestler Kane "The Big Red Machine". I taped every show on VHS for awhile. After some time I stopped because out it's fake and I didn't give it a chance since then. Perhaps if Kane gets back on the scene with his red mask and red outfit, I'd start watching again.

Lol, yeah, I just got to that point today.

Still confuses me how Nexus broke off into two different groups. So now there's Nexus led by Punk, and Corre led by Barrett?

And Wrestlemania has Jerry Lawler vs Michael Cole?

Yeah, I've missed wayyyy too much >.>

I've only ever caught a few shows, but I like some wrestlers.
Ray Mysterio (He's just cool)
Kane (He was awesome when he had his mask)
John Cena (I don't really like when he talks, but he seems good nonetheless)
The Rock (of course, he is also just plain awesome)
Also, just for fun: Sgt. Slaughter! Because you can't spell slaughter without laughter. He's just so fun to watch

Sephitard9001 :

I like it when Cena talks, he may be "a big bowl of Fruity Pebbles" but he is interesting on the mic, definitely one of the best speakers in WWE history. Although I hate his movies. Other than 12 Rounds, I am throuughly unimpressed

Sephitard9001 :

I'm the opposite. I like it when he talks away from a match, his storylines are normally at least slightly interesting. Like when he rebelled against the Nexus and stuff, I thought that was awesome.

I have never really watched wrestling much, except for a little bit. The Rock is cool though. Maybe I watch when he's on.

I have to be honest, I love John Cena, and yeah I am sure you can guess why. Hey, I'm female, I can't help it. But I also like Randy Orton, The Rock and John Morrison.
