This is the best place to discuss the first time you played the original Sonic The Hedgehog game. It can be anywhere from the day it came out on the Sega Genesis, to the day it was included in Sonic Mega Collection, to the Wii's Virtual Console!

The only rule is...

Anything that involves cheat codes or instructions on how to perform something must use the original Genesis Controls.

For example:

To enter Level Select, press up, down, left, and right. You will hear a ring sound to confirm correct code entry. To access it, press and hold A then press Start.

That's it.

Anyway, to contribute to this post, my first time playing Sonic The Hedgehog was on a three game pak for the Sega Genesis at a daycare. That was amazing!

mike345 : That was great! I like how you detailed the levels you were stuck on, starting with Sonic the Hedgehog 1. I also like how you accurately chose the system with great care!

What I really liked about the Sonic Mega Collection on the Gamecube, was you could choose which version of Sonic 1 you wanted to play. In my US copy, the three versions you could choose from were the US version, Japanese version 1, which was the default version, and Japanese version 2, which I can only assume fixed the infamous spike glitch. That glitch was just generally annoying.

Wow....the first time I played Sonic...was when I got a Genesis from a friend I won on a bet. When I first grabbed the controller and tried to get a hang of it, I couldn't because he was moving so damn fast...lol.

But after a couple of days, I got control of the blue speed demon and you couldn't stop me from there.

The first time I played Sonic the Hedgehog was back when I had my first Sega Genesis. I grew up with Mario games but quickly became a Sonic fan as soon as I played it! Still a very awesome game 'till this day.

1st Time? I'm not a big Sonic fan. But I remember about 2 or 3yr ago I played it on the PS2 game Sega Mega collection plus. But I became a Nintendo fan not long after so I don't play it no more.

The first time I played Sonic the Hedgehog was when it first came out in 1991. I was so amazed at the colors, and the fluidity of Sonics speed. There was just nothing else like it out at the time. Probably one of the biggest "WoW" moments in my gaming lifetime.
