I drink a protein shake every day right after I am done lifting weights. I do this because I barely eat enough protein already to sustain the ideal amount if I weren't lifting weights, so I would get nothing out of weight lifting if I didn't drink the shakes.

I believe you should eat well enough to get the vast majority, if not ALL, your vitamins from your diet. If you are missing something from your diet, that's not a sign you should take a supplement- It means you're not eating correctly and you should change that. My skin & hair routine is my diet; my medicine is my food; my disease prevention is my food. However, just to be careful, I do take iron, B12, vitamin D (because I live in a cloudy place it's difficult to get enough sun), and I eat fortified foods (omega-3 breads, ground flaxseed, fortified nut milk, fortified orange juice).

Yep.  When I went to the doctor to get my blood tested as well as for a physical, when the tests came back, they showed that I was vitamin D deficient, so now my parents are having me take vitamin D supplements. They are very small, and easy to take, but meh, I used to have to take quite a few pills on a daily basis like an old person back when I was 9-12, so I am not fond of pills. Oh, and apparently, around 75-95% of Americans are vitamin D deficient. In other words, we need to get out more and drink more milk .

I don't remember having to take any type of nutritional supplement before. I mean, if Flinstone gummies count, then I guess so, but other than that, I would have to say no.

Uh, sort of. I take Tums every night right before bed both to combat heart burn and because I don't drink milk very often. But it's not really for my health so much as because I eat a lot of foods with tomato sauces and greasy stuff and I'm just generally not a healthy person.

I try to drink a lot of milk, eat veggies, bread, fruit and meat every day.

Try.... Milk and bread is usually the only one I for sure get.

I'm doing pretty good regardless, though.

I used to be big on multivitamins, but then I realized I wasn't feeling any better, and they were expensive.

For a few months, my mom tried to get us to take these vitamins that tasted and looked like gummy bears.

They worked for a bit, but we weren't motivated enough to take them daily.

Nutritional supplements are a poor substitute for eating properly. Why take fish oil supplements that have probably gone rancid anyway when you can eat fish? Why take multi-vitamins when you can get all that stuff eating organs? Why take protein supplements when you can eat eggs, or--hold onto your hats here--meat?

I used to take vitamins every so often, but at the end of the day I eat better than most people, so I'm not that worried about taking them.  I have been eating protein bars to help me recover from hard work, though.  I can vouch that they're effective, as I started taking them my third day in a five day work week (first week, not adjusted to the work at all) and compared to my first three days, I'm feeling a lot less pain, and the work load has only increased.  It's 32 grams of protein per bar, which I mainly chose because it was the highest amount available.  If I took the time to cook and eat some meat right after all that work (it's a half hour drive minimum to get back to my house), my body would be aching by the time it got into my system anyways.

You could boil some eggs up ahead of time and take them with you. Quick, simple, and easy to take with you and eat later. Great source of protein, and very quickly absorbed.

I usually have a two egg sandwich with me for lunch, so I've been trying to avoid eating more eggs than that.  Last time I ate too many eggs I was unable to stomach them for a couple of months.

A while back, I posted that I have a protein shake after weight lifting. Well, I added a bit more. I switched from whey to creatine in my shakes right after my workout session and a small whey shake right before bed. Again, this is mainly because I barely eat enough protein to maintain myself while not weight lifting. I take the supplement to have something to make weight lifting remotely effective.

When I was younger I used to take the Flintstones vitamins, but I outgrew those eventually. I don't know how much they actually helped, but I eat healthily enough, regardless.
