Alright, so I want to hear your way of getting muscle, as in how you prefer to do it. To explain further, what I'm asking is what exercises/procedures you use to work out.

I could get into a long explanation about this, but I'll just give my short answer for now and indulge myself in a day or two.

I'm not sure what you meant by your question, unless that's exactly how you want it asked, but the only ways to gain muscle are through conditioning and strength building. How you go about doing those is what really varies.

For me, I workout. I go by a bodybuilding program my brother introduced to me years ago (not sure if he's still on it, but it certainly works for me) that focuses on lifting heavier than normal weights with only 6-4 reps (repetitions). Added to that, a really healthy diet is needed to provide nutrients to help my muscles recover faster. And of course, rest.

I used to go to the gym with my father and I would lift weights and go on treadmills and such, but I founf that the muscle I was gaining made me feel too heavy. I then learned that pushing your body unnaturally can lead to developing different sorts of muscles, so I decided to turn to regular body workouts without using weights such as sit ups, crunches, pushups, and running. Recently I have put on a bit of weight and my laziness has put my workout efforts in veign, lol.

Best Keep your concience as clean as you can, or charma will come with a blade in it's hand. It will strike all those who seek to gain without giving, and spare all of those who are weak and forgiving.

I have weights and other equipment in my basement, loads of cast iron, a bench with a pulley tower attachment, a Bullworker isometric exerciser, two power twisters, chest expander, grip exercisers, and a pull-up bar. Most times I do bodyweight exercise of the Charles Atlas kind or an updated version called Powerflex/Flexercise - http://www.flexerciseworkout.com/whatis.html Don't take this as spam, but Powerflex I would recommend for the young guys starting out, the book is easy to understand. You can watch their youtube videos to get and idea what its about. I work on a construction site as a labourer so lifting weights is something I don't do a lot of at home, so bodyweight is best for me. I also do Aikido and Tai Chi Chuan, these include weapon training.

Also important, is body composition. A person should work on burning their unnecessary fat before trying to build muscle, otherwise rather than looking like Bruce Lee, you'll end up resembling a relative of the Hulk.

Over-training from muscle workouts can cause a state of being musclebound. Which is when you work your biceps so much that your triceps can't compete with them thus giving you a sort of bent arm effect.

A healthy diet is necessary for muscle building, along with a healthy amount of protein.

That's how I go about building muscles:
-Calorie Burning (i.e. running)
-Eating Healthy (Health Foods and exercise also help with Calorie Burning)
-Weight Training (Rather than using free weights, which can cause a lopsided effect of muscle growth, I would suggest you use Barbells rather than dumbbells or weight training machines at your local gym to prevent the risk of "one arm stronger than the other" in the first place.

I wouldn't necessarily say one should lose weight before lifting. For one, the heavier you are the more muscle power you need to carry it around. Especially if you're doing exercises lifting your own body. This leads to a faster increase in strength as compared to someone like me with a smaller body.

The second reason is that you can lose fat at any time during your lifting progress. Even if you do end up looking like the Hulk you can get rid of after at that point to get more defined.

While I agree with over training in specific part being a bad thing, using dumbbells isn't. When you use dumbbells you should automatically adjust the components you're working with to match in speed of the rep. Lift them as one and don't focus on a single dumbbell. That's one would indeed have an arm bigger than the other. It's a weird feeling at first, especially with heavy weights, but it's easy for your arms to start moving in sync overtime.

I go to MMA Kickboxing as often as I can. All of the instructors say the same thing basic thing.

The class is designed to train you to be able to fight. In the process of training, you will get in better shape.

After 4 years of training, I completely agree with it. They pick something for you to learn and drill variations of it for an hour. If you train the same muscles used for a particular kick for an hour, it will build muscle.

Well the way I've gained muscle is I wake up and do pushups, pullups, and crunches. After school, I weight lift, trying to incorporate a lot of muscle confusion, like squatting, then benching, then doing calf raises. Get home, don't eat too much junk, and before I go to bed, I do two hundred pushups. I've done this for a while now, I'm 170 lbs. benching 175 lbs., and I'm physically qualified to get in the U.S. Naval Academy.

I don't have any muscles. Muscle is good but too much is scary.

A great way to gain muscle with fast results is to work out as much as possible...and drinking nothing but water. Water is not only good for your body, but for your skin.

Walking/jogging/push ups/sit ups is the best exercise you could do.

People had good comments but no one exactly answered your question.

Your body is made of smooth skeletal cells, which are your muscles. These cells pull your body around and that's how you move, lift things, throw things, wave at people, clap, dance, etc.

When you build muscle, you use a muscle more than you usually do. Pretend like you're doing a bicep curl and you're lifting the weight until your arm is sore. You stop and rest and do a second set of repetitions. Your arm is really tired now and you stop.

That fatigue and tiredness in your arm is tiny little rips in your muscular cells. You are doing damage to them. Small amounts of damage happen and your body heals. When you heal, your muscles are prepared to do slightly more work. They get a little bigger because they heal over the damage. You get stronger and are able to handle a bigger load.

Add healthy food with that and you can put on some weight safely and efficiently. Rest to allow your body to heal and you get stronger faster.

The trick is this: Take a pencil and paper, write down various exercises and do about 8-10 reps with a specific weight. Rest one minute and do it again. Then move on to another body part. Give a day to rest and go do something else, and go back and lift later. You can lift 3-4 times a week and you'll do just fine. Every now and then, when it's easier, add some weight.

There are a ton of books at the library or bookstores. Check them out. They'll do a better job explaining then I did. You can also PM me if you have questions.

Good luck!
