In the long battle intros (where the opposing characters says something about your character), why do most of the villians and heroes praise / fear Shantotto? For example the Emperor refers to her as mi-lady, Cecil says along the lines of 'I sense a power greater than darkness', COD says someting like 'you're power surpasses mine' etc. I haven't played ff11 but did Shantotto do something really bad or are they just mocking her?

I have played it and I really didn't know what they were talking about. I mean she is pretty good but still not God-like, even though I guess they didn't get the memo.

I think... *spoilerish... since I haven't played the game so I don't know the true extent of it... lol* Shantotto supposedly was one of those high ranked mage type people who was in one of the countries in the game. But then at some point of the game, maybe in an expansion or something, she suddenly went berserk or something... which could also explain her comments like "I'm driven to destroy" or "There can only be one destroyer", because she went all crazy lol.
Again, I haven't played FFXI, so someone who has, please clarify what i said and point out if there's some truth to it lol.

Yeah..I haven't played XI either, but Im pretty sure she's one of those types of characters
who only looks funny but is ridiculously powerful. I mean shes not THAT powerful in Dissidia, of course, but not having played the game she was originally from I can't say for sure. If anything, the Emperor and COD are waaaay more challenging in Dissidia
