septembern : I'm with you there. This is my favourite comment that I stumbled upon today. It's ridiculous to argue who's right or wrong because no one knows (or will ever know) for sure. It's best to not waste any time on matters like that.

all sin is of equal countenance to God but other sins ( like murder) are worse because it's more like a couple sins combined. first of all you're harming another man/woman. second of all that's not your life to take so that's already 2 sins. It gets kind of complicated after that.

play4fun : I think if you live for those mortal sins you wont make it to heaven without faith and asking for forgiveness. And i'm not exactly sure where it's at in the bible. I would have to skim through it. Basically that's what i was taught through the catholic church. And yes i have commited some of those deadly sins before. I try to stay away from them through faith.

Fanaticism...when you take something religious and push its limits, especially when the outcome resorts to violence. It seems every decade a new group of fanatics rise up from a different religion and go way too far with it.

Also, it is clear that God forgives all sin. No sin is too big for God, and it is through Jesus that forgiveness of sins can be offered to all. (1 John 2:2)

I have to say Murder. The others can be returned or forgiven.

To me personally, the worst sin is someone saying they're not a sinner. For someone to say they never sin, they wanna be perfect like God. Don't work like that, noone is perfect except Him and our Lord Jesus, and everyone on this Earth has sinned in some way shape and form. I admit I am and I do make mistakes. But it is up to me if I wanna ask Jesus for forgiveness of those sins.

This may not be the "worst sin", but it is really bad by what Paul says about it.

The "worst" sin in terms of it's follow on effects is pride, because it is rooted in all sins. However, there is no difference in consequence to what sin you commit, they all result in the same thing: death. And to God they are all equally serious as they resulted in His only begotten Son nailed upon the cross to bear them. Certain sins may bring more suffering on earth. Certain sins are sins "against ones own flesh." There is the "unforgiveable" sin. So the question of the worst sin is kind of hard to answer within the limits of our language, but I would say that pride is at the root of everything.

Just wanted to address this too: "You can still repent of these sins, but I think committing sins of this nature lessen your ability to feel the Spirit of God and if done enough times will deaden you to God's influence."

True, but has the potential to be temporary. God can make the presence of the Holy Spirit known to the degree of his choosing.

In my opinion murder is the worst crime to commit because it's ending a life and it can't get any worst than that. Plus a lot of the sins are tied to murder so it may lead up ending someone's life.

Killing is the worst sin!

Murder, it is the universal sin. Every religion has declared it as wrong... though some where a bit fuzzy on what was murder and what was sacrifice... but yeah, there is nothing worse than taking another person's life.

Of course, I could also argue that greed is the root of all sins, because all other actions that are considered sins by most cultures are born out of greed.

when you think about it every sin is connected so if you lie it will sooner or later drive you to murder and if you steal it may also lead to murder so the worst sin is the sin that started it all disobeying because sooner or later that will lead you to the rest.

well theres a few sins worse than murder but i dont think its wise to post it here, ill give you a clue though.. its a jumble of all the worse things you can imagine in a days sitting.

and anyway torture is alot worse than murder and if you torture then kill the person your going to hell for sure.

I think that the worst ones are murder, greed and robbery.

I'm kind of in between rape and murder.


Some may ask, why rape?

Well, killing someone is obviously bad and does an absurd amount of damage, however, by raping someone, you damage that victim for their rest of their lives. They will have to live with that pain until the day that they die. That in a way is extremely cruel.

But at the same time, if I had to choose between death or rape, I would probably choose rape assuming I would be alive the next day.

JonXMasterZZMan :   Generally we say that all sins are equally in the Lord's sight, but there is one sin above all others that can't be forgiven.  Blasphemy upon the Lord is the only sin that can't be forgiven make it the worst sin of all.  Jesus says this himself that you can mock him all you want, but when blaspheme the Father which is in Heaven then that is unforgivable and you will be thrown into the lake of fire.

All sin is bad in the same way, but since humans look at them with a hierarchy of sorts from worst to less bad, we wonder what sin is worse. I don't know if suicide is a sin truly, but it is wrong. Same with self mutilation. I'm not the most far in my walk with Christ these days, but things like what I just mentioned are acts that hurt yourself in more than just two ways. Doing things to yourself that involve any damage dealt to the body, your sanity, your mental health, or other such health subgenres are bad to do religion or not.

Doing stupid things and saying it was in God's name is also sinful. Don't burn buildings down in God's name. God doesn't like it when you burn property you don't own down unless he tells you to, which I doubt happens much. Don't kill someone because they weren't Christian. God may forgive you for that action, but God probably isn't the one who can make humans forget that happened. Sorry.

Stupid is a sin to me. It is part of most crimes, and God doesn't like crime, either. Basically, I probably just put every sin into the box of stupid actions.

I already know Blasphemy is an unforgivable action, and it shall be in the box of things that send you to Hell. So, I got this heavy box of stupid in my closet. Should I burn it?
