The new Harry Potter book comes out next month (July 16th). It should be really good. Any thoughts on what we will find out? I have a few but I will let you post first. If you don't want spoilers then you probably shouldn't read this thread.

I want them to make it like a 3 hour movie. They killed the 3rd movie. It was decently good but they left out too much.



Now on to speculation? I think we may find about more about Harry's Aunt, if you read Order of the Phoenix you would sorta know what I mean before he leaves to go back to school. There seems to be more than she is letting on.


I think it is safe to assume there will be more romance. Not sure who exactly would hook up with who, but it seems like it will happen. They will be 16 so I think it is likely. Also if you check the site I list later in this post you will notice that someone was forrbidden to say if Harry had a girlfriend or not.

The most interesting one is that the opening chapter of Half-Blood Prince was tried in the Philosipher's (Sorcer's in the US) Stone, The Prinsoner of Azkaban, and the Order of the Phoenix. Very interesting stuff. I will probably get this the night it comes out and read it that weekend lol.

do you really think theres anything more to harry's aunt? if i remember correctly, it the fact that she's a uhhh... i forget what they're called... [been a while] person of little magical ability and thus cannot fit in to either the sorcerer world or muggle world.... do you think she may have something to do with ' whose name should not be mentioned'... hehe...

No I believe Harry's mom was a muggle born. But what I meant was that maybe she got a letter to or something and just didn't act on it. She just seems to know a bit more than she let's on. Something more seems to be there. She seemed to be afraid when she heard Voldemort came back. No i don't think she is evil. Also you are reffering to a squib Ithe ones that are wizard born but can't do magic.)


I really wonder if the whole Sirius thing is over with. It was just so anticlimactic.

The books are so much better than the movies. The movies leave out so much and most of the side jokes.

I don't think the Aunt is anything special....

she may play a role, but I doubt it will have anything to do with Magic...

the reason I think she knows so much is beacause her sister (Harry's mother) was a witch and went to Hogwarts.... which meant that she would come home and everyone would hear the news.... plus I assume her parents followed the wizard news on and off...

plus Voldemort was BIG news... every person associated in any way with the wizard world would have known about him and how dangerous he was...

as for Sirius.... that was odd.... he was just kinda killed off.... I mean... sometimes that just happens in books and it's still good.... but I doubt he's going to be left out completely.... I'm sure there will be a way for Harry to contact him...

I don't mean his Aunt would have something to do magically but like the fear she showed in Order when he told them Voldermort was back. She seems to care more for her sister and Harry than she ever let on. It will be interesting though.

I'm just curious to know who is going to die this time. Rowling said there would be another death, but I have heard nothing further on the subject.

I've got the book preordered at Waldenbooks and shall be there at midnight on the 16th to claim it... most likely staying up until past dawn reading it.

The audiobook will be released the same day, 18 CDs or 12 cassettes, and either way it's 19 hours. If I can manage it, I want to read it in under 19 just to see if I can.

As for Aunt Petunia... I don't know what will really happen with her in book 6, though it was indeed odd to see that side of her. I am hoping to finally find out why it is such a big deal that Harry has his mother's eyes!

Was that ever confirmed that his eyes being like his mother's was important. I still wonder who the Half-Blood Prince is.... I will probably go to Wal-Mart midnight July 16 and get it and probaly stay up til 3 reading.

I just can't believe I'm going on 17 and am still interested in Harry Potter. The 4th movie comes out November 11th too.

I'm 19 and Elara is older. The books appeal to a lot of people. The 4th movie could be good if they do it right. But it will need to be at least 3 a half or 4 hours. They will prolly make it 2 and a half and lose so much.

Anywho, yes it is actually important that Harry has his mother's eyes. Rowling mentions it somewhere on her site, I forgot where exactly.

Now she'll pull some weird thing out like she did toward the end of Goblet of Fire [in the graveyard] (which was set up in Sorcere's/ Philosper's Stone [I know I can't spell so deal with it lol.]) Who knows what she will pull out.


Just thought of something very interresting. Harry's eyes= green, Voldermorts eyes= Red, Sylterians color= Green and Silver, Gryffindor's color= Red and Gold. Hmmmmm sounds kinda fishy.

Hey the HBP is due out in just a little over a week. I reread OotP and I noticed something that was one of those jokes she threw out such as this has as good a chance of happening at that, but I forgot what it was. It wasn't anything major though so I'm not that worried about it.
A friend said the other night with all her forshadowing she probably has given us the end of the series and we just can't figure it out yet.

I wouldn't. In order to coax the 14 people into bringing the books back the publishers said that if they do bring it back they get it autograph from J.K. Rowling personally.

No sleep for the Elara, staying up reading with my boyfriend until we can't keep our eyes open... then sleep... then gaming and more reading.

Today my brother gave me a triva quiz in the paper based on the books, some rather obscure questions. I got 15/15, which according to the quiz means I could be a Headmaster, w00t! I am proud of my geeky knowledge!

10 hrs and 1 min from now by my computer. They sell it at 12:01. I can't wait to read part of it.

Edit: I finished it earlier today (Sunday about 1 pm or so). It was pretty good.

I finished it about 5 hours ago since I took my time with it... and didn't really start reading it until last night.

OMG, I cried... it was so sad!! I knew who died, since my boyfriend looked in the back and spoiled it for everyone, but I still cried!

The thing with Tonks was both funny and cute, I actually admire Fleur now, and Krecher... oh gods that was hilarious!

What about Kreacher was funny? PM me and remind me. I am not sure what part you are talking about. I knew it was going to happen when they were up on the tower. I just some how knew that was exactly what would happen. I was so ticked off and then of course Elara you and I should discuss the mystery surrounding the part toward the end. Any ideas on how you and I could talk about it?

I really don't understand why people want to read it so fast.. you have about 2 years for the next to come out... why not just take your time?

I read every book I get quickly. I don't just do it with Harry Potter. It is kind of annoying we have to wait forever to read the next one though.

Its ben so long since I read the order of the phoenix that im a little shaky on a few things but overall im fine. So far the book is very well written....and generally I like how everything is starting to take a much more serious edge with all the danger lurking around every corner.

I read books very quckly too, I finished all of the HP books on the day I got them so far.

I love this book, this book is the s***...although it goes kinda fast..

Im 200 some pages in..and i think ive only read for like 3 or so hours all together...

i'm halfway so far... up 2 christmas after slugs party... man its way better, especially since they're acting like teenagers now.

I think they were acting a bit stupid at some points esp Ron.

But yea, im gettin a hint that Hermonie(or however you spell that f***ed up british name) likes ron, its kinda evident, but ehh, im slow on those types..

It was evident in the 5th book as well. And the 4th. Ron and Hermione have liked each other since the fourth. Ron got really irratated with Krum when he went to the ball with Hermione. Then in the 5th book when Hermione kissed Ron on the cheek the way Ron reacted pretty much confirmed it to me.

also the 3rd movie... they held hands for support... but you got the foundations of the liking of him there aswell

The movies don't count though because they aren't the same as the books. They add things like that too much is what I mean.

Well, its been forever since i read those books..and i guess i really didnt catch on till...now

i don't really mind what they add... i on'ly care about what they cut, which is loads! It may be unrealistic, but if they weren't going to do it right fro the start they shouldn't bother.

I agree the third movie was like insanely hard to follow if you hadn't read the book. Really crazy. But they did the dementors right.

I just finished the book...its a pretty good book!
