That is actually a much harder question to answer than most might think! I'm a huge fan of RPGs, especially turn-based old style ones like Golden Sun, the early Final Fantasies, Lunar, Dragon Quest Monsters, ect. I've only recently gotten into games made by NIS, which is quickly becoming another favorite studio of mine (and that is impressive because I am super picky). I've gotten into the Atelier series and am currently playing Rorona plus, but I also have Meruru, Annie, and Ayesha. Annie is the first I played from the series and despite that it is a time-management game, it is incredibly addicting. Turn-based battles are only a part of the game rather than what the game is based on like so many other RPGs. The entire Alchemy system is mind-blowing in and of itself and the fact that the Alchemist is the only person in your party that can use items makes you second-guess whether or not to heal your team mate now or wait another turn and risk them fainting. On top of all this, you usually have some kind of competition or task-based missions that you must complete within a certain time. So not only do you have to make the items requested, but you have to gather the ingredients and make the items before the due date. You get more points if you finish early, but get a game over if you fail. The characters are fairly easy to get along with and have some fairly well-developed back stories that you can uncover by completing requests from them. I could go on all day about why I adore this series, but I won't keep you. I love the Atelier series because you are involved the entire time and time is of the essence.

My favourite game of all time is either between sonic the hedgehog 2 or Final fantasy VI.

They both are very amazing games for the time period they were released in and both i would argue affected the genre they are (Sonic is a 2d platformer, Final fantasy VI is a RPG)

If i had to choose between the two though i would have to give it to sonic the hedgehog 2 simply because it holds more nostalgia value to me than Final Fantasy VI, Plus as a competent player it is a game i can pick up and complete under an hour easily. I mean i used to play it so much that i used to time myself playing to see if i was actually getting any better at the game as i had played it so much that the difficulty is pretty much non existent.

I doubt most people have not played it here on Vizzed but if you have not, or just have not played it in a while i recommend it. In my opinion it is certainly better than any Mario game i have ever played.

SuperTeenOne :  I played Portal 2 all the way through and beat it... and LOVED it. I have to say that I was super, super, super sad that it was soooooo short!  I actually forgot that it's one of the only games I've ever completely played through.  I adored it so much that it was just a bummer to realize it was over.  If it weren't for the few levels... I might actually put that at the top of my list.  It is also humorous.. which is wonderful.

It's hard for me to pick a SINGLE favorite game though, because I'm an indecisive person. When I was younger, the answer was super easy: Zelda and the Ocarina of Time.  I never could get past the second 'boss', but I watched my siblings play it.. and I tried it again and again and again.  I loved that it was (in my opinion), a decent hybrid of free-roaming game styles and linear plots.  I've always wished I could find a game that was very similar to it, but contained no magic.  (For religious beliefs, I will not play games with magic in them.)

If I just HAD to pick ONLY one game to play?   Yeesh... I think... MAYBE... that'd I'd choose Minecraft.  However, I also enjoy other games like Spore, Zoo Tycoon, Mario Party 3, and Anarchy Online.

I sincerely enjoyed Fallout 3 also... but never got around to playing it much.  I wish I had time to go try it again.

Oh God... It's like asking a parent who their favorite child is...

Okay, I'm going to list 2 games. The first one will be a classic favorite of mine. The second one will be a newer game that's a favorite of mine.

The classic game is Pokemon Gold version for the Game Boy Color. My first Pokemon game, and it was so amazing! I must have spent a million hours playing, replaying, battling, and trying to catch 'em all (which, I now realize is impossible on one game XD ). Unfortunately, the internal battery in it died a few years ago, so it's now unable to save... So glad they did the Heart Gold and Soul Silver remakes (I got Soul Silver).

The newer game (which has actually been around for a few years now, but still a massive hit) is Minecraft. Hands down one of my all time favorite games to play! There's so much to do in Minecraft, from exploring, building, having fun with friends, and tons of other stuff you can find thanks to awesome mods and great games on servers! I've always loved to build stuff (especially with Legos), and I absolutely love to build all sorts of stuff in Minecraft. Unfortunately, I can't play the newest version of Minecraft because my laptop is getting old and can't support it, but it still works for older versions, so I can still build all day if I feel like it.

This question isn't even hard for me. My favorite game is now Skyrim. Yeah, even more than Melee or SSB4. Skyrim is so amazing. I'm not allowed to play M-rated games, but my parents don't know it's M-rated. I played it the first time 1 or 2 weeks ago on a Monday. It's so huge, there's so much to do, it's incredibly addicting... It's just an immensely fun game. There's endless possibilities.

River City Ransom. 1'000,000%.  If I was stuck in a room for a year with no other entertainment, it is this brawler, with all its BARF, ACRO CIRCUS, TECMO BELT, and TEDDY BEARS to hug (when no one is looking) that is so awesome. Its like the movie "The Warriors", if it was about high-schoolers. You beat gang members up for their lunch money. You use it to buy awesome things. You also can buy food at malls to restore your health and raise your stats, and eat the entire plate as well.
If I was stuck in a room for one year with only a video game for company, it would be this game. If I was stuck in that room with Jason from Friday the 13th, I would also want this game, because, dude, its two players, grab a controller, Mr. Voorhees. I'd even let him be the character with the girlfriend.

I enjoy quite a few games!

PC Games;
Amnesia: The Dark Decent - this game is scary as all get out but it has a very nice story behind it and the graphics are pretty good!
Spore - I love creating all my little creatures, although most of them are based off of dragons.
Sims - I enjoy building full towns and creating families and just messing around with them and making them have children, lol!

Xbox;
Skyrim - fus roh dah! Dohvahkiin for life!
Final Fantasy - I just really enjoy the graphics and how realistic they look. Snow and Lightning are my favorite characters.
Saints Row 2 & 3
Assassins Creed 2 - because I wish I could be a cool assassin back in older times.
GTA
CoD; MW3
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit - because I have the need.... For Speed!!
Dragon Age 1 & 2 - I absolutely adore this game. I love the graphics and also the gameplay. Although I do dislike that when you're done following the story line you literally aren't able to do anything anymore.... I'm generally always a warrior or Rogue, I like to be all in hands on in battle.

Game Boy;
Zelda
Pokemon - First through third gens are the best, anything after I don't quite enjoy. I mean, I'll give the creators credit with the updated graphics and all, but the Pokemon just went downhill after Generation 3
Super Mario Bros
Yoshi Island
Naruto - I always loved the anime, and the fighting games were always fun to play.

My all time favorite would be NetHack. Why? Because NetHack is difficult. Most people don't make it past dungeon level 5. There is a lot to learn about NetHack. Even tough the graphics are basically nonexistent, i still enjoy it. And I don't understand why people think it's bad.
By the way, does anyone other than crawldragon play roguelikes here?

It's really too hard to answer.
I'll have to say it's Counter-Strike: Global Offencive. It probably isn't the best game I've ever played and it doesn't come close to some of the hours I've put into some games however it is what I am enjoying playing now. Even though I'm really crap at it clocking in at rank silver 2 (the second worst you can have) I really enjoy playing and learning such a difficult game.

Kingdom Hearts. First of I love Disney, well the old classic Disney. And two,it was my very first ps2 game, and I just always loved talking to other Disney characters in the game. Now that I'm 20 it holds a very special place in my heart and I remember just crying when kingdom hearts 3 was announced. I think kingdom hearts 2 is my favorite so far, and only because of the lion king world and the nightmare before Christmas world. I remember spending hours just listening to the music.

My second favorite game is honestly Okami, imagine the little heart attack I had when I saw Cryaotic play it on one of his play throughs. Well what can I say? Its a beautiful game full with Japanese mythology and good art. The main character is a wolf (my favorite animal) and you get to help  people and kick demon butt. Not to mention but as an artist it gives me a crap ton of drawing inspiration. it's the first game that i've actually liked every single song of the game. It's also the second game that I've cried about when the ending credits were rolling haha.

I was playing these two games almost around the same period, and around Christmas time I make it a habit to play those two games.

Pac-man! A beloved classic from Namco. I currently play the arcade version. I don't play the 2600 version because it is an eyesore to look at. I played the NeoGeoPocketColor version, But it felt very uncomfortable. I have a 4 game in 1 version. Features pac-man 1 pac-man 2 pac and pal and super pac-man. I loved super pac-man it was so cool! Pac and pal was a problem. But overall, All 4 are cool!

I have actually a few favorite video games, each one has an amazing memory tied behind them as well, in all honesty I really do not think I could choose just one per say, because each one has such a cherish memory for me. The first game, or series I should say is Suikoden I like them all, but the first and second one I love, if I had to choose the first one is better in my opinion then the second one. the second series is Lunar all games even Dragon Song I loved. The third is Mystical Ninja for the 64 the first one, I didn't really like the sequel. The fourth is Street Sk8ter, but in a psychological aspect I think I like the memories I hold attached to that game rather than the game itself so take that one for what it is worth. And finally Zelda Ocarina of time.

I think it's safe to say that my favorite game would probably be Little Big Planet 2. Not only was it a big improvement from the previous game, It also introduced different kinds of game play as well. And being able to create your own levels on the moon had just made things better.... And since now they have Sackbots and Jump-Pads etc, You could figure out your own clever little game with them as well. Overall it had just been a wonderful experience for me and when Little Big Planet 3 comes out I hope I'll someday have enough money to get it.

I believe that it's unfair to pick just one game to be your all-time favourite. As gamers it's our duty to play popular games and they're popular because they're so amazing, am I right? So many games on this page alone are among my favourites. I feel bad for so many games that don't make it on the list because there can only be so many on it.

I can't deny that many recent games are amazing and have replayability. There is nothing wrong with admitting that. But if it weren't for the classic games, there would be none today. So I am going to have to list some of the games that I enjoyed most in my youth.
Note: This are just a small taste of the amazing games I cherished growing up.

GBC: Dragon Warrior Monsters, Pokémon Yellow
SNES: Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario All-Stars
N64: Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, 1080 Snowboarding, Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2

Well, I'd say DooM is the perfect game for me. Oh, and not just for it's vanilla possibilities, but also because of it's modern legacy.
That's why it's my longest actively played game.

Modding.
You see, there are two main source ports running now, (G)ZDoom, and Zandronum.
One focuses on Singleplayer, and another at Multiplayer, respectively.
Look, Doom has extremely simple, yet complex modding system. The language is simple , and mapping is plain drawing.

But look how much there's to it now!
There's stealth, there's strategy, there's Fallout, there's RPG, and tons more possible! (Anyone heard about Zombie Horde transported into Doom Multiplayer? Now we just need tacticool gameplay from Battlefield and massive maps. (which are easily possible, but sadly I never saw any utilized in competitive multiplayer))
Even I, an man who doesn't bother with being creative, had created an leveling up system plus complex weight system.

Also, don't forget it supports 3D Models too. One day...

NathanK17 : My favorite game for nostalgia purposes is Sly Cooper (3). I played it recently, and it's still super fun, I even "convinced" my best friend to play it. I love the characters and the story, but currently I think my favorite game is Team Fortress 2. I've so far put in over 150 hours into TF2, and I don't think I'll ever grow bored. However, for games I've spent the most time on, it would have to be between Pokémon: Emerald and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
