Would you die to support your beliefs?

That's... hard to answer. I know everyone would probably want to say yes, but actually doing so is probably one of the hardest... no, the hardest thing anyone could do. I of course would like to say yes, in fact I honestly believe I would be able to do something like that; however, I have not been tested like that. But I say yes. If you can't honestly answer yes, then you need to seriously re-examine your beliefs and commitments.

if someone held a gun to my head and said "Deny your beliefs or die" I think I could say no and wait for the shot.

If someone tortured me into denying my beliefs I don't think I could handle that.

I highly doubt that would happen to anyone.... but it is the ultimate test of how strongly committed you are to what you believe.

I could no way become a suicide bomber err anything like that for my beliefs, but with the gun to the head idea ^ I could probably do that.

If you had a chance to not deny your beliefs, would you let the opposition pull the trigger or would you attempt to fight for the belief to protect your own life instead of just not denying it and getting your head blown off ?

I think a lot of people will say yes at times but as bignatealpha has said when it comes down to it it will be very hard if your not committed enough.

Good example is suicide or murder lots of people talk the talk but when it comes down to it there are many who will fear it at last minute. However there are times when it is just an accident not because you wanted to or not.

As for me, it would depend on the situation and the belief. I'm not going to kill someone cause they don't believe what I do. However, if someone tries to kill me for not believing what they do I would be committed enough to kill them So it really depends on the situation.

If I were an average person, I would say yes. Yes, absolutely, because I've been saved and no one can harm me anymore.

However, I have to say no, I would not die to support my beliefs. That would be selfish, and I'll explain why: I know a lot of unsaved people. I think every Christian must by this point. I would not kill to defend myself, and I would gladly die for my beliefs, but there are people I would kill to stay alive for. It's my duty to stay on this Earth and give them a chance to be saved, and I will never forgive myself if one of them goes to hell because I was given an opportunity to stay and talk and didn't take it.

geeogree : I agree with you about being held at gunpoint. I would indeed be able to die for my faith, for there is a great reward in the kingdom of Heaven. However, with being tortured, maybe I could just lie about giving up my faith. Indeed, that would be an ultimate test of faith.

JigSaw : Okay, I think I get what your saying. If its kill or be killed, I'd much rather kill obviously then be killed, but if its an unescapable situation where theres a gun pointed at my head and I'm going to die either way, I would then take the martyrs way out and sacrafice myself for my beliefs. Although, if its an escapable situation where I can maybe get out of the ordeal by denying my beliefs and then repenting about it, I think I would probably take that route.

Crawldragon : I doubt if God wants you to stay, he'll force you to lie in order to do it . Think about it, by what you said, if someone was to kill you for your beliefs, God would rather you sin by lying and pretending to deny your Christianity in order to witness to people. A better witness would be dieing a martyr's death.

bignatealpha : I think you're exactly right. I can't be absolutely certain that I'd actually have the courage. I really want to say that I would, but I don't want to just talk the talk and stuff like that and then when it comes down to it, I totally chicken out. If i do though, I'd probably feel really bad about it. So, i guess it really depends on what happens.

A tougher question would be "would you let a loved one die for your beliefs?". Have fun with that one.

This is a tough question for me to answer. I really have no religion (agnostic) and it's kind of hard for me to come up with a situation where my beliefs would cause my death, and even harder for my beliefs to be pin downed (I guess I could say I believe in just being a good person).

I think most Christians don't have the balls. That being said I do, cut me, beat me, whatever you want. I'll still believe in God, and I'll laugh at the person when he's in hell. Ha-ha! Also because I have a very high tolerance for pain and played a game of knuckles for an hour and broke my knuckles, but I still didn't quit playing. I've also been shot, it hurts but you get over it. And the would you let a loved one die for your beliefs?
I don't really understand the question. Will someone kill my loved ones if I keep my beliefs? Because then I would just hunt them down and try to kill them.

I would die for my belief in God although I wouldn't go as far as to say that I would laugh at someone going to hell.

I can't be sure about it.
Because even if now I feel that I will defend my opinions about everything and not only religion, I don't think that I would die for them, because my instinct of self-protection is very strong.

bignatealpha : I suppose according to a certain logic that's true, but that could mean leaving a lot of loved ones behind, possibly with no one else to witness to them. Would a good witness die a martyr's death or live on to support loved ones who wouldn't be impressed?

I still would die for my beliefs. To me, it is something very much worth dieing for. Like Fudilus said:"Hmm...die now, and go to Heaven, or live on feeling guilty, for the rest of your life and going to hell after...Yes, yes I would die for my beliefs."

chugchu : I don't think most x-tians have the balls to die for their religion. They realize they live a lie every day and don't want to die knowing that they will just die. If someone held a gun to my head and asked me that, I would go out crushing his balls and hopefully shattering at least one kneecap.

bobbynibbles no, we do have the balls to die for what we believe. And you need to actually know a little something about Christianity before you comment the way you do. Right now you know little to nothing.

And what comes across as me not knowing anything about x-tianity? I was , unfortunately, raised as a Kristian and wish I could go back and change that.
