As ongoing video game franchises continue on and on, sometimes the newer iterations can lose old-time fans and they eventually move on. Could be because the games stopped offering what they enjoyed, or the quality of the games stopped being good... I think everyone has at least one story.

For me I stopped being a Yakuza fan at Yakuza 8. It's a bit sad too because I actually really like the combat in that game, but the story is actually atrocious. It's almost the opposite of Yakuza 7 funny enough - that game had an incredible story but very mediocre gameplay. However I enjoyed Yakuza for their ongoing plotline silly dramatic stories, but I feel like 8 kinda just flopped on a lot of points by refusing to allow the new main character to actually be a main character, and then refused to give a satisfying ending after an extremely rushed end sequence (especially on Ichiban's side). I remember finishing the game, even including the very end segment, going "...that's it?" and I've never had a desire to play any of the new games since then. I've heard the 3 remake and the 0 "director's cut" they did recently makes some incredibly silly retcons too... no idea what they're doing with that franchise, but I'm glad I bailed out early.

How about you guys? Any series that you used to like but not so much on the more recent titles?

Five Nights at Freddy's.

I remember playing the first three games as a child. And I also remember playing a little bit of the fourth, but lost interest because I started getting into other things (these "other things" not at all really being related to gaming). I think the release of FNaF World is when I truly stopped giving a s*** about the series. After that, I think every other FNaF release was just Scott Cawthon milking that s*** even more. And I'm positively sure I'm a hundred percent correct in saying that.

Like, if the guy made a sequel to The Desolate Hope, then my opinion would change a little. Because then he'd be showing that he gives enough of a s*** about his other series that he made before FNaF.

But no. Instead, he just took his one series and turned it into a massive multi-media franchise. Sure, it makes him mad money. But to me, it also shows that he doesn't give a s*** about the other series that he previously made.
