So I've recently started back coding, mainly using a program called Dream Maker under the site/app known as BYOND. I'm curious as to if anyone else here has heard of it or has any experience using it.

I need the inspiration for when I finally relearned everything I need to know, so please feel free to tell me all about the games you've played or even made!

P.S. If you don't want me using your ideas, just say so, I'd still love to hear all about it!

I used to play games on BYOND like crazy some years back lol. I think I was still in high school back then. There were always a bunch of cool Dragon Ball and Naruto games on there. Pretty sure every game I played on there is dead now though, I haven't looked at it for a long time. I know Space Station 13 got pretty popular too, that's also a BYOND game. I remember it having a fairly simple scripting language. The most I did with it though was just a couple experiments. I'd just have a stick figure that could change into different forms. I never really went very far with it, I started focusing on RPG Maker around that time instead and then hopped between game engines for a bit before landing on Godot as my favorite.

To tell you the truth, I actually learned about BYOND over a decade ago. I never got even a faint hang of how to program or make my own games, so I was stuck to playing what others had made, mainly RPGs.

What I didn't like was the controls tending to be delayed, and the fact that you have to use the Numpad for a lot of the controls. One of my keyboards I used to have didn't have one at all, that should tell you something.

Of course, this was all the way back in around... 2010 or so? I'm more than sure that things have changed a lot since then, so I may be willing to revisit it in the future.

Man, I thought that program would be dead by now, been ages since I last entered it. I was already active there around 2008, didn't know it had survived this long and most likely the games I used to check are now pretty much dead.

I mainly stuck to two Yu-Gi-Oh games, because back then we had no game to let us duel freely (even the official ones were very limited on that aspect). I think I tried to search for a Pokemon TCG game as well, and a couple shooters a friend of back then recommended me to play together. That's basically it.

I didn't mess with the coding, though, the most I did was creating my own avatars in the game just like the post layouts here in Vizzed. I was too young and way too pessimistic about the future so as to think on anything and I was just spending my time trying to play something there.

Not sure what the app is capable of right now or what programmers are allowed to do now with the updates it has surely received. Could be an interesting trip down memory lane to check it out, but I probably won't do it because of reasons.
