Anyways they are called Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Anyone feeling hopeful they are going to be good or think it will be like Sword and Shield?

Personally whether I like it or not I am going to buy at least one of them even if it is bad. If I do end up enjoying it though I will buy the other version.


What all do you hope to see in the game?

Personally I hope they merge the main series style with legends arceus world.

I'm definitely getting the game. It looks like a mix of Sword/Shield and Legends: Arceus which I'm down for.

I'm more interested in how they're going to utilize the open world aspect from Legends: Arceus in a more traditional game. Will the levels automatically scale with the amount of badges you have? Can you challenge gyms or whatever it will be in any order? Those are the main two questions I want answers to. If they do this right it can turn out amazing.

We'll be pushing close to pokemon #1000 as well. The latest Pokemon, Enamorus, is #905. I don't think we'll hit 1000 pokemon in this generation because they haven't added 90+ new pokemon since like gen 5. And thematically it would probably be better for #1000 to appear in generation 10 instead.

I want to see more regional forms/evolutions to old pokemon that need them. They've been doing a good job with that recently, giving Pokemon like Farfetch'd, Corsola and Basculin some much needed love.

Oh and I want to see what the starter evolutions will look like. I'm praying my boy Fuecoco will live up to its current hype.

I'll definitely pick up one of the games never seen a reason to own both I just want the game to be more enjoyable than sword and shield where the first time I played the game I enjoyed it a good bit the more post game I played and especially replaying it to do a nuzlocke I found issue after issue with Galar. I really hope whatever gimmick gen 9 has is really enjoyable and I hope they don't include some of the more ridiculous pokemon when it comes to power scaling that we're introduced in gen 8 like the horses and Zacian but only time will tell.

Furret : I personally would hope for a scaling system with dynamic teams based on the number of badges, but I doubt it will happen, knowing Gamefreak. 

I am also guessing now that there will be between 70 and 80 Pokémon, so the big 1000 doesn't get hit. Then again, that would, in my opinion, make Gen 10 # 1000 less interesting, probably..

Also, I am so split between Fuecoco and Sprigatito. I am probably going to go with Fuecoco anyway, since I think I have always gone with fire starters, except with sword and shield, where I went with Sobble. 

SonicOlmstead : Knowing how Gamefreak is with competitive scaling, there is going to be something even more ridiculous and one-sided, like how Zacian is better than Zamazenta. I'm not the biggest fan of competitive and bug types in general, but I would love to see more bug types be better than what they are now. Right now, they are mostly too fragile or have extremely niche uses, but they usually, in my opinion, have great designs. 

Allysa8th : I am hoping Sprigatito isn't going to become grass fighting. If it does, I am going to be super disappointed. I don't know why I think it is where it makes sense to others to hear. I just feel like it is going to happen. Otherwise, I really need to rewatch the trailer to see how I think things are going to turn out. 

Going back to my response to Furret, if it is an open world and dynamic gyms, assuming that is a thing, then how in the world is a story going to work in the traditional story sense that Gamefreak gives? Unless they are like, "Hey, this is where the story progresses. Just go here to continue it." I just don't see how this will work well dynamically without a lot of extra work. Like, say, will every single trainer have a dynamic party? Or just gym leaders and the evil team, I assume. Thinking of all this doesn't give me hope for an open world game unless they go well beyond what they usually give in a game. No matter what, though, I am going to buy at least one of the games and will try my hardest to enjoy it on my first playthrough. I just hope it doesn't have a million cutscenes like UltraSun and Moon had..

I'm not buying new it unless it has a complete Dex. Otherwise, I'll catch someone pawning it off on Ebay like I did with Shield.

I hope they brought in some aspects of Arceus anyway.

I think I might be getting them. First time I'm considering buying any of the core games since way back in Sapphire, and I never thought I'd say this again.

The fact they're based in Spain for this generation makes me want to try it. Also, with the capabilities of the Switch and the absolute hit that Legends has been, I'm sure these two will be quite unique and watching from the sidelines might not be enough.

We'll see how information gets dropped as the months pass by. I'll use these bits of information to determine if I get them new and how shortly after their release date, but most likely the new year will come without me getting them.

I honestly want to see what they do with the Legendaries in this generation, going back to gems this could mean some great designs and probably unique typings. As for the starters, I have the hunch they'll be Grass-Normal, Fire-Ground and Water-Flying at their final stage, and honestly I wish I'm wrong because those combinations for starters are horrible xD

I'm getting them that's for sure, I'm still a little scared we just know the title and the starters. Because I love the colour violet but something feels odd about picking the game without knowing what legendary will be on the art of it you know? That's how we've done it in the past.

Sprigatito is my son and I will protect him at all costs. If he becomes bipedal I will sue. I had an initial theory that many people also share that there are big hopes that grass cat will become a Grass/Fairy. I think Quaxly will be a Water/Steel or Fighting tbh. I had assumptions on Fuecoco being a Fire/Ghost but since we just had that it's harder to believe. Even though Fuecoco literally is a ghost pepper.

I think in terms of the open-world aspect there are two ways they could go, like you said there could be more dynamic scaling, but I feel that's a lot of up-keep for them to take care of. Unless we're going by the Legends level/stat system. Or there could be like quest markers saying hey this place is a little difficult let's go over here instead. It's not full proof but I assume they will try to push you in the right direction, but it will still ultimately be your choice as the player.

I also agree with you I want more Bugs. It's one of my favourite typings, and Dottler was the best bug imo that we've had in a long time, if only they didn't ruin him with that ugly evo that's basically a reskined Ledian.

I don't think scaling would be an issue since it's already been established as game-canon in the Origins anime.

As for random trainers, I think having trainers more or less accessible would be a better route than scaling. Like certain battles won't activate if you're not a certain level or trainers won't even appear in certain areas until a certain point.

Legends Arceus restored my faith in Game Freak. I’ll definitely be buying 1 of the 2, not both this time around.

Gotta give me a good reason to buy this game. I haven’t played Pokémon all the way through since Fire red and Emerald.

Also, I am curious as to how the multiplayer is going to work. Will it be online only or local only? Maybe even both or?

I unfortunately don't have anyone around me that I know that likes Pokémon, so I won't be able to play locally. 

Also, the box legendaries, to me honestly, seem like Reshiram and Zekrom 2.0s. Even with the professor's name meanings, it feels like it has Unova origins with how Opelucid City is handled. Rough stretch on that who knows. 

With the new stuff being shown, do you want to preorder this game yet?
