It's been 4 years since the release of Blue Reflection for PS4 and PC in America, the game was originally released in America (the continent, I have a habit of pointing that out) on September 26, 2017, and now, it's the fourth anniversary of the launch of that game in this continent. The reason why I chose ''That One Forum'' for this thread is because this specific thread will be about the Blue Reflection franchise in general, yes, it's been exactly 4 years since the release of Blue Reflection in the American continent, but since then, several new things about this IP have come out and what not, and I want to write about it. This will be a long thread about what is now a franchise, so, I won't just talk about a video game for PS4, PC and PS Vita (in Japan)...here I go.

I've had a habit of doing something on September 26 to celebrate the launch of Blue Reflection in America, in 2018, I wrote a long Facebook post that is now deleted because I deleted my Facebook account (which should mean that said Facebook post can't be read anymore), in 2019 I uploaded a video on Youtube with the title ''Blue Reflection - funny moments (voiced events)'' and last year, in 2020, I uploaded the video titled ''Blue Reflection - All battle/boss themes'', said video is now one of my most popular videos of all time, with more than 7250 views in less than a year, now, in 2021 I'm celebrating four years since the launch of the game in America with a thread on Vizzed...what can I say about Blue Reflection that I haven't already? A long time ago, I wrote what I consider a good written review of the game, it might not be best written review of Blue Reflection, but I'd say that it's a good review at least, after that written review, I made a thread here on Vizzed: ''The negative aspects of Blue Reflection.'' I really didn't mention flaws in my review of the game but somehow, I think that my review is fine as is, which is probably why I decided to make that thread instead of editing my existing review of the game and trying to put those (several) points in my review. The (mild) censorship that doesn't even affect the base game, the many errors/typos throughout the game (the translation is kind of bad, let's be honest), etc...Blue Reflection has a lot of flaws, but even with all those flaws, I still love Blue Reflection, at least as an experience, something I've said many times before is that Blue Reflection is just a good game at best, it's not the best turn-based RPG of all time and that's true objectively speaking more or less...but as an experience, as a story...it's fantastic, to this day, it's still the most moving game I've ever played, it's a beautiful, emotional and moving game with a bittersweet ending that I love, the atmosphere of the game is relaxing and calm, Blue Reflection almost has a...mesmerizing vibe or atmosphere, it's a game I love as an experience, and I love everything about the game except the gameplay, the graphics, soundtrack, characters and story are all amazing in my opinion, so...I don't have much to say about the game, well, I guess I could say that I recently got the platinum trophy of Blue Reflection (Brilliant Etoile), and before that, I beat the game on PS4 again, I finished the game this September (in 2021) and, for now, I've finished the PS4 version of Blue Reflection 5 times, but I've finished the game (in general) 6 times, 5 on PS4, once on PS Vita...yes, really, I have the PS Vita version of the game even though it's only in Japanese. I bought the PS Vita version in 2018 physically when my family and I went to Japan.

If we only had the game, maybe this would be the end of the post...for a long time, I wasn't sure if Blue Reflection was going to become something bigger, a franchise, or a video game series with more than just one game, and in fact, after a while, in 2019 and 2020, I took for granted that the Blue Reflection IP wasn't going to become something more than just one game for three platforms, but lo and behold, Blue Reflection is now a franchise. Several new things about Blue Reflection have come out this year, a new anime series was announced, a new game for consoles was announced, and lastly, we have confirmation of another new game for Android, IOS and PC (Blue Reflection Sun). Here on Vizzed I made a thread about the announcement of Blue Reflection Ray, the anime series of what is now a franchise...several months later, Blue Reflection Ray has ended and all episodes are now available...I've watched Blue Reflection Ray from beginning to end, and I'll say it right now, if you haven't watched Blue Reflection Ray but are a fan of the first game and/or mahou shoujo series (Sailor Moon, Hime-chan no Ribbon, the Precure franchise, etc), watch the series, I highly recommend Blue Reflection Ray. I won't spoil anything, Blue Reflection Ray isn't on par with the first game when it comes to being an emotional and beautiful story that really makes you cry, but it's still a great anime series with emotional/sad moments and more, I love it. The series takes place after the first game but also (probably) before the second game, which brings me to one last thing, the next game.

I've talked about the next Blue Reflection game here on Vizzed, I made a thread specifically about the release date of the game in Japan and after a while, the west. Blue Reflection: Second Light is the second Blue Reflection game for consoles, it will be released for PS4 and Nintendo Switch and yes, I will get both console versions of the game, ever since the game was announced, a lot of new information has been released, we now know that not only Hinako Shirai, the main character of the first game, will appear in Blue Reflection: Second Light, but also other characters, including several characters that appear in Blue Reflection Ray, Hiori Hirahara and Mio Hirahara, for example, will also appear in Blue Reflection: Second Light, overall, it seems that Blue Reflection: Second Light has a bit of an ''all-star cast'' going on, with characters from the anime, the first game, and apparently even characters from Blue Reflection Sun! We almost know nothing about Blue Reflection Sun and even so characters ''specifically'' from Blue Reflection Sun will appear in the game. Kokoro Utsubo is going to be a popular character, I can say that for sure looking at her design, she has certain...attributes, if you know what I mean. Blue Reflection: Second Light will be released soon, I can't wait.

There is so much more I could write about this franchise, considering everything I've said...I've finished the first game several times, I finished watching Blue Reflection Ray yesterday (yes, I watched the last episode yesterday on September 25), and Blue Reflection: Second Light will be released soon in Japan and a while after that, in the west...however, this post is definitely very long, so, I guess this is everything for now. Congratulations Blue Reflection for 4 years in America, and also, Blue Reflection Ray is a great anime series, and I can't wait for Blue Reflection: Second Light, there is less than a month left for the release of the second game in Japan. Take care.

lolid23 : I've always been interested in the game because I liked how the art style was, and the music to me sounded very well composed. But I also got so many conflicting and different opinions on how the game was set up well but failed. And I just never really gave it a chance because so many people were saying how it had so much potential but let them down.

I also thought the fighting and leveling system was a little strange and wasn't traditional in anyway. It kind of gave me Chrono Cross vibes but weird. But honestly this makes me want to try it again. Maybe when it goes on sale I will, especially since they are coming out with a second game which is impressive to say the least.

deggle : Right now we have ''Big in Japan'' and many PS4 video games, including Blue Reflection, are on sale. The game is -50% in a lot of countries, so, if one wants to get the PS4 version this is a great choice. A physical copy of Blue Reflection is usually extremely expensive, especially if we talk about American copies, but I've read that physical copies for Europe are cheaper and easier to get. The Steam version is also on sale right now.

I have never played the original game before and only heard about it for the first time a couple weeks ago, but I already pre ordered Second Light for the Switch so that I could use that to get into the series. If the original gets ported to the Switch, I might give it a shot but I'd have no way to play it otherwise.

zanderlex : Wow, I'm a huge fan of Blue Reflection...I mean, it's my biggest special interest and all, and even so, you did what even I haven't done, I haven't pre ordered Second Light even though I've had the opportunity to do exactly that, and yeah, I could pre order the game. Anyway, at this point I take for granted that if Blue Reflection gets ported to the Switch, the Switch version won't be released this year, and that's assuming that the first game gets ported to the Switch at all, in any case, at least the second game will also be released for the Switch and not just PS4 if we talk about consoles. I hope everyone likes the game...I can't wait.

lolid23 : The only thing that I'm worried about are the translations. I had a hard time reading some of the descriptions on the pre order page because it just felt like a bad localization attempt, and I hope that the game reads better than that.

zanderlex : Maybe you are talking about the part that mentions the story on the eShop page, that part of the description is written like a poem or something, and yeah, it's great English for the most part, it's just slightly oddly written. In any case, the translation of Blue Reflection: Second Light should be better than the translation of the first game, considering that Blue Reflection has one of the worst official translations I have ever seen for a Japanese game, more or less. I've said it before and I'll say it again...the translation is kind of bad, in fact, here's a compilation: https://imgur.com/gallery/8Koan
Have fun, that compilation isn't even exhaustive...
